Of course he's had the new job lined up for maybe a few weeks and Motherwell obviously knew about it as we've agreed a compensation package. Nobody was going to announce it while we were still not safe from relegation were they. So why not ditch the conspiracy theories and accept he put his family 1st in a far more dignified and respectful way than Kettlewell did.
-
Aye the standard list of failed managers will be getting rolled out as we speak, Naismith, Docherty, Valakari, Kettlewell, Lennon, McGlynn, Ketsbaia, probably Ferguson will be on there as well. The optics for the club are not good but it was fun while it lasted, and I hope his family problems are resolved, all the best Michael.

Or maybe at the first Killie away trip to Fir park next season 🤔

No survey or debate required, VAR needs binned ASAP its ruining the game, especially the pound shop version we have in Scotland and the incompetent clowns running it.

2024/25 players vote for their players player of the year

Hard to argue with, he hardly missed a game all season, scored a few goals, so a decent choice among a distinct lack of contenders tbh. -
The Usual list of failed managers that gets rolled out every time there is a vacancy. We bucked the trend a bit by bringing Wimmer in, more clubs should do the same.

As much as people think we had a shit season, I keep saying judge the season in May, not before, we achieved an 8th place finish 17 points clear of the relegation spot, 12 clear of the playoff and secured a 41st consecutive season in the top league, so for me that's a decent season. Room for improvement yes there is but all told given the constraints we had re injuries etc we had a decent season.
-
I think the 31st of May is the official contract end date for the players.

Another wrong prediction, Groundhog day indeed.

I think EK will do well Dave, a lot of money to be invested in them now they are an SPFL team apparently. They are also talking about a new stadium as the K park is not really suitable for bigger crowds.

Mika Biereth is the most prolific goal scorer in Europe at the moment, pity we never got to see him at Fir park longer, thanks to Charles Dunne https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c8d19961m33o

At the level we operate at re transfers, and given our limited finances those type of players are well outwith our budget. We have seen what can happen when when you take a punt on a player, Higdon, and Bair being two good examples, so why not Armstrong, 4 goals already from limited game time, why he could not get a game for Carlisle is irrelevant. Its what he has done already and potentially could do for Motherwell that's important.
-
A great cross in from the right, that's his natural and best position, right back / wingback due to our mega injury list he's been playing centre half which he is feckin hopeless at so for me he deserves a bit of praise.
-
Bored or just older and more moaning faced like a lot of us 😀

Carlisle are now National League so I don't think they would be too difficult to deal with, I hope we would at least make an enquiry.

We had 80% possession 2nd half according to MW, the killie keeper had at least 3 great saves , they were offering feck all with 10 men behind the ball all the time. We played some great football and eventually scored 3 great goals and got what our play deserved.. A clean sheet, 3 great goals, a pumping and some payback for killie and McInnes for their tactics, so all in all I would say it was a great performance.
-
After tonights performance I'd be offering Armstrong a contract, Big strong target man, puts himself about etc and has scored a few goals exactly what we have missed all season, him up top with Stamatelopoulos might be a good pairing.
-
Slattery for me he was excellent, great finish for his goal, special mention for Armstrong.

Totally agree with more stability at the club both on and off the field, we should be building a team to last instead of replacing a majority of players every year. The problem with youth is that from an academy of say 15 to 20 players you will be lucky if you get 1 or 2 that make the grade to become 1st team players. If they are good enough they will get their chance but we will always need experienced players to form the bulk of the team, this approach is pretty much he same for every team in the league
-
Aye it's the usual out of work failed Scottish managers tombola, when ever a job comes available.
-
In all honesty where do you see a club of our size in terms of fanbase and financial means progressing to as a club? The ugly sisters, Aberdeen, Hearts, Hibs and probably Dundee untd are all much bigger clubs than us by those terms, so finishing 6th or 7th may be our level. For me staying in the premiership by aiming for a top 6 finish and a possible shot at a Euro place, and a few decent cup runs would make for a decent season, anything above that is a bonus.
-
The time for MW to take a team forward, is when its got a majority of his own choice players in it, those comfortable with the style he wants to play etc. Seeing out the season with what he inherited to avoid relegation and the playoffs was the main target, that he has achieved so next it's the rebuild, then we move forward.
-
I think we all need to wait a few weeks till all of the loan players and non renewed contracts are gone and then see who MW brings in to rebuild the squad alongside the players we know are staying for next season. All the pant wetting over SOD, McGinn, Paton, etc, getting extended deals when we don't know if they will even be regular starters next season depending on who MW brings in. So let's all wait till we see what sort of squad we have come August before we start the, relegation talk in September.

Get a grip ffs, how is getting beat by a team as equally shite as us this season embarrassing? Very poor, disappointing, etc etc but embarrassing i don't think so
