  1. Past hour
  2. Ordinarily I would agree. I hate to see players going down too easily with insufficient contact to cause it, and Id love to see it removed from the game. That said, its not the world we live in and the authorities dont seem to want to change it, so what are we to do? The Gassama incident at Aberdeen is actually worse. Minimal contact didnt seem to be an issue there and Collum was of the opinion it met the standard and was a clear penalty. Its the inconsistency that boils folks piss. And it always appears to be inconsistent in favour of the big clubs.
  3. Wells was subbed back off after less than 30 minutes, hopefully an injury or tactical rather than a poor performance.
  4. The whole Martin Oneill at fir park looking as Maswanhise is all over the Celtic social media this morning….. please just fk the fk off!! You haveto laugh at them. no bother Celtic, pay us £9m the same as you paid for that championship donkey Adam Idah and we’ll think about it.
  5. Rumours from the East stand yesterday..... JBA knocked back the Aberdeen job. Welsh was pimped to Hearts,Hibs and Aberdeen. Aberdeen met Celtics valuation, but Welsh was not willing to travel. Apparently will be back with us next week and off down South in the summer.
  6. I would say it's exactly what a referee should be thinking and communicating to VAR, he has to be sure and communicate, he might be wrong but he only has one very quick look. I'll bet there is not one person who has been 100% certain over a decision at the game only to see a replay later and realised how wrong they were. He's giving the reason for his decision, VAR ignored that by looking for arm contact.
  7. In terms of loan players, Dylan Wells played 45 minutes for Stilring yesterday and Olly Whyte seems to have been outstanding again for Stenhousemuir.
  8. Yes, I'm sorry for the staff at Club 100, who lost their jobs of course, but the premises certainly piggy backed off MFC on matchdays as does the likes of Dalzell Bowling Club. Mrs Baillies was also closed yesterday for some reason and had it been open that might have taken some of the pressure off. Still, MFC would benefit yesterday from busier than usual hospitality sales. Discussed on P & B would the club be interested in acquiring the now vacant Club 100 premises for any purpose?
  9. I'd say not as good. Both do well on the ground but thats not the issue. Ward made the odd howler but yesterday Matty had about a 50% howler rate based on only 2 real saves admittedly. However he looks very frail in the air, much moreso than Ward did.
  10. Today
  11. Just noticed my dad was on the right track with his cerise and French grey comment. Between 1908 and 1913 Accies actually played in these muted colours, which HFK states were the racing colours of the Duke of Hamilton (note, not of Hamilton of Dalzell): https://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Scottish_Football_League/Hamilton_Academical/Hamilton_Academical.htm
  12. I noticed that they shut the Cooper Bar for a while as it reached capacity and the Centenary Bar was also mobbed. After effects of Club 100 closing so was nice to see the club benefitting and making some cash from hospitality.
  13. No great stand outs in any area so I’ve went for the keeper for his couple of saves and looking comfortable with the system we play.
  14. Hes looked like that ever since he came to Fir park, the " i dont want to be here look" . He contributed feck all yesterday, so we effectively started with a man down, he needs to be moved on ASAP.
  15. Not knocking him but I believe that this is partly due to him going down very easily and winning free kicks rather than him actually being fouled. Not that it’s a bad thing at times but he does seem to do it rather a lot.
  16. Is that sympathy for the support for watching this imposter try to play football.
  17. Whilst I understand the views that people have about removing VAR I would not be in favour of getting rid of technology completely. If we are getting rid of VAR we should invest that money in semi automated offside technology. Objective calls need to be correct and corrupt officials can easily influence them in their favour as well.
  18. The sad truth is the OF are the centre of the media’s world in Scotland . It’s all they talk about as it lines their pockets . I rather hope we keep him - at least until summer
  19. I love Maswanhise. He has really added to his game and his goals would be difficult to replace. But if a £4m plus bid comes in for him them he will be away. Hopefully we can keep this squad in tact to the end of the season though, as I think we have a real shot at the Scottish Cup this season. Especially after yesterdays results.
  20. There is so much assumption that Manwanhise will go to one of the OF. Our media think the OF are the centre of the world. Plenty English clubs will be looking and a couple of rumours that Birmingham City are going to test our resolve with a £4.2 million bid. A bid of that order would be very hard to ignore because no matter his performances until seasons end its unlikely to generate a return of £4.2 million. Sure his valuation could go higher if we were very lucky. A cup win wouldn't return that kind of money. A European run could but would need to involve group stage qualification and that's a huge "IF". Its a real dilemma for the club should these kind of figures materialise, glad I don't need to make the call.
  21. Yes, but we won't always have that against better teams. Ox is big and manager obviously doesn't fancy him as he cant play the ball to feet, i assume. So its really up to the manager what he wants from a keeper. Still Andy Goram was wee and he did ok.
  22. If we're playing with 70% possession, that's less of an issue.
  23. A better question would be how did he compare with Ward's first few games. If Connelly had the same run of games that Ward has been afforded he could develop to the same level.
  24. Today's game turned out just as I expected. Ross County park their buses and we struggle to break them down winning by a single goal or perhaps two at a push. We're through and thats all that counts. A much changed line up that took me by surprise but it worked just after some much needed adjustment. Maybe I'm in a minority of one but I wasn't overly impressed by Connelly today. Yes, he's excellent with the ball at his feet and pulled off one great save but also fumbled a fairly straightforward shot and looks most uncomfortable in the air. I didn't think Luca Ross did very much but thats probably due to the role he was asked to play. Liam Gordon was my MOTM. Hardly put a foot wrong and kept White in his pocket. Priestman too impressed and he's looking useful. Really encouraging too to see Jordan McGhee slot effortlessly into the back line. County made it difficult for us with their defensive tactics and gamesmanship, aided by a compliant referee. However patience paid off and that forced them out of their defensive shell. In the dying stages the team assumed it was game over and became a bit sloppy but County were unable to capitalise on that slackness. The big takeaway for me was our lack of punch in the box and it would seem that JBA agrees. We progress but there are still potentially exceedingly dangerous cup sides like Falkirk and St Mirren lying in wait, both of whom have the necessary qualities to do well in the tournament.
  25. That sounds like a reasonable guess.
  26. Thought SODs had a very good first half. Just and Fadinger had good games when they came on. Went for Oscar for his overall performance, although he did spoil it a little with a couple of slack balls at the end. Special mention for Said noising the shit out if Big Iacovitti! He is some boy!
