Much improvement from Kettlewells so far. Some good signs that we are trying to play passing football. 68 percent possession. Was impressed with Longello and Watt. TW just gets better. Seethe/ anger on Imrie's face at the penalty decision and full time, priceless!

Which one? There were two. He would have got a better view our Ap Stam's claim than that of his own player's.ย

Other results today are not going for us, so its very unlikely we are going to be one of the 3 best group winners and be seeded.

So away at one of the Premiership clubs in the last 16 is looming.

Or Alloa, Thistle or St Johnstone...

We were unseeded last season and got Killie at home in the first knockout round.

Season before, we were seeded and drew St Mirren away.

Seeded you don't get Celtic Rangers Aberdeen or Hearts/Hibs last 16 most seasons. Play down the value of seeding if you like but it does give you a better route to the QF. The last 16 draw is a totally different animal if you are seeded. And, looking to your example, St Mirren away is better than Celtic etc away.

Getting through the group is the main thing so job done. But given the advantages the top league team is given throughout the group stage, being unseeded in the next round is an opportunity missed.

Frankly (and I say this every year) seeding in the cup draw is a nonsense. It's not like it was in European football where every single team has has to go through the group stages so finishing first rather than second in the group should entitle you to some advantage. But even there, I'm a bit 'open draw, see what happens'. If the 'big teams' want to win the cup, they need to beat everyone else anyway...

What I'm saying about the seeding is that whether you like it or not, there's no point in worrying about it because our history shows it has made little (if any) difference to our progress in the competition.

Personally, I think that by the time you reach the knockout stages in a cup competition there should be no seeding, but others may disagree. I'm not even a fan of the best runners up, tbh, but we just have to get on with it and keep winning.

The only purpose of the seeding is to keep the Ugly sisters apart till the final, as the SFA /SPFL do all in their power to pander to them its a feckin nonsense.

As far as I can tell the seeds are the 5 Euro teams plusย  Hearts, StJ and Partick.

Open draw after the round of 16 is it not?
So they have to use the hot and cold or rough and smooth ball ploy to keep them apart

I care who we draw because I want us to have a good cup run.

No doubt itโ€™ll be Celtic or Rangers home or away, or else Hearts at Tynecastle and that will be that for us.

If we draw Alloa at home you will still have us down for a 3-0 defeat ๐Ÿคช๐Ÿคช

Well Alloa have knocked us out of the League Cup once before soโ€ฆ

But in all honesty I would not trust Motherwell to win ANY Cup tie regardless of who the opposition is. I would though prefer us to have the easiest game on paper to give us the best chance.
