MOTM SC Freiburg 20-Aug-2026

[weeyin]

Top quality team.

Soft penalties.

Soft red cards.

Last minute goals.

A tough introduction to European Football proper.

Take your pick...

[Andy H]

Paulsen, was outstanding tonight.  We don't often get to see how good he is as he normally does not have much to do

Felt for Said, Every time he got the ball there were 3 surrounding him.

[grumpy]

Up until the red card it was between Paulsen, Moorman and Lowry. I went with Lowry, getting better with every game.

[Welly Machine]

Paulsen tonight. Calm on the ball and some really good saves.

Hodge looks like he could be a find and Lowry impressed with his work rate again.

[Ya Bezzer!]

Paulsen.

[Spiderpig]

Had to be paulsen, his saves kept it respectable he had a great game. A special mention for Hodge and Lowry as well.

[mio]

I thought JGR was outstanding, him and Moorman were my picks (Moorman would have got it pre red card) and a mention to young JKL and Hodge, who I thought did very well.

Im going with Moorman.

He was absolutely solid right up until the penalty and the red card, and Im not having it that it was anything other than simulation.

Otherwise the next time someone taps me on the shoulder I might just throw myself to the ground......

Then you’ll get a red card for simulation

I don't get this need for defenders to tug shirts, wrap arms or grab shoulders. Every single one of them a foul by the strict letter of the law and dependent on the competence of the ref to decide which ones are penalised.

Very soft award that would never have happened if he had taken the advice he was no doubt given as a 7 or 8 year old to keep his hands down.

All well and good.

But their players were constantly grabbing shirts, coming thru the back of their opponents and committing technical fouls and went largely unpunished.

If the ref gave all of those and booked their players as well, Id have no complaints.

[grizzlyg]

Really tough call.  I think Hodge is a great find but I went for Jamie KL

[Kmcalpin]

JGR gets my vote although Hodge wasn't far behind. Moormann was a contender until his red card. I thought about Paulsen as he had some very good saves and distribution was excellent but his aerial ability, or rather lack of, let him down a bit.

[Well-Made]

Went Paulsen he made a couple of decent saves and was very comfortable with the ball at his feet. Moorman had played well up to the "red" card... Still trying to figure out what that was for... shout out to the whole team for keeping going and not collapsing after that.

I think JGR has been great for us.  Moormann getting a lot of praise and rightly so but big Jake has been excellent

If we ever manage to get everyone fit, I think we have done a good job in recruiting the new defence.

[texanwellfan]

Our defense looking pretty good, our midfield looking pretty good, surely we can get one or two of the forwards on our books to start scoring?

AP, Hendry, Thor, JT, RCC, new guy.
