I actually think this will be a really tough one, St Johnstone have started incredibly well and look a decent side. Hard one to call.

Where’s the best place to park, been a while since I’ve been to PerthΒ

West Mains Avenue, south west of B &Q. There's also a wee bit of waste ground there, on which you can usually park for free. 10 minute walk to the stadium. You can also avoid congestion by driving through housing estates to Broxden roundabout.Β

Yes. My greatest concern is lack of firepower. Whilst I do like our current brand of football, I also like to see us hit the net a few times. We do seem to be utterly toothless.Β Β

I think the way we are playing certainly minimises opportunities for other teams to score against us as they have to work really hard to get the ball from us and keep it long enough to do something with it. Yesterday was impressive the way we hunted down in packs and won the ball back quickly when we lost it.

I do worry about our ability to score enough goals though and we do still look vulnerable from set pieces.

Hopefully Stama is fit enough to start and Said doesnst suffer any negative reaction to yesterday. I think he and Maswanhise either side of Stama could create chances.

Im gonna go 2-1 Motherwell.

Surely we will be playing our strongest team and in that case lennon must start.Β

Nah he will be gone this week and hopefully we can get a few new faces in before Saturday.Β  That's been the standard response for a few weeks now and like MJC's predictions all of them wrong.

So i agree it should be our strongest team in every game we play and if Miller is still a Motherwell player, he should play.

But but but but Tam Cowan said he’d signed with another side last week🀣

Cup games away from home to Championship teams are never easy, but we should have the quality to win this one.

After a blistering start in their opening league game, they struggled to break the deadlock in their game against Ross County on Friday. We'll need to find our shooting boots, though.

Anyone know how mcghees recovery is coming along ? Be good to have him slot into our defence .Β
Β

as much as I dislike Gogic yesterday I can’t help but think we’d benefit from this type of player at the back and going McGhee can do thisΒ

I'd much rather have a tall central defender that can pass a ball.

Gogic would have been a great player for us in SK's system, but not sure he is what we need now.

My money's on tomorrow

I'm getting a bit bored with the whole saga now, we know Miller is going, so I'm more interested in who we have lined up to come in, we are 2 games into the season, the transfer window clock is ticking so it needs sorted ASAP.

That's the problem with the media's need to publish new stories, often multiple times, daily - it gets boring very quickly.

Also one of the many issues with transfer windows.

Much better when we heard someone was leaving, and the only other thing we heard was the deal was complete.

It’s a shame as he’s been a great player to watch and see him develop into a class young player but I now want him to get out asap to raise some funds to help the manager recruit a few new players.Β

so……selfishly…. Thanks Lennon, the very best to you young man and I look forward to seeing you rise to the top….but please fk off soon 🀣

Definitely - much preferred the time prior to the transfer window when we didn't find out who we'd signed until the Satruday morning before a game. Normally when wee Tommy had been on the sauce and taken a late night call from his brother Jim.

There was a great article this week about how Porto managed to pull off an old-school transfer and keep it secret from everyone:

The striker was the last to board the plane he took from the Netherlands to Porto last Sunday and timed his arrival on matchday to avoid crossing paths with anyone. Upon landing, he was the first off the plane and ushered into a van with tinted windows that drove him to the stadium. His entourage – anonymous to fans – collected his luggage.

In the van the club’s social media team were secretly gathering footage. β€œIt’s quite strange,” De Jong told them. β€œIn these times, with so much social media, to keep something like this a secret … It’s going to be a big surprise. Let’s hope we can keep it quiet until the presentation.”

The real challenge was yet to come: the medical. To avoid raising suspicion, Porto had registered De Jong in the clinic’s system as a handball player. The doctors and nurses had no idea they were assessing a high-profile football transfer.

It was with shock and disbelief that the 49,000 fans in attendance greeted De Jong, who scored 18 goals and provided 13 assists for PSV last season before his contract expired. The stadium announcer had been calling the players out one by one and before introducing the captain, the last to be summoned, he teased a surprise signing, listing his previous clubs.

Then came the reveal: β€œAnd now, our new No 26, Luuk de Jong” – the cue for the 6ft 2in centre-forward to walk on to the pitch. Club journalists broadcasting the presentation had to look up his name to check his stats, caught out like everyone else. The plan was a success.

Full story here.

Having read it, you can see why it never happens now.

I've got this feeling, based on absolutely nothing at all, that the reason we're kinda stuck with the Miller transfer is that the offers aren't anything like what a lot of the fans think we're going to get. The time this is taking is around the club 'minimising the damage' with the fine detail of the transfer.

Basically, I think the club is in a difficult position here. Miller can go and sign for whoever he likes in less than a year and every club that's looking at him knows that. The alternatives the cub has are to take an offer that doesn't reach our valuation or let him go for circa Β£340K at the end of the season. Doesn't leave much negotiating room.

I'm not blaming the club here, because in the Bosman era, every player and every club knows the position and can 'wait it out' saving the buying club potentially millions and possibly putting millions into the pocket of the player.Β

As I said, not based on any knowledge or facts, just what's 'in my head'.

I think people are worrying about nothing.

Based on absolutely nothing at all, other than media reports that more than one team is at or close to our valuation, my hunch is he'll be sold for more than Turnbull and we'll get some nice future payments with add-ons.
