  1. Let's cut the guy some slack tonight. I know some will say..."aye....that's now 10 without a win" but I doubt anyone expected that result today. Knowing attitude of some then if we don't win next week there will still be calls for him to go but I am giving him whole of December as I still have belief in him. Enjoy yer night folks and sportscene highlights

  5. I lived through the relegation yo-yo years. I've always said going to watch football in the lower divisions is not as traumatic as some fans , who've known nothing else but top division football, think. Matchday experience is exactly the same emotions , same highs, same lows. You really weren't aware of the different standard. You went to most games expecting to win. If we were unfortunate enough to be relegated Id still go to the football is just as enjoyable. That said any Motherwell fan saying relegation would be a good reset process is utterly delusional. Once you are out the top division you run a risk of staying there if you don't get back up in one season. The cycle then kicks in, lower budget, poorer players, less appealing for players to sign. Being a fan owned club with a piss poor support we'd almost certainly look at part time football with 3/4 seasons . We then become exactly like Dunfermline, Falkirk, Partick Thistle - clubs of a similar size who cannot get out the lower divisions. Relegation is not good for the club in any way shape or form.

  6. When you think of the way he burned through the Phil O'Donnell transfer fee, bringing so little value to the club in return, it was criminal. Stevie Kirk, Paul McGrillen plus £150,00 to Falkirk to land Eddie May - ludicrous.

  7. Thought we would lose by a few the way the season has been going . Into the second half and was hoping we could sneak a 0-0 Once Turnbull scored I thought this will be the same old hard luck story Up steps Obika and things seem a bit more positive now . Really hoping we follow this result up today with 3 points next Saturday , nothing less

  8. Theres always the very slim chance of getting Mr Van Veen back too, That would be all i want for Xmas 😂 Just want to take a minute to express how big that penalty save was today by Kelly too, Yeh he hasent been his usual self the last few week but to be fair he very rarely or ever makes a howler. Which is pretty massive for someone in his position. He was great today 👏💛

  9. Wasn't just a good goal Obika scored today, he did some great blocking to make his chance.

  10. Wind yer neck in and read my preface to the post before jumping in with your tacketies. I began “As we are playing Celtic away it’s of no consequence at all…”

  12. I moaned my wee arse off in the first half about anti -football. Must say delighted that the team kept their shape, worked hard and did the basics well. Much prefer an ugly point than playing well and getting pumped +4 - 0 like many many times before. SK earned his coin today . Well done.

  13. Exactly enjoy the result,it's been a while since the team hasnt ruined our weekend 😂. big result that but both the manager and players have to back that up next week and use today as a real turning point for us.

  14. I'd made my comment about the match in my MOTM thread. The rest of the time I was actually watching (and enjoying*) the game rather than posting about it. *Enjoy - to get pleasure from something

  15. That was a superb result against all the odds. We need to build on this though and make sure that we pick up three points at home against Dundee next Saturday. I see it was Tom Boyd’s 58th birthday yesterday. So may I wish our ‘91 Cup winning captain a belated happy birthday and a Get it right fucking up him! The whinging, paranoid, chip on the shoulder prick that he is.

  16. And we voted it for it and pay through the fucking nose for it every season.

  17. 2 penalties, Taylor staying on the pitch and over 10 minutes of injury time. Even Celtic fans will struggle to spin that as the officials being against them.

  18. Yeah we got a draw, what were you hoping for another defeat?

  20. Spencer and Gent look to be attacking wingbacks not defensive fullbacks so to put them in a 4-4-2 v Celtic would certainly get the manager the sack after a double figure humping. Especially with Casey and Blaney paired at centreback.

  21. Spittal with the world's worst scorpion kick there.

  22. As well as we are defending, our reluctance to get out quickly will inevitably cost us. Our centre halves have got to scream at the whole team to get up the pitch on our rare breakways.

  23. McSkimming had actually been quite good at Kilmarnock and on the face of it felt like a natural replacement for Phil. Whether he was worth the transfer fee is another matter, and he obviously didnt live up to expectations, but I didnt think it was the wildest McLeish signing at the time. John Hendry and Andy Roddie were much worse.

  24. 3-6-1 reverting to 5-4-1 when required (most of the match).

  25. Ha - I was quickly changing that To be fair we're more than a man down most games due to selection and lack of quality .

  26. Just to remind folk we would have been in championship if it weren't for Kelly ..... remember Aaron Chapman

  27. Which he is, and which means he's more than good enough for Motherwell. If he was better than "bang average" he'd be earning more money elsewhere.

  28. I just think he is bang average.

  30. For me, it's not actively signing absolute bollocks, for a start. Honestly man, anyone with half a brain could see that our signings this summer were going to fail. I know I got grief for not buying into "the human project," but I was astounded as to why we'd waste what little money we had on players like that, some on multi-year contracts. There's absolutely no reason why we can't look to improve things above management level. We see other smaller clubs who have implemented sound signing policies and departments without spending a fortune. It would actually likely end up saving us money, as we hopefully wouldn't need to rush out every January and splurge on a new cast of players to try and replace the turgid crap we bought in the summer. Which, funnily enough, we're likely going to have to do this season again. Then we'll get to the summer and whoever is in charge will have the unenviable task of convincing some poor sap at another club to take the likes of Bair and Obika.

  31. If you read my subsequent posts above, you’ll see that this is not what I'm asking for or expecting. It doesnt have to be complete pish or a millionaire. There's a balanced middle ground to be found, but I fear we’re sleepwalking into complete pish.

  32. Forward thinking and ambitious costs serious cash, John Boyle tried that approach to make us the " third force in Scotland " as he put it and we all know how that ended. Football clubs are not normal businesses the successful one all have one or more very wealthy Individuals or companies behind them. At our level its a different world our average crowd is probably well under 5k, combine that with limited sponsorship, crap TV deals, etc and we don't have a lot of cash to spare so what we offer gets us the level of players we Currently have playing for us, but on those criteria we have done well over the years, top flight Football, cup win, euro qualification etc so we are where we are. If people want regular trophies, European group stage football, etc then unless we can persuade some multi millionaire to invest in the club its not going to happen. Bottom line we are a small provincial club suffering fan wise from our proximity to the ugly sisters which limits our spending power, but for me I wouldn't change a thing we've done allright.

  33. I'd argue that the rot at the back is in part due to the players being completely scunnered with bursting their arses for weeks and the strikers failing to deliver. A human can only continue to put in effort on their part without reward in the other related part before the natural drop-off begins, which we're now deep into. It's a confidence game, which we desperately need up top to allow us to hit teams hard and first. Some of the defenders still need to give themselves a shake, however.

  34. I hate saying this but 3-0 would actually be damage limitation....but if we could score a 4th it would just be awesome!! 🤪🤪

  36. VAR did look at the incident. Mugabi handled the ball. Also got away with one at the penalty. Kelly moved of his line before the kick was taken. VAR looked at said it was ok, it wasn't.

  37. I’m no fan of McLeish but he did play his part in Skippy Sunday by guiding his Rangers side to victory in their game at Easter Road so for that he gets a pass.

  38. I think a lot of us were hoodwinked into thinking he was a good keeper because of the incompetents before him , when it turns out he is only average , and getting picked for Scotland squads are the result of no one else available and Clarke must think this also given the number of minutes he played recently.

  39. Yes, that's also an issue. But what's caused Kelly's form to fall off a cliff?
