Win on Saturday and we are 3 points behind 6th place with a game in hand and a better goal difference. Not bad for a team that was relegated at half time tonight by the usual suspects on here.5 points

Well it looks like we can unwring oor knickers for another 7days... ...we can stop rattling on about no wins in 14...we can also stop rattling on about a team full of shitebags...we can also stop rattling on about being unable to win after going behind... ...Mon the positivity4 points

You can blame the keeper and Gallacher but the ball was originally lost when an excellent pass landed at the feet of Campbell at the other end of the pitch which he controlled and then had it taken off him like you would sweets of a kid. Someone has kidnapped him and replaced him with a vastly inferior version. Anyway not sure this team has any fight in them.3 points

Exactly...I'm 40 this year and have zero recollection of the club being anything other than a top level side, and have absolutely no desire to see us at a lower level... ...despite never seeing us being out of the top division, I've lost count of the amount of seasons where the doom-mongerers and surrender-monkeys within our support, have trotted out the 'this is our year', 'this is the worst ever team' pishy lines...its almost like they cannae wait to pounce. I'm not a happy clapper, this season has been rank rotten but we have been extremely unlucky in many games, either not getting the rub of the green and referees making absolutely incredible decisions against us. We have strengthened so far in the window as I doubt even the biggest tadger on here could suggest that Kelly isn't better than Chapman and that Lawless isnt an upgrade on Seedorf...yes we are on a hellish run of 14 without a win, but there are literally posters writing off our next 5 ffs. There are still a shitload of points to play for, we have a new manager in place and it's not like we are in anyway cut adrift at the bottom. The negativity is nauseating and it is also completely out of balance considering what is still to be played for.3 points

For quite a few years the club have always offered injured players contracts until they finish their rehab. I think it's an unofficial policy to offer that security to make the club more attractive to new signings. I imagine the new contracts in those circumstances will be next to nothing - enough for the player to pay the bills until they know what the future holds for them. Imagine coming to the end of your contract with no possibility of finding another club, no access to rehab facilities and no income. What we do is great for the player and good for the reputation of the club - I've no problem if Dunne is offered another contract.3 points

I thought Vigurs was decent. He looks a lot thinner than when he was at Fir Park. Probably because the pubs are shut.2 points

A number of core players need to be shown the door and youngsters promoted. Certainly can't be worse than these absolute flaps claiming to be professionals. If anyone seen Robinsons interview on not the old firm he pretty much made it clear there is is host of players that don't want to be there and think they are better. At the end of the day we could be relegated and players will move on. Even in this pandemic. Our supporting staff staff inevitable redundancies might not have it so good. So yes, this lot can ram it. I can't comment On how we are playing as its the end of the month, so I'm skint like most and can't justify throwing away money to watch a team with no fight. This is worse than the Malpas season.2 points

At first glance a 34 year old cast off from St Mirren isn't a great look on several levels. From the question marks from some about Martin Foyle to the budget being made available to the manager. It's a proposed signing that hardly fits in with the buy low, sell high ethos and you might argue if, as has been mooted, he's being signed for his attitude and character as much as his ability then that's perhaps an admission that allowing two such thirty-somethings who brought exactly that to walk out the door last summer has been proven to be wrong - or at least the failure to replicate those characteristics in the replacements For all that though, I know absolutely nothing of him. I don't really care where they come from or what age they are. If this guy can do a job and improve on what we have in the short to medium term and isn't going to break the bank, then regardless of the look I'm not going to overly upset.2 points

I don't think the team would be too effective in the trenches, we're lucky if we get one shot away every 90 minutes.2 points

I know someone who doesn't get to see the games, and when there was talk about players not trying or having an attitude problem, Watt was the first name he came up with. A real shame that kinda stuff hangs around, he's been by far our most consistent performer and a great example of what the fans are looking for.1 point
-
Huh? Barring tonight what goals have been his fault recently? This is just nonsense because we don't like potential wantaway players.1 point

Better on the ball than 90% of that squad. He's not a Turnbull type that single handedly turns the whole thing round, he's got a lot to learn and a lot of mistakes to make but by god he's a better player, with more potential than a lot of dross that's been played over him down the years. You don't do anything with non players. That shouldn't be something you even have to say but in Scottish football running about like a div is considered a footballing attribute over, say, passing, control, positioning, crossing, shooting.... I honestly despair at the garbage we give a chance over technically better youngsters. There is something badly wrong with our game but maybe, just maybe SOMEONE gets it now. I hope so.1 point

What a graft from Tony Watt, covers so much ground, rarely loses the ball and wins a power of free kicks . Decent performances from McGuire and Crawford as well. Like others have said, Campbell looks miles off the pace, nowhere near his usual self. I hate to say it, but if there's one CM that should be dropped, it's him. He could do with a break.1 point

A win worth much gold and very welcome, especially considering the opposition. However, one swallow doesn't make a summer but it's a start.1 point

As always, majority on here were all over the place in the first half. The goal aside it was a bit of a nothing half, some chances for both sides but not much in it for either side. Second half we turned the screw, and it looked like the winner was a matter of time after the equaliser. Won't criticise any performances because we have won, certain aspects could be better but let's not get ahead of ourselves. Maguire had a good game. Watt was excellent, kelly and the defence recovered well after the mess at the goal. Chris long looked much more lively in the second half too. Plenty of positives to take from. Huge win for everybody, especially coming back from behind in the way we did. Huge weight off the shoulders of the players and managment, time to kick on1 point

Given that it says staff costs are £4m but the player wages only come to £1.5m I think we can safely it's pish. We would need to have another 50 employees earning an average of nearly 50 grand a week.1 point

A victory? It'll be quiet on here tonight. I misread the ko time and clocked in on the "pre-match comments" and felt like giving up........ How can so many learned pundits be wrong? COYW!1 point

For a squad with no bottle it takes a big effort to come back from a goal down in a relegation dogfight like this. Fair play to Alexander, he may have them believing they can win games now.1 point

Tony Watt should get a pay rise for having to play with this shite every week. Only one of a very few who looks interested every week.1 point

Id go with a diamond...... Kelly SOD Mugabi Deccy Carroll Maguire Crawford Campbell Watt Cole Smith Lets just get right intae thum! Edit - unless Lawless is fit then Id drop Crawford.1 point

The midfield IS the real concern. Polworth has been shocking recently, and the midfield have not been supporting the front players, hence the lack of goals,1 point

We're crying out for leadership on the pitch, if this guy can use his experience to provide it then it might improve the performances of those around him. Reading the transfer talk on here reminds me of that Groucho Marx comment about refusing to join any Club that would have him as a member. We have fans who wouldn't want to sign any player who would be willing to play for us.1 point

I think Foley will do just fine if we sign him, he was brilliant in Beverley Hills Cop..........ah'll get me coat1 point

Guy I used to work is a st Mirren fan (his name is Alan...not Guy......ba boom). Anyway he said Foley was good last season and POTY but legs gone this season. I suppose it would be some experience but personally I would worry about any Martin Foyle recommendation these days1 point

If your in the lower leagues the chances of you being able to attract players decent enough to enjoy the football and get you to cup finals are far reduced. There will be next to zero chance of qualifying for Europe, yes, we get pumped out early but we are still in it and the experience not just for the players but the fans can be superb. I dare say, that Nancy trip will never be forgotten for the thousands of us that made the jaunt.1 point

If you find the negativity nauseating, I find some of the positivity perplexing. I'll go down the road of realism and see where that leads. I'm 52. The last time we were relegated from the Premier I was 16. That's a truly phenomenal record we should be proud of, conveniently forgetting the 2 get out of jail cards. The odds would tell us it'll come again, but I'm hopeful we can keep defying them for a while longer. When teams do go down it's not just because they're shit. Injuries, poor refereeing decisions and general bad luck all play their part. This season's turning into a cluster **** of all those things. We've lost a manager more than halfway through the season (another relegation prerequisite) and his parting shot is, there are players in this squad who don't want to be here. If he's right, these are some of the guys we're relying on to save us. All in all, I don't think it's unreasonable to be worried at this stage. A win tomorrow would go a long, long way to lifting everyone's expectations. But this season - specifically this season - laying any blame for our predicament at the fans door is like blaming Sportscene viewers for Celtic's collapse.1 point

The silence from the board is absolutely baffling. We find ourselves in the biggest mess in 30 + years. As someone suggested earlier, even Baracloughs team had players like Hammell and Lasley coupled with a bit of quality like McDonald and McManus (not great but clearly good enough and a leader) - this squad has nothing about it. Neither grit, determination or quality. We are sleep walking to relegation. The board should be coming out in the wake of last weeks financial results and at least making it public that they will support the manager to the fullest extent possible. Sadly, once again, the overall leadership is sorely lacking-1 points

Totally agree. Mods need to have a long hard look at themselves. Personally I hadn't posted in the thread for a while but the topic is still absolutely relevant to this season and what's happening. If individuals are going too far in the thread deal with them separately. The official club media outlets can act as Motherwell Pravda. We don't need it here.-1 points
