I thought overall we defended well, and restricted them to set pieces and a couple of breaks. Outside of the 2 long throws, we were first to everything that came into our box. Crazy considering how makeshift that defense is. Not having the the Thompson hate today. At worst he was perfectly serviceable at LB and put in a shift, as did all the players. Dundee got no joy down the flanks at all, while we got a goal and assist from Sparrow and Thompson. Johnny K didn't need to do that, and I hope we don't waste money on an appeal. We're probably going to have to play Sparrow at RB in the 4 next week, or we could see Seddon come in and Dom switch over. Paton was fine, he played a great pass to slattery for his chance, and was involved in some good passages of playbwith slattery and Miller, but in general he doesn't have the cutting edge needed to play in a front 3 with no real striker in it. JT coming on allowed is to stretch them, and they had to be aware of his threat in behind. He did a great job of ghosting in front of the defender for the goal. He does that a lot. I wouldn't say it's hate about Thompson. He wears the jersey and is trying his best. Personally I am not convinced he is worth a new deal yet but also said I will hold my hand up if proved wrong. Maswanhise is big player for us if he can get consistency. COYW

His problem is he rarely finds a Motherwell player with a pass. Constantly gives the ball away. His decision making is also suspect. Great assist for the goal though, so credit where it's due.....

Beforehand, I thought that a draw would be a great result; but an unlikely one. Very happy that I was proved wrong. A huge win that guarantees us safety and a 10th placed finish at worst. To win like that shows some grit and character. Well done Tom Sparrow and TJ. Good to see the Ox back between the sticks, and Steve Seddon make his comeback. We can now really plan for next season. 2 Yellows and and red card. We must have kicked poor Dundee off the park. Will have to see that red card on TV. Was a red card all day long. A very poor tackle. That said, Dundee's defenders got away with quite a lot. They should have seen a few more yellows for persistent fouling. The elbow to the back of the head or in the back in challenges was prevalent.....
joewarkfanclub
Thought it was a decent enough performance today. A bit one dimensional and lacking pace in the first half, but we knocked the ball about ok and created 3 decent enough chances that should have at least hit the target. Dundee did have more shots on target but Ox did well and had no chance with the 2 that did hit the net. Not sure why the second one is ruled out. They are saying offside, but I didnt think you could be offside from a throw in? Much better 2nd half. Maswanhise is the one player we have with real pace and it makes so much of a difference. Slight change of shape second half as well which was good to see. Im liking Wimmers ability to change it up when plan A isnt working. Overall, a great 3 points and nice to be safe with 3 games to go. Will let the Executive Board get moving on our plans for next season.

I’d have to watch again but my initial view was that he was doing block tackle but Dundee players speed/momentum got him there sooner than our player expected. Regarding their “no goal” ball came in from the shy and was headed goalwards. There was a player in offside position behind Thompson who made half hearted attempt to come and get the ball and I think they ruled it out for player in offside position interfering with play. Pretty soft, I’d be raging if was us and got disallowed for that.

Kmcalpin
Having seen the replays, I agree it was a 100% red card. I can also see why Dundee's 2nd goal was disallowed. At the very least, Robertson was distracting Ox. However, I suspect that it was for his movement towards Thompson. Had he been stationed out on a wing I would share Dundee's resentment. I understand Tony Docherty's ire at the officiating but he failed to mention it in relation to Dundee's win over us earlier in the season. What goes around comes around.
mothman
Credit to the manager and players for the changes/fightback. Good to see Ox in again - made a couple of big saves at 0-0. We got lucky for 2nd Dundee goal ruled out and 1st half we were pretty terrible. Nothing against O'Donnell but he passed the ball to opposition players/straight out the park numerous times. Feel a bit for Koutroumbis - he's been solid since getting a long-awaited chance, but a poor tackle so no arguements there. Off the back of that, be good to see 2 forwards as the starting formation for the last few games, maybe Seddon or Wilson back in the team and hopefully Liam Gordon returning from injury. Aye, I'm not a fan of VAR and would be happy to get rid of it, but while it's being used that was a pretty normal offside decision. He was active and interfered with Thompson, so under today's rules it was offside. No VAR and it would have been a goal. Likewise, no VAR and there would have been no sending off, but under today's rules it was a clear red. Dundee's form all season has been scoring first and losing late goals, so it was smart of us to go at them towards the end even with our 10 men. And still on course for 5 wins out of 5 post-split. weeyin
Top class journalism from the BBC where the "reporter" obviously had trouble with Wimmer's accent. ""We spoke about this at half-time, but the second half was brilliant with certain shots on goal" He said "thirteen shots on goal" ya big numptie. It was actually "shoots on goal" according to Wimmer 🤪🤪 Watched highlights and we definitely got lucky with disallowed goal but fir all of Doc's moaning he seems to forget the balmer head knock from previous game up there. Also considering the amount of horrendous decisions that have went against us we were due some luck. COYW
