Folks wanted some deadwood out. Some of the boo boys biggest targets are gone. They wanted fresh blood in. We have signed a CB, LB, attacking MF, Winger and 3 strikers (albeit one is now injured). We still need that defensive MF and another CH, but Flow has stated there will be more announcements today. Given the absolute negativity on here for weeks about how we are doomed under Hammell, how about we give the guy a chance and get behind the team until the end of the season? The areas of weakness in the team have been identified. Hammel, Burrows and the board have done something about it. As supporters, we also have a role to play. That first win could be huge. Lets try and help it over the line tonight.6 points

I'm afraid starting 3 new players all at once exposes the lack of experience Hammy has. As for dropping McKinstry, absolute madness. Only one that looks like scoring last week. Last time McKinstry was sub Hammy had to put him on at half-time and he won Motherwell's man of the match (again). Although that isn't hard these days. As an aside. Did Van Veen have a single shot at St Mirren?3 points

As much as it’s great to see the new players I’m pretty disgusted at the dropping of our only two performers lately. Johnson and mckinstry do not deserve getting dropped to the bench.3 points

I’m failing to see shoehorning McGinn into our starting 11 curing our ills.3 points

It was, he slipped on a crisp poke and looked for a foul. Absolutely incredible2 points

I’ve been a great fan of stevie hammell over the years but we just don’t seem to have any sort of plan, so either he just can’t communicate his plan or the players are just ignoring him, it can’t go on, the definition of madness is doing the same things over and over but expecting a different result.2 points

We reap what we sow. Cheap option, the outcome of which many of us saw coming. I genuinely believe hammell is the worst manager in my 40 years watching Motherwell2 points

Im in disbelief at how far we have fallen and I can't see how Hammell gets us out of this. He doesn't have a clue but strangely I don't blame him, he couldn't turn down the job but even he must see its beyond him at this point. We should have appointed him as assistant or gave him someone with experience as his assistant. The simple fact remains............we have f****d it2 points

I posted earlier in the week that this game was not going to be any different regardless of new signings. Lots of problems but the main one is on the touchline. If he isn't going to fall on his sword then someone must remove him fucking quickly.2 points

It's good to see on here that Hammell is going wrong both by not changing the team and then tonight for changing the team.2 points

Id guess since Flow was still at work at 3am he is probably just getting up around now! Hopefully more news this afternoon. Ideally we would want both those positikns filled, but Id take one. If I had to choose it would be CDM as I think thats our big problem area and would take a lot of pressure of the defence, which hasnt actually lost that many goals in comparison with other teams.2 points

Fans need to be positive and up for this, as I keep saying if you have negativity coming from the stands it plays into opposition hands and doesn't help our lads .. COYW2 points

How many does he get. Each game brings with it the “must win” tag…….. and do we? Do we fuck. There’s nothing about this team that says we’re up for the fight. I’ve been going to Fir Park for nigh on 60 years and I’m struggling to think of a team that showed so little fight or direction from the coaching staff as the one tonight.1 point

Since Hammell took over, many players have regressed and none have improved. The team is no better now than it was last August and if anything its worse. He has also failed to address glaring weaknesses in defence and midfield. On top of that to have a weaker defence at the end of the window than when it opened is incredible. If the worst happens, there's absolutely no evidence that Hammell has what it takes to bring us back up.1 point

It's more like some of them have downed tools on the club. O'Donnell, Goss, Slattery and Kelly will be happy to see us relegated.1 point

We have a way of playing. Keeper throws ball to a defender , who passes it along the line a couple of times , then to one of our other six players in our half . Then pass it to the opposition. At least that looked like our style in the first half. Absolutely awful. Hammell must be telling them to do this.1 point

I've applauded my team off the park after a defeat on a few occasions just for showing fight and desire, but I'm sorry,i left tonight shaking my head at what I'd witnessed, absolutely nothing, not one leader among them,I fear for us now1 point

In terms of impact from new players and getting some sort of a positive reaction from senior pros, that's about as big a disaster of a performance you could ever wish to see. The body language and effort from almost everyone was horrific. Big favourites to go straight down after seeing that.1 point

You talk about the usual suspects as if backing the players and managers we have is something to be ashamed of. If memory serves me right, you are one of the usual suspects that has wanted every manager of the last 6-7 years sacked and look where we are now. Continually sacking managers is not a long term recipe for success. Remember you thought Robinson was shite? Look how St Mirren are doing at the moment. I am somebody who has backed every manager till the end ( except Malpas) but sadly I am going to go against that now and say that SH should probably walk. I did not think it was a good appointment in the summer. It was a huge gamble that has not worked. It does not give me any pleasure to say it and I don't regret giving him the benefit of the doubt over the last 6 months but time is up.1 point

there will be plenty of managers willing to take the job. Whether they can salvage anything is a different story. Sadly this is now as bad/if not worse than Malpas' time.1 point

Great social media though and the flattest park you could ever hope for....1 point

Agreed, hammell wasn't what we were needing at the start of the season and he certainly isn't now,the decision makers should never have put him in charge and realise there mistake and do something about it,we should do what aberdeen did with goodwin and remove him minutes after the final whistle.1 point

St Mirren with 5 ex well players, four are playing tonight are now 4th in the league. Nice to see old players and manager doing well.1 point

I don't remember seeing a team looking so devoid of ideas, structure, identity but most of all, fight.1 point

I would hope that Hammell himself walks after this, it’s beyond embarrassing.1 point

Could we at least try without Hammell in charge rather than just accepting it ? Maybe we turn it around second half but we’ve surely got this transfer window badly wrong leaving us in terrible position in both central defence and midfield, you really could not have tried harder to make the mistakes.1 point
-
Even if you’re out of form, the very least we should be doing is working hard and making it difficult for your opponent. We just don’t, we make ourselves far to easy to play through1 point

Now thats a post I can work with....... No one would argue that our midfield hasnt been dysfunctional. The problem we and Hammy has had is that without a transfer window he had to go with what he had. He has tried Maguire, Cornelius, and your 3 stooges in various combinations. None of them were significantly better than the others. We have brought in 1 midfielder in Danzaki and loaned out Maguire. So whilst the quality may have improved, numbers have not. It would be suicide to jettison any further midfielders until we have replacements, particularly since the 3 you object to are all on decent contracts and will be in no hurry to go anywhere. A decent DMF this afternoon would change the dynamic of our midfield significantly and allow Hammell to rotate on the basis of performance. That will also allow us cover for injuries / suspensions. We should always be trying to improve our team, but it has to be done with an element of reality.1 point

True, it’s a fine balancing act for Hammy to try to get it right tonight. At the very least, we would hope that the arrival of several new players would give rise to more effort and fight from the existing flock of under-performers, particularly the midfield.1 point

Thats the kind of black & white nonsense you always serve up. I dont know if you mean it or are just constantly trolling, but ever thought there might be a middle ground? Firstly, the board have just backed Hammell in the window with 7 signings and possibly 1 or 2 more to come. There is no way he is getting emptied any time soon, far less tonight. Secondly, the 3 stooges, as you call them, all do have some ability. But the mix isnt right and their form / confidence has suffered as a result. They shouldnt all play together tonight, and I doubt very much that they will. But until we see the final make up of the squad after today, I wouldnt be ditching any of them as we may need some or all of them individually at some point between now and the end of the season. The whole point of this window was to give Hammy choices. Choices that until now he did not have and forced him to play players together that clearly you dont like/rate. You are entitled to hold that opinion. But you never give an alternative as to what you would do differently. Lets just see what happens tonight. And PS, if you are just trolling for juvenile fun, well done, you caught a whopper!1 point

I've always said SH cannot be really judged until he has his own men. My criticism on Saturday was he had options yet played the exact same team the exact same way that has let us down time and again all season. His changes made a difference and I couldn't understand why he didn't start with that selection. He now has a number of his own players and the next couple of games will tell if things are changing. I still believe we need 7 points , 6 at worst from the next 3 games. I genuinely don't think we will get more than 2 or 3. However let's see . I sincerely hope I don't turn up at Fir Park to see an almost identical team to Saturday. Time for the faith SH has shown in some is over. I wish him well.1 point

All three we have signed must play tonight there is no reason not to play them and let’s face it they can’t be any worse than the players we have persisted with1 point
