That Old Chestnut - Do We Move Or Do We Stay
joewarkfanclub replied to Kmcalpin's topic in Club Chat
Dont think we need to owe anyone or answer to anyone (other than the bank) if we move to Ravenscraig. But we will need the co-operation of the local authority and other partner agencies if we are building new. Clearly a new purpose built stadium to see us into the future would be beneficial for all sorts of reasons, but it doesnt necessarily mean it is going to happen. One of the biggest obstructions is that local authoritues dont have any money for redevelopment of town centres and with the hit to the high street after Covid, Im not sure a new shopping/leisure development is even feasible anymore. It might be that remaining at Fir Park is the only feasible option right now. -

Not expecting Coleraine to get into the next round, then?
-
These others will not have Motherwell FC at the heart of any decision making. Self interest and making money is the whole story. The Americans, for example that have put money into Scottish Clubs will pull the plug when they have made enough money or lost enough of it. The Clubs are just a vehicle to making money. Staying at FP means we won't owe or answer to anyone.

I think thats the minimum allocation as required by UEFA. Hopefully the club can negotiate enough to fulfill demand. I see the club are advertising dates TBC. Does who beats who decide the seeding? It all seems a bit mental having the draw before tge games are played, if it doesnt benefit by way of planning & preparation.

If wrong change your name to magoo 🤣

Helsinki's official away fans' allocation for UEFA games is 509, Coleraine's is 137 if I read that right but to be fair that was without my glasses.
-
That’s me booked Wed to Friday in Helsinki. Flights not refundable but will go anyway for the trip !
-
The order was decided by the draw, not by seeding. If we progress, the games will be: 6 August – Away at either HJK Helsinki or Coleraine 13 August – Home
-
Happy with that draw but we need to get past HB first and that wont be easy
-
Not to fling shade onto this but I have real doubts we will get passed HB.
-
Anyone found ‘cheap’ flights?!
-
No think UEFA said seeded team home first 🤞
-
What’s order of home and away ties? Is toxteth correct or just hoping?
-
Away first
-
Helsinki or Coleraine
-
Won't know til it's made...
-
Sorry I'm unable to move the quote down for my reply. Tried to read the UEFA page but is it confirmed which set of teams is home/away for the 3rd round?
-
Lack of involvement in what? 90% of any player's professional life is training. Even more than that pre-season. If he'd picked up an injury while scoring his second goal in a competitive match, I'd be much more surprised.

The issue is we’re in a dense residential area and the residents are already inconvenienced upwards of 23x a season. The NIMBY brigade would be mobilised and in full swing. The delay due to public consultations etc and reworks of the plans would sap money and enthusiasm. Also, with all that in mind the footprint and height of any new building would probably have to conform to that of the existing stand. Hearts main stand almost doubled theirs by coming forward into that pedestrian plaza they created. Theres a very good spot by StAndrew7 over on P&B on costs from a professional point of view. The issue we have is most of our internal spaces within the POD are pretty narrow, think of the 91 suite. Even the Centenary isn’t a big space in hospitality terms. We’ll always be limited at FP but not as limited as St Mirren are limiting their capacity to 8,000, that was madness in our league. I do agree the multiple agencies involved in Ravenscraig would be a nightmare but a lot easier to deal with than a residents association leaning on councillors. The patrons of the Bullfrog got a pretty nice improvement in their two blaise pitches kyboshed. I’d actually halt the proposals for Dalziel Park and look to pump that spend into something at Ravenscraig to make it a campus and share the facilities for training and matchdays. The additional issue with Ravenscraig is that it’s 20 years behind where it should be. A lot of people staked their reputation on it being a success. Maybe back then a stadium would have been seen as a catalyst and anchor to stimulate redevelopment. Today I’d be m sure due to a lot of water passing under the bridge, projected revenues not realised and money leaching out, the required land would come with a price tag that makes it very tricky even with £10m in the bank. -

I don't know how anyone over 6 foot sat in the Centre of the Main Stand before the latest changes. -
Quite like to get Helsinki. Never been to Finland. Think it would be a cool trip. Looks like we will have the choice of a winnable tie with poor away allocation. Or A harder tie with better away allocation.

We could build the end bit in glass to avoid blocking out the light! -
Demolish and rebuild the POD with something along the lines of the main stand at Tynecastle. It won't even have to be as tall as the existing and can also remain at the same length avoiding the need to purchase neighbouring properties. Imagine a beautiful glass facade with a nice hospitality lounge within, decorated with fresh tribute to our beloved number 10.
