100% this, hes brutal, we have enough dross alleged strikers on the books already with Hendry and Stamatelopoulos, we dont need any more.

Thats exactly what should have been done, the simplest, quickest an cheapest option to get the seats compliant. But as i said there does not seem to have been much thought put into the whole process, the club knew since probably March that a european place was likely

I can only go on what i was told, but it seems blatantly obvious that nobody actually sat in one of them in situ or considered the dificulties of getting up and out of the way to let people get in and out of the rows which is the main issue with them, before the order was placed. They are not fit for purpose, but as i said earlier they are there to stay until we move to a new stadium or the POD is rebuilt. The club have dropped the ball with this fiasco and created a bigger issue which will not be resolved easily or quickly.

I noticed on Thursday night that the bucket seats in the lower section to the left of us have been replaced, so maybe there was not time to finish t hem all, but it looks like they are all being replaced.

Thats Lowry announced officially on the club whstsapp channel https://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/2026/07/25/alex-lowry-arrives-on-loan-from-wycombe-wanderers/

The old seats and the bucket seats were not UEFA compliant, as advised by Brian Caldwell when he called me in response to my email. The old seat only had a 4cm back rail UEFA rules call for seating with at least a 32cm back. So thats why both sets of seats were replaced. The comfy padded seats in the members / directors area are ok and will not be replaced. And as has previously been discussed the various limitations of the POD as it stands meant that the seating we got was the only available option. So short of major remodelling of the POD the new seats are here to stay until such times as we either move to a new stadium or rebuild the POD.

Its the start of the season we will be in draw mode for a few weeks.

Im Glad ive got an aisle seat, at least it gives me somewhere to go when people want in or out of the row, being in the middle must be a nightmare. Oh and dont lean on or grab the seat back for support, as it wont hold as i nearly found out to my cost last night 😂

Theres a reason he was put out on loan last season as he was not up to the style JBA had us playing, he subsequently could not get any signigicant game time at Raith, hes just not that good, especially at premiership level
-
Me too, slow pace, slow reactions i was very surprised he started ahead of longelo.

The sums of money mentioned to me would back up that statement.

I emailed the club after the Genk game to complain about the new pod seats, i subsequently received a phone call this afternoon from Brian Caldwell who explained the difficult choices the club faced in the pod to get the stand compliant for the HB game. He explained that for a host of reasons mainly the limitations of the pod in its current form it was a straight choice of either not using the seats in their old form, for the Euro games, with the resulting loss of revenue and relocation of ST holders that involved, undertaking extensive remodelling of the pod seat profile and reducing seat numbers to get new flip seats or go with the seats we have fitted now. So it seems that what we got was the only viable option open to the club, given the timescales and limitations involved. I think that the "new seats" will be with us for a while, but from what i was told i suspect that replacing the pod on the current footprint may be the preferred option, as i say thats my opinion, so i could be wrong. Having said all that it was nice to have some personal feedback on a complaint raised from the CEO, thats a good way to run a business so long may it continue.

He has just scored for St Mirren, they are 3-1 down though at home to East Kilbride

Scottish clubs and the national team need to start winning Euro tropies again, getting to the latter stages of every competition on a regular basis, winning more games etc, etc to increase the country and club coefficients. Unless this happens the Scottish club sides will always be starting their Euro adventures in June and July when all the teams from the good leagues are still on the beach sunning themselves. So for me playing winter or summer will make no difference if our teams are continually shite and failing to progress beyond the diddy team rounds.
-
For me that would be a bonus, as losing Slattery, Watt and Just has ripped the creative heart of the team out. This will be a big season for Fadinger, Priestman and possibly Williams to try to pick up the pieces.
-
Right in their faces from the first whistle, move the ball quickly and press high when not in possesion, and try to get the tie done at Fir Park, its knockout football no time for cautious play and holding back.

The overwhelming concensus so far re the "seat upgrades" in the POD seems to be that it has been a shambles and resulted in the pod now having the worst seats in the stadium. For me i hope the club are taking note and acknowloging an error has been made. The only decent response would be to admit the error and try to resolve the issue asap, if that means ripping the new seats out and replacing them with a proper fit for purpose seat then so be it. I know the ST prices were partially standardised over the 3 home stands, but now those fans in the pod are paying a premium price for the worst seats in the stadium, which is a disgrace.

Far too much pessimism on here re this game, we will pump them, a repeat of the last time we played them for me, a comfortable aggregate win.
-
Apart from the pay a decent deposit and take out a mortgage for the balance scenario, just like everybody else buying property does. Sell the naming rights for the stadium, rent out the facilities for corporate events etc,etc there are lots of ways to finance and raise the cash to service said finance.

Wilson is not up to the standard we need , hes too slow, and his final ball is average at best he struggled for game time on loan last season and i cant see him getting much game time this year as well.
-
Looks a promising signing, a former Derby county Academy player, 52 apperances for Burton in league 1, as always time will tell.

Our potential ECL Q3 opponents if we beat Havnar from the club whatsapp Third Qualifying Round Potential Opponents 1. LNZ Cherkasy (UKR) KAA Gent (BEL) 2. Beşiktaş JK (TUR) FC Midtjylland (DEN) 3. HJK Helsinki (FIN) Coleraine FC (NIR) 4. FC Twente (NED) - Ferencvárosi TC (h*n) 5. FC RFS (LVA)- Vestri (ISL)

All they had to do was fix some plywood to the back of the existing seat legs, some foam padding and paint, and the seats would have a back and be comfy and compliant, and no doubt a lot cheaper than the plastic tat we got.
-
It would only be selfish if nobody else got them as well, re the new pod seats if the well shop started selling inflateable cushions they will do a roaring trade.
-
Well said, thats a bit of positive action that needs to be taken, as the only viable solution for the POD is to demolish it and rebuild it fit for purpose for the demands and needs of the modern game.
