Can’t say I’m impressed by the new rangers appointment but I don’t really know him. His CV doesn’t seem that great if the new owners are going to throw a bunch of money at them.
Hoping our new manager gives us something to look forward to.

I'm similar in that I'd rather it was someone unknown to us. However, I don't think there's any logic in that other than if it's someone I know, I probably gave him dogs abuse as an opposition manager. I don't like Robbie Neilson, but that's because he was the hearts manager, I have no insight into whether he'd be a good manager for us, or if some unknown Austrian is better.

It's the same with scottish players, we get more excited by a random North Macedonian over some dude from Morton. Even if the latter is the better player.

It would be Kettlewell/Hammell levels of depressing with the added bolt ons of Foster coming across as a smarmy arrogant prick into the bargain.

Don't get me wrong if he did get the job then I would get behind him as best I could but it would be the most depressing appointment I could ever imagine or remember us making.

No chance it will be foster, relax

We have the first pre season game in just over  3 weeks.  Does still having Ahmet there impede the search for a new manager or are we holding him to his contract on the basis that we might be able to get a fee  for him to join Wimmer?

I thought he had a good relationship with the players and would help any transition but money talks.

Michael Wimmer ‘officially’ resigned on 23rd May and walked straight into another job. That tends to suggest that he had already been making plans to leave long before then.

Exactly, it wouldn’t simply been a case of Wimmer completely out of the blue on the 23rd May saying “right folks that’s me off it was nice knowing you”. That had clearly been in motion for a period of time before that otherwise he wouldn’t have walked straight into another job.

It’s not obvious either way however I tend to think that if he really didn’t want it then he wouldn’t be doing it atall and would probably have left with Kettlewell.

I suspect that timing is the factor here. Frail has only had one game so far - against Celtic which inevitability ended in defeat so he can’t really be judged on that. If we win on Saturday and pick up something at Tannadice the following week then it’ll be easier for them to sell the appointment of Frail to the fans just like they did with Kettlewell and Hammell before him.

If you think back Hammell got the job on a ‘temporary’ basis, we beat St.Mirren and he was given the job on a permanent basis a few days later.

Same with Kettlewell, placed on interim charge, won two games against St.Mirren and Hearts and officially appointed within days.

I don’t see things being any different this time around and Stephen Frail is three, maybe four points away from a permanent appointment imo.

I don't think you'll be any closer this time.

I was trying to eek a few more out but couldn't,  so kudos to you, grizzly

The only thing is if you were doing a Hammell/Kettlewell 'who was the better' comparison, based on his service to the club I think Stevie Nicks it ...

Ironic that many of the posters cutting and pasting song titles from wikipedia as "jokes" are the same ones that complain about lazy journalists cutting and pasting "news" from websites.

Not quite. It would only be ironic if the posters were also employed as so-called professional journalists.

And they just publish second hand news anyway.

By sounds of the posters its just banal,  unfunny comments. Pretty mediocre and boring stuff. I would rather keep this forum to football matters and you can send boring jokes to separate forum. Gets tiresome.

And who appointed you gatekeeper?

It’s the close season, of course people are going to post things other than football matters. If you don’t like it, don’t read it or engage with it.

I’m enjoying it ! Let’s face it there’s really nothing to say about this topic at the moment. Well done to the club for keeping it under wraps. I just hope it’s a good surprise when they announce the new manager.

What else do you expect in close season?

Remember, the "TOP POSTER" in this, and pretty much every other topic in any season is grizzlyg
