  2. I think Polworth has been giving Maguire advice at half time

  3. Mind at half time in the County game people were saying things like they had accepted our time as a top flight side was over, and that we were certainties for the drop, and that this was the worst Motherwell team in 50 years?

  6. So 5 games into GA reign, 2 wins 2 draws 1 defeat. I think he has started well and will be getting to know all the players. I genuinely believe he will be an excellent appointment . I like the way he comes across and if long improvement is an example then hopefully he can get more out of this squad and in time add his own players come the summer...COYW

  7. I wouldn't have him in say the midfield three but in between there and the strikers could work and allow us to play two strikers closer together,I agree he is doing a good job where he is,it might just be another option for certain games.

  8. Watt is a forward not a midfielder, let's not go back to Robbo square pegs in round holes. Tony doing a great job where he is

  9. Should we play Watt deeper, he is never going to score a goal but he can take the ball for a run and get us up the park

  10. Getting six of them against Celtic would be good

  11. Lots of contenders this week. Kelly was generally quiet but 2 top drawer saves at the end. Carroll was the pick of the defenders although Lamie was surprisingly solid and Mugabi excellent tight up until he lost his man for the goal. Tony Watt put in his usual 8/10 performance. Chris Long - where has he been? But big Devante has to take it. Just outstanding holding the ball up, occupying defenders, driving forward with the ball at his feet, fabulous finish for his goal. Probably should have had a couple more but for some very good goalkeeping. Starting to look like a proper no9.

  12. Yes it was scary at end and the subs like robinsons were so negative and invited them to come at us. But and it's a big but if it wasnt for utd keeper we would have scored 5/6 or more. Kelly has made 2 great saves and we are praising him to high heavens so let's not forget our forward play which was best wev been all season. Cole outstanding with watt not far behind and even long with his best game in a year. I dont know where that performance came from and other than last 15 mins it was very good and another step forward from county game. We are improving rapidly and thank god for that.

  13. That was a proper game tonight. We could easily have been out of sight but given how mundane much of this season has been, I actually enjoyed riding the nerves for the last 10/15 mins. There’s obviously a few areas that need improving but there’s so many positives to cherish tonight, from our very assured keeper to the incisive interplay of our front three. Miles better that where we were for much of 2020.

  14. Remove the utd players boot first before you attempt to give him his nose back grizzly, absolutely shocking we didn't get a penalty, just glad it didn't cost us in the end.

  15. Thoroughly enjoyed that, in a perverse masochistic type of way! First and foremost its a great 3 points. Took us 10-15 mins to get to grips with Uniteds press and it certainly caused us problems, but even then, they didnt create many clear cut chances. After that we dominated the first half and really shoulda been outta site by half time. Siegrists save from Mugabi really was top drawer. 2nd half United had a lot of the ball but again we defended it very well and created the much better chances and shouldve extended our lead. They did have a decent shout for a pen when Cole barged into their player on the edge of the box but it wouldve soft compared to the challenge on McGinley that wasnt given. All in all we probably deserved the win over the piece albeit we made ourselves work hard for it at the end. Great performances all over the park. Mugabi played very well, the goal aside, Lamie surprised me how solid he was in the middle. Carroll was excellent tonight and showed the player he can be. Much better from Alan Campbell. Maguire had a few slack passes and the odd poor corner but you can see his quality and he will benefit from a run of games. The front 3 looked great. Seem to he getting a good understanding. Chris Long, where has that guy been hiding all season? Tony Watt was brilliant again, more so 2nd half. He holds the ball up so well and gets us up the pitch. Cole is starting to look a real handful as well and good to see him get another goal. Kelly though, again was a matchwinner. He will be disappointed that we conceed from the corner after such an exceptional save. However, his one on one just after that was as good as a goal. Would be great if there was any chance of us keeping him at the end of the season. Still plenty room for improvement. We will need to see some more for Saturday.

  17. Lamie & Kelly our stand out performers in the second half. Not even kidding about Lamie either, much more competent at CB. The most worrying thing is how our midfield naturally just sit in as games go on. This happened under Robbo and is continuing under GA. It's almost entirely linked to Watt being subbed too, he's the only player we have that can relieve pressure. I can't remember the last time Watt lost the ball. Even when he's clearly blowing out his arse he can still take the ball for a run or win a free kick.

  18. There's times when we could have played all night and not scored. Tonight we could have score 5, 6 easy. We've got a goalkeeper, we defended OK, we created and scored goals. We're not going to dominate for 90 minutes most weeks but all the signs are there that we are going forward again. Hopefully we go to Celtic Park now with a St.Mirren/Livingston type attitude.

  19. That was one of the most obvious penalties I have ever seen. No idea why the ref never gave it. Bonkers!

  20. Pummelled is a bit of an exaggeration, Kelly only had about 2 or 3 saves to make the whole game, untd had lots of possession but done next to nothing with it, even their goal should have been cleared by Cole i think on the back post, lokked as though it went in off him Given the chances we missed we should have been out of site long before they scored, so a great win, and untd and Killie right back in the relegation fight, so a good night's work

  21. I'll take that result, but the performance must improve. To be pummeled by a poor Dundee United team says it all. Three points that I'm very grateful that we got, but FFS, we need to play both halves of a game.

  22. Cole is three times the player this time around. His first touch is tremendous at times. Lamie is also much better at CB than LB.

  30. If he plays for us again he triggers an extra year which for talking sake might guarantee him £150,000. If he is a free agent at the end of the season I expect he could get himself a multi year contract which is worth at least £500,000. It's a lot of money. I hope this is the last we see of these types of contracts because it's always likely one party or the other will end up unhappy.

  32. If Gallagher is not injured then this is the first big test of Alexanders tenure. Should it turn out he isn't injured then he clearly doesn't want to play for us then the manager must show his strength and leave him in the stand for the rest of the season .Hope to hear he is genuinely is injured and back in the team on Saturday

  33. I can't see what the club or Gallagher would have to gain. This is what happens when someone makes accusations against unnamed players.

  34. A lot of assumptions being made here, including that that club are total mugs. Let's hang fire on the pant wetting until we know some facts.

  35. If it's Gallagher out, scan being true or not, the rumours will swirl. Not ideal. Quite an easy one to stamp out mind you with a wee soundbite from club or player if indeed that is required. Hoping it's Lamie.

  39. Am I missing something what has McGinley done wrong? I’m on the bandwagon for Lamie though, should have been signed as nothing more than back up, however I think McGinley is more than capable of doing a job, unless he’s not doing it in training but whenever I’ve watched him he’s been decent.

  40. I don’t know if this is allowed so delete if not. I’d say it’s Motherwell related with how much of a impact mental health has on Motherwell and the surrounding area. I’m trying to run 5k everyday through February to raise funds for Chris House a local mental health charity. Please donate if you can(new signing Sam Foley thought it was a worthy cause) https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/ross-andrew2 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
