  1. Alfred is basically a slightly more cuddly, less scarey Jens (with hair). We are currently 3 points better off than we were this time last season. Even if we lose to Rangers we will still be 2 points better off after 5 games. All that with having totally replaced nearly the entire team. After the Rangers game we have a 10 day break. We then play Aberdeen and Dundee and go into the international break. I suspect that come October we will be starting to see the real Alfred Johansson Motherwell side. Im pretty excited about the prospect.

  2. I think there are a lot of things going on with Maswanhise at the moment. Firstly, he must be really disappointed that he hasnt got his big move over the close season like a number of his team mates. As the leagues top scorer, he probably thought it was a shoe in. Thats disappointing for him, but also for us as a club as we havent got top market value for him. Secondly, with the turnover of squad, he is no longer the main man up top. We have a number of players putting in top performances and challenging for his position. That will have him feeling the pressure a bit. Both those things will have him bursting a gut to prove he is still the main man and worthy of a big move. There is no shortage of effort from him. He puts in the hard yards tracking back and is always looking for the ball further forward. You can question his decision making (I have) and you can highlight his current poor form (I have) but the player hasnt spat the dummy. Now it looks like he is going to be with us until January, I think its time we circle the wagons and put an arm round him and see if we cant help him recover his form. He is our asset, and January is last chance saloon for us to make any money out of him.

  3. Incredible to see individual players being slated when we've just put in a superb team performance and got a great result. It was the same at the match last night when all I heard was Vogts being criticised. Not great goals, great performance, great start to the season..... It seems like even when things are about as good as they will ever be for Motherwell fans, a lot of them still want to whine and moan. Seriously, after last night we are talking about Maswanhise's alleged taxi conduct? It'd be funny if it wasn't also grim as fuck.

  4. Lennon Miller got the full 90 in the cup tonight.

  5. Could be a first. I’m 70 and I don’t remember it happening but that might be because I’m 70 😂

  6. I think we have selection headaches now, which is good, Whyte would have to be better than Lennon Miller to get into the midfield ahead of Hodge,Fadinger,Priestman

  7. I was disgusted with the season ticket holders behind me when they were calling him Willy Wonka. Absolutely disgraceful behaviour from so called supporters.

  8. Why is it always the people who accuse others of being a snowflake that take offence the quickest?

  9. What a fuckin snowflake. Why not take it how it was meant, as poking a little fun. If it bothers you that much ask me and I’ll stop. As for you @grizzlyg , thought you had a little bit more of a backbone who liked a little fun. Certainly a lot of wallopers in our support and we’ve uncovered at least 2 in this thread.

  11. The Diana-isation of society. Public displays of feelings and emotion all went downhill after Princess Di's car crash. Millenials and Gen-Z take some of the blame too. Not that I'm an miserable old Gen-Xer or anything. I'll bottle it up and let it kill me like a proper man.

  12. Yep, felt sad for him as it just wasn't happening. I reckon if still 1-0 AJ wouldn't have brought him on. Great man management at the end and I'm sure the players are all helping. Watch our bench when we score goals, willy always in thick of celebrations

  15. Every accusation is a confession, as they say. I don't complain about some of your weird and wonderful contributions (or about those from a few others). It's a fan opinion forum so I'll post what I like until the moderator says otherwise, thanks. Maswanhise's form has nose-dived since about February and I'm not sure his head is really with us. If we had received a reasonable offer before the end of the window, I would have happily jumped at the money. Perhaps there is a reason why his suitors seem not to be so keen on him. I would have been more concerned had Longelo left us. The new squad looks stronger than last season to me and potentially even more exciting so I'm really looking forward to them gelling now that the manager has more coaching time in the international break. If Alfred can work his magic on Maswanhise and restore him to his old form then that will be fine by me but ultimately that's up to the player. Let's wait and see what happens now he's with us until January at least.....

  18. At first I thought lower than that but 5800 home fans on midweek game and after all the European expense is very good. I think a lot of neutrals cone to watch us mow

  19. Aye but two days ago you couldnt see where our next win was coming from........

  20. We've averaged 59% possession over four league matches, two of which were away from home. That's pretty good.

  21. Ah it’s the ‘Hands across the M74’ derby. Love it. I watched Rangers game against Aberdeen on Sunday and it was very much a typical McInnes type performance and win, ie. pretty dull but effective in the end. They’ve had a shaky start but you can see Del starting to put his mark on that team and Shankland is back on the goal trail which will always carry a major threat as he is a lethal striker at this level. From our point of view we need to take confidence in last night and our recent very good record at Ibrox where I always feel far more confident of winning than I do when we play them at Fir Park. That said though I don’t see us getting anything on Saturday. 2-1 home win and plenty of bubbling and dribbling about the referee on here afterwards.

  22. I dont disagree with most of that, but Im not sure putting him out on loan helps. He isnt an academy kid who has lived here all his live and has family and friends nearby. Putting him out on loan might actually make matters worse. I think some strength and conditioning work would be helpful, but he looks lost at the moment so Id be keeping him close, showing him a bit of love (as Alfred did last night) and keep picking and choosing his minutes carefully. You may be right, he may just not have what it takes, but we should still treat him right and give him the best chance we can to show his best. Ultimately, if its not good enough, we shake hands and get him a move back to whatever level he can thrive at.

  24. Also when it gets weird and folk start going personal on the guy based on one persons interaction with him.

  25. It might be controversial but does he really need to go and clap the fans every 5 mins? I thought he was really good last night. Worked very hard and assisted 2 goals. If he turns up does his job and then wants to get ready to go home is that a major issue?

  27. Maybe the fans need to single him out for some vocal support, after all we are also called supporters, are we not? The boy is obviously frustrated and he struggled secomd half tonight but I can see his game heading in the right direction, overall. He just needs to relax and play and his performances will get back to the level they were. Add in a bit of morale support from the fans to help him and he will get there.

  28. Well, that was a good night out. The sending off certainly helped, but I felt that it was justified at the time, and I've not changed my opinion having seen it on Sportscene. I felt that, for all the neat build up play, it was going to be a long night. The Utd. keeper made some smart saves and there was some poor finishing before big Seb put one away. Great technique and a lovely finish. We seemed to lose concentration a bit for 10 minutes after that and the game got a little too open, but settled again and took complete control. The possession stats must be very one sided, and the pass count must be off the charts. Once the second went in there was no way back for Utd. A wonderful goal in build up and execution from Lowry. He really is showing us what he is capable of. The third, by Levitt, was another neat bit of interplay and a tidy finish. I guess that I was a bit disappointed that the team then decided that 3 was enough and spent the remainder of the game controlling possession and conserving energy. Very understandable, but I would have liked them to go on and get another couple. Anyway, nothing much to complain about. A good time to be a Well fan.

  29. Am lot of plaudits for Lowry tonight, and rightly so, he had a very good game. However, for me Joe Hodge gets MotM. He played things simple and very neat, while also being tenacious in the middle of the pitch.

  30. We don’t need seats anyway since we’re always standing up to sing for Motherwell. 😃.

  31. Even when we went 2-0 up there was always that nagging doubt for me. Especially against Dundee Utd at home where we have surrendered two goal leads on more than one occasion even when it hasn’t always resulted in us losing or drawing the game. It’s just traditionally been a fixture where we can never fully relax when two goals ahead (3-1 up in ‘91, 2-0 up and only drawing at home in 1999, the 4-5 game in 2005 - say no more). But tonight we just looked comfortable and home and dry once that third goal went in.

  33. Yes, the couple next to me complained immediately about their seats and were told they could move somewhere else if they weren't happy, and he had a business advert/sponsorship with the club! The club is coming across as insensitive and dismissive over this issue.

  34. Fair enough, of the solutions put forward, on paper it seems the best. Emphasis on "on paper". A bit disappointing as the email has a vibe of "options limited, meets requirements, stop moaning". While i've no doubt a lot of the moans are just that, there is certainly valid concerns, which i hope isn't lost on the board. Personally i am fine, getting in and out is an inconvenience i can grudgingly live with. However i am farily slim build and still relatively young... however, week on week i see others struggling, to the point where everyone around them is on high alert, offering a hand, etc. Meets requirements or not, that is not on. I'd urge Brian Caldwell to trial 3 consecutive games in the busiest section of that stand and see how he feels then. Really not much to ask IMO.

  35. It seems like Caldwell is marking his own homework here. The perception is now that the stand is unsafe and the matchday experience has been degraded. A condescending email that dismisses genuine concerns about safety is miles short of the required response. The Society board should get involved to resolve the situation.
