  2. Off on a tangent there. Some who have seen both in development teams are just of the opinion that showing belief where the player could make mistakes and learn in the first team environment have been missed. That’s been to Aberdeen’s gain thus far.

  3. Yeah, I am very relieved we look to be dodging the likes of Hughes, Wright and McPake.

  6. I say one thing if Kettlewell gets the gig I hope to god he would be allowed to bring in a assistant of his choice. It was good to actually witness some in game management which has been sorely lacking.

  7. I don't disagree that he didn't chase any balls down or win a header. On the first issue, not really his strength, no point having a slow striker pressing. On the second, Obika is 6ft tall. Gallagher is 6ft5 (I think) and Taylor is 6ft2. As soon as we starting playing the ball to his chest, he was holding them off and laying it off to Johnston, the midfield and Van Veen. Was he fantastic? No, but he wasn't dreadful either...

  8. Hanging on at the end.....i dont think so Kelly never had a hard save to make 2nd half, all routine catches, St Mirren never came close to scoring anytime after their goal we defended and played well. As for the standard of Scottish football it is what it is, seriously what do people expect to see from two smaller clubs on a wet midweek night, it's never going to be an El Classico, if you wanted good silky football etc you should have stayed at home and watched the Arsenal v man city game, as you are never going to see it at Fir park.

  9. Daily Rancid reporting that 3 English Championship clubs showing an interest - Preston, Sheffield Utd and Luton Town. Utter bullshit. Somebody has a decent game and this shit-sheet picks 3 English clubs at random to make a story up. The guy is just 19 and in the foothills of what looks like a highly promising career BUT I just hope he shows better sense and judgment than two of our previous “potential stars” Slane and Hastie.

  10. Jack Ross would be my choice. Putting his 7 games at Dundee Utd aside his management record is impressive. Regularly around 50% win rate. Third place finish and two cup finals with Hibs. I suspect that if he wants it, it will be his. He will have a point to prove so he will be motivated. Exciting prospect should it come to pass.

  11. I'm not getting the Obika abuse. Aye, he was maybe a bit off the pace at times, but he was involved in various bits of play going forward, including the goal and when KVV sclaffed it past the post. A good few times he won flick ons, and if KVV was on his toes (he rarely is) we could have been in. His link-up play was generally more good than bad IMO. His general presence in being both a nuisance and a tank likely enabled KVV to do what he's good at and helped keep some pressure off the midfield to enable them to play a bit. For far too long we've had zero stick up front, resulting in everything just coming back at us.

  12. Look at Obika's contribution to the first goal and when he played in Aitchison towards the end. I thought he was very good overall.

  13. Fair do's pal. Let's hope we get him to sign a new contract

  14. Sorry but a 19 year old should be playing if any good to aid development he's not 16 i can see the argument for a 16 year old to be getting limited time but if your not breaking onto the first team by 19 its time to be looking elsewhere. We have been far to slow in progressing our top talent D Turnbull was a prime example of that he should have been starting at least a year before he was and was only introduced because Robinson was in the shit abs the team was bombing Turnbull turned it around.

  15. I could understand that line of thinking if he sees more bench time than starts in the coming weeks and months. I wasn't meaning you in my reply by the way, as it was others who were saying it beggars belief that Johnston has been benched a few times. I think starting five out of eight since his return isn't too bad in all honesty, and will hopefully increase as the season progresses. He's only turned 19 I think, and I'm sure the coaching staff will be keeping a close eye on him to ensure that he's given the correct amount of game time and isn't "overplayed" to any extent. On the contract front we should absolutely be doing all we can to get him tied down on a deal that reflects his position as the future in his position.

  17. It beggars belief that he had been on bench the previous games. Looks a great talent that will only improve. Always looking to put crosses in and with great delivery

  19. When we're used to players in the mould of Barry McGuire, the majority of the supporters demand we sign a player that can pass like Goss. However, when we get a player like Goss, everyone thinks we don't have enough Barry McGuires. It was also refreshing to see some in-game management from Kettlewell last night, and even Clarkson at times. A welcome relief from Hammell walking about thinking 'Oh My god' and Kerr thinking about fuck knows what.

  20. Goss added to his game last night by actually tackling and tracking runs. A team like ours can't have a midfielder who only sprays nice passes.

  21. That's a point I was trying to make earlier, On here and FB when team announced there was a pile on on Goss, especially...there's noone else in the team can spray it about like him, his pass for second goal, a prime example. When we aren't winning people want to have a pop at less physical players , anyway well done to the whole team Looked a lot more solid at back, Sunday will be stiffer , would take a point.

  22. I think if we give Kettlewell the job we’re going round in circles. He has not applied for the job so he shouldn’t get it. Job well done last night but I say go for the best person who has applied

  23. St mirren are having a good season by their standards, but you'd think they were legit challenging for third with some of the coverage they get. The reality is the teams from 4th to 12th are about the same, with the teams at the top end one or two injuries or bad decisions away from freefall. Goss and Spittal were excellent today, which is nice, as they have been nowhere near as bad as folk like to make out.

  25. We were on a hiding to nothing there. In Partick's absence, St Mirren are media darlings in the Premiership.

  27. Bit harsh yodo. Set up first goal and did all the dirty work. He ain't exactly Pirlo but was part of a team that got us a vital win.
