“If Faddy is fit, not the worst move.”
”If McCormack is fit, not the worst move.”
”If Moult is fit, not the worst move.”
”If Aarons is fit, not the worst move”.
If we bring in yet another ex player who has spent the best part of the last year out injured then we will officially become a full blown parody of ourselves.
Wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest to see James Scott back this month, injury or not. 🙄
A nice wee video for social media of him gazing at the empty swing park in the Duchess Park as his hair blows in the wind to welcome him back….then in the next pre-match press conference SH will tell us that he’s just trying to shake off a wee niggle and he’s hopeful he’ll be available before the end of the season.
I'd agree a lightweight midfield exposes a very average defence, a piss poor combination. Cornelius , Tierney and McKinstry are lightweights. Slattery and Goss iffy at best.
Think he was done after a week of arriving. Would have loved to have seen him live up to the “I’m home” joy at being back but it’s been sadly not to be
Ok no problem, Scott is probably not even on our radar, I simply think he does have attributes based on his time with us and he is still young, certainly a better option than many who have been signed in my view.
Hearing through Irish League chat that we are looking at Lee Bonis of Larne and Ronan Hale of Cliftonville to bolster attacking options. Bonis also wanted by Rotherham. Both have hit double figures in the last few seasons. Hale has a reputation for the spectacular goal while Bonis is more of a poacher. Conor McMenamin of Glentoran was also being looked at as an option but a fractured leg a few weeks back has cooled down the speculation.
Without having any info to back up my statement, since I can’t be arsed researching, it seems that a lot of players, of recent years, who do well here and move on, struggle to maintain/improve on their career with Campbell being a notable exception.
Two board members in particular bought into Alexander’s pish so much so we dumped a few highly respected back room staff and even brought in his mate who got put in charge of the doctor and physio and he wasn’t even qualified , all on Alexander’s say so. It was a mistake extending his contract but hindsight is a wonderful thing.
The board also backed Alexander with both Watt and Woolery - both mistakes.
They all received a hefty pay off that’s why we are skint and signed 2 loan crocks and are in a relegation battle and only able to sign 2 players / we are skint through massive mis management at board level .
Burrows should be chased out of town with his Scot vec cameraman CV - we are just too gullible to actually do it.
Absolutely spot on.
However it should be pointed out that our own support put massive pressure on the club to get what they wanted.
It might not have been possible to keep Alexander even if the club backed him.
I said it at the time and I'll say it again. Our supporters can shoulder a lot the blame over what has happened, and potentially, what does happen this season.
Not that anyone will ever admit that of course. You still get people blaming Alexander for our results this season.
We seem to have problems everywhere, if you read all the comments on this forum.
For me the biggest problem is midfield. we don't have players who track back, tackle and support the defence when the other team is on the ball. Or support the front men going forward. The fact that Goss and Slattery are there every week, shows the lack of depth we have in that area.
Not an easy fix.
