I would argue that we (decent members of society) should be campaigning to bring down the corrupt government at Westminster before we start to revert to an early 20th century lifestyle to mitigate impacts of cost/shortage. Scotland is a net exporter of energy, yet we are shafted. The solution doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out.4 points

Plenty of positives last night. I haven't enjoyed a game as much for a long time. Plenty of intensity, energy and good, exciting, football on the deck. Such a change from GA's reign. Good to see young lads like Lennon Miller get their chance and Stuart McKinstry coming home and performing well. A good all round team effort. I was impressesd with McGinn and especially Penney. Midfield created plenty of chances, Van Veen was in the mood, Tierney really caught the eye (needs to improve his finishing though), and Efford was a revelation on the wing. The caveat is, of course, that we were playing an out of form Championship side. Still you can only beat the team in front of you. Penney looks to be a particularly good acquisition and Stuart McKinstry caught the eye with some really nice play. Not sure about the second penalty but our general style and standard of play last night brought them about. In any event, ICT were a shade fortunate not to pick up more yellow cards and possibly a red, so they can't complain too much. I have to agree wth El Grew though. We should have scored 7 or 8, but lacked a killer touch in the box, which was concerning and Stevie Hammell picked up on this in his post match comments. It wasn't costly against ICT last night but it could be against better quality opposition. This deficiency though should be put in the context of an otherwise very good performance last night.4 points

Don’t like bringing politics into this forum but Scotland can produce/export as much energy as you like but until those producers are publicly owned the price we pay will be linked to the profit the company can make. Corrupt government at Westminster, Holyrood or wherever.3 points

He's not under fire. Seems no-one is allowed to make any comments about Kelly unless it's to worship him as it seems remarks about his ability for dealing with high balls and distribution and comparisons with previous keepers (choosing Chapman for this, is of course one option) are taken as unacceptable.3 points

This is an absolutely terrible comment...Did you actually go to the game?.. We created lots of chances, lots of one touch football and free flowing stuff all over the park...ball was pinged about on the deck all over the place. Efford probably had his best game for us on the right. Tierney was unplayable and Goss was spraying great passes all over the park. Defence were outstanding when called upon and mopped everything up. Even under pressure they didn't punt it up the park and played the ball on the deck out of bother. I have no problems about where the goals come from as the players were breaking their neck to get in about the goals and were just unlucky not to score.3 points

At least your attempting to educate the uneducated. That’s very kind of you.2 points

Very early days obviously but there has definitely been an upturn in the general mood around the club and support since Hammell took over. The team is not great but unlike under Alexander and Robinson before him, the players actually look like they are enjoying it more. I often criticise our social media publications but you can see it in the videos coming out of the ‘story’ of the game that the mood in the dressing room is good. I can’t speak for everyone but I certainly have enjoyed going to the last few games more so than I did for the majority of last season and there is a sense that there is more of a ‘vision’ if you pardon the cliché. Seeing young, homegrown players making their debut is something to get you looking forward to going to games and you hope that they will develop into players who can make their mark on the first team before they inevitably move on. I don’t expect big things from us this season but I think there are grounds for cautious optimism that we are getting onto the right track.2 points

I would rather someone launch him into row Z in the first few minutes. By all accounts from United fans feedback his best game for them was against us last season and of course his only goal for them came in that match. While I don't think they'll be as easy to beat as the like of AZ, St Mirren and Celtic found I'm confident we can take home the three points.1 point

Moult is only 30 so, if fit, would have a few good years left. If he passed a thorough medical and was given the opportunity to get match fit over a couple of months, who is to say that he could not recapture the form of old. I think a player's environment had a big part to play with some players, particularly strikers. An injury free Moult would be well worth the risk.1 point

6/7 years older having done nothing since he left and being hampered by injury why would that thought occur.1 point

Doesn't matter what colour rosette they wear same old handshake for the vote and two fingers soon as they are picking up a fat wage!Plus they don't care for football supporters at Holyrood think that's been proved and the SFA are too thick to do anything about it. Answer would be something like just install solar panels or have fans cycling on seats to generate enough power to light up the floodlights.1 point

The current Celtic side is the strongest they’ve had in years, probably even more so than Brendan Rodgers sides. They rested several players last night yet were able to bring in the likes of Turnbull, Forrest, Siegrist, Starfelt, Mooy. That is incredible squad depth. The way they play is very difficult for the rest of the league to live with, they are fast paced and press high up the park for almost the entire 90 minutes. That being said though, there has definitely been a mentality issue from us when facing them and the other Glasgow lot over the past decade. Even when Celtic were at their worst in years in 20/21 and with no support in to give them a vocal advantage we still couldn’t lay a glove on them and lost 3-0, 4-1 and 2-1. Too often we are beaten before a ball is kicked.1 point

I agree with u on the"crisis"but guys on here flapping that we desperately need a CM,im happy to go with what we have says on footmob we have 10 midfielders on our books, add penney and SOD as wing backs and we have more than enough to shuffle the pack1 point

Id say we defo dont have a midfield crisis, we need a centre half and a striker, not a midfielder1 point

Hopefully our record against both Celtic , and the other mob improves under Hammell Cant remember any Motherwell side going 4 years in a row without picking up even a draw against them, for years and years some of Celtic’s toughest games of the season were at Fir Park, would be great to cause a shock in the next round1 point

Our last midweek game against them was a 4-0 defeat in February 2020. The 1-1 draw in December 2018 was the last time we didn’t lose to them. I have actually lost count how many straight losses we’ve had to them since then. edit: it’s twelve straight losses. 0-3, 1-4, 2-5, 0-2, 0-4, 0-3, 1-4, 1-2, 0-2, 0-1, 0-4, 0-6.1 point

Quite a few of his Scotland u17 team mates moved to bigger clubs during the summer so getting him signed was great work by the club. We lost Bailey Rice to Rangers, Ben Doak went from Celtic to Liverpool, Rory Wilson from Rangers to Aston Villa and Charlie McArthur Kilmarnock to Newcastle. We obviously can't match wages with bigger clubs but we can offer first team football.1 point

Have to say I like Stevie's interviews, comes across as passionate, sounds like he has a vision for the team and is under no illusions of the task in hand.1 point

Thought we were excellent last night. I understand we were playing a championship club, but Im struggling to recall a cup tie in recent memory where we looked so comfortable against a lower league opponent and despatched them with such ease. Remember this ICT team got to the play off final as recently as this May. I also wouldnt rate them any worse than Sligo and we know how that turned out. Its amazing the difference a new manager and a few weeks can make. There was an intensity, speed of thought and speed of pass that we just didnt get under GA. We played some really nice footbal with lovely interplay between Slattery, Goss, Spittal, Tierney and KVV. The movement off the ball was much better and we created some very good chances over and above the ones we scored. You can see little partnerships developing in all areas of the pitch and its clear to see that many of these players are indeed much better than they were allowed to show under the previous regime. Its still early days, and much tougher tests lie ahead, but its all very encouraging and actually a nice feeling to be enjoying going to the fitba again.1 point

Glad he had a good debut or he would have taken a POUNDing, I also believe his favourite player is Raheem STERLING. sorry folks, still happy after tonight's result1 point

It was a ridiculous comment and your constant doom mongering is getting tiresome and predictably boring. 4-0 at home and your still having a dig...some people are never bloody happy. Give it a rest and enjoy the performance and win for a change.1 point

Agree with this, i watched him tonight and a good number of his kick outs and throws went straight to an ICT player, and on the odd occasion when he did release the ball early it never found a Motherwell player, that's the part of his game that needs to improve.1 point

I know, was responding to the comments that someone made after the Doidge chat mentioning Clark had been available. I wouldn't have taken either of them...1 point

I think Doidge has struggled since that long lay off with the achilles injury he suffered. He's scored like 3 goals in his last 30 odd appearances.1 point

we need more signings to stop us losing the plot. The day Kelly becomes our weak link I'd be bloody delighted with what the rest of the squad looks like. Kelly was player of the year and man of the match in just about every game he played. A brilliant shot stopper and personal view his distribution is one of the best in the team. Wish we had more players who can ping it +30 yards and find the right man. He won't come for crosses or come off his line. Nor did Goram + plenty of others.1 point
-
We've had better keepers that never enjoyed the adulation Kelly receives. His distribution is poor and he's often slow to spot an opportunity to start an attack.1 point
