  1. Past hour
  2. You think the players let him win?
  3. I've said it before, but it bears repeating. It's ridiculous that after selling MIller, we improved the quality of our midfield. It's the best combination I have ever seen at Fir Park. Imagine Gary McAllister lining up beside Just, Watt and Fadinger.
  4. Today
  5. Impressive that we've managed to unearth the quality that we have this season. Agree that Just is different calibre and no doubt all the mid to attack benefit from having him around. If we play our cards right we may retain likes of Fadinger, Watt, Priestman, Said, RCC and maybe Slattery v's likes of Welsh, TW and Just are all destined for far bigger clubs and good luck to them. I do wonder how much will boil down to whether Jens stays, as suspect many players would follow him. If he is willing to stick around suspect most of the players would give it another season, with the exception of TW who Im not convinced we want to keep forever ( I agree with other comments about him showing signs he cares more about himself than the team) For now at least we can continue to stay in dreamland and see how the remainder of the season plays out.
  6. I think he is the one player in the team we would struggle to replace. On top of being one of the best technical players in the team his work rate is ridiculous. Top player.
  7. I'm in my 50th year and this season will probably be my last playing football, so I'd like to go out on a high. I'm hoping that there will be another one of these fans games on at the end of the season, so that I have an excuse to treat myself for my birthday, travel up to Scotland, kick a ball about and have a few beers after. Few things to get the ball rolling: If anyone here has participated in past events, please share your experiences (behind the scenes and on the pitch). What is the standard like or is it all mixed abilities / fitness? Roughly how much could a place in the team cost (got to factor hotel and flights into my budget).
  8. Looks like he would still do a job at centre half! 😆😆😆
  9. Problem is we dont have limitless money, so the McLean wont be going anywhere unless we move altogether. Far more pressing issues. The McLean isnt without its problems, but I quite like the quirky nature of it. Gives the ground a distinctive look. Also allows us to milk the ugly sisters without having to share your matchday experience with them! 😉
  10. For me Its an eyesore and completely out of sync with the rest of the ground. Same as Pittodrie's beach end. If we are going to develop the ground lets make it look like a decent venue.
  11. Whats wrong with the McLean stand, thats probably the best of the 4 ?
  12. Good update from Kyrk Macmillan. If I had free reign and limitless money to upgrade Fir Park, I'd fill in the corners , remove the top tier of that South Stand Monstrosity, New Main Stand and new roof on the East Stand. The filled corners could compensate for the loss of the top tier of the South Stand
  13. In my view our business model requires that we sell at least one player a season to keep the wolves from the door and hopefully improve the squad with a new player as good or better to replace him and hopefully improve other positions with some of the cash. This season we’ve a few players that fit that plan who have more than 1 season left on their contracts so it’s an ideal scenario where we can both sell someone, keep others and improve the team. Possibly one or two players will be angling for a move in the summer but hopefully the chance of European football (I know a lot of folk think that counts for nothing but to play in Europe isn’t something many a fine player has managed and some say they regret it after their careers have ended) and possibly a slightly improved contract will temper their ambitions for another season as a good run in Europe could elevate them further and get them a better move next season. Add to that the extra cash they will get from wins/league position/european qualification bonuses and they might be happier than some folk think. Not all players think short term when looking at their careers and they may see staying here as the best option for their future.
  14. Another excellent interview by the chairman.
  15. Its irrelevant how long Fir Park has been there, the Cooper stand was meant to be a two tier structure until the residents of the houses behind it complained, so it was reduced in size. So you can be certain that any proposed development will be scrutenised line by line and there will be objections.
  16. I don't think there's any new houses that would be affected by rebuilding either stand?
  17. Thats a fair point. The existing structures have set a planning precedent in terms of land use and physical characeteristics such as height, parking etc. They've been there for years and thats half the battle. However be sure that the neighbours will scrutinise every comma and dot, and rightly so. The fact that the stadium has been there before many of the residents moved in won't stop opposition though.
  18. Rebuild the POD rebuild the Hunter if the new neighbours don’t like it then they can move Fir Park was well established before the new homes were built.
  19. I'm not dead against it, but as I mentioned in an earlier post getting the location right it key. Get that plot of land behind the college and almost nothing changes. Get stuck lumped bang in the middle of it, near the Sport Centre, or away up the far end behind the BOC road to Cleland and it becomes an issue. In terms of distance covered it wouldn't look like a massive change, that only comes in if you start to look at what else it entails. St Johnstone only moved 1.5km from Muirton Park but I wouldn't have classed McDairmid sitting on its tod stuck by the side of the dual carriageway on the outskirts of Perth as feeling part of the community. It's only now with new build houses and everything else that brings cropping up round about it that the town is starting to catch up to it but that's taken over 30 years. The plans for Ravenscraig have shifted quite a bit since the original idea, understandably, since a fair bit of EU money was expected to help it along. It seems now it's heading towards being a largely industrial complex. There's long been talk of adding 2 train stations (one between Motherwell - Shieldmuir and one between Holytown - Wishaw) which might help and a football stadium appearing might encourage other things to crop up but that took a generation in Perth.
  20. It could be argued that they were both already screwed before he joined them, but it's still funny.
  21. That's a shame , humble Stuart could have a hand in relegating two teams this season.
