  2. Comments from the Herald on our performance against St Mirren. “Did Motherwell play badly? In truth not really but it was just all so meh. Goss and Slattery struggled to get to grips with Erhahon and O’Hara in the middle. They also lacked variety in their play, too often falling back to pelting the ball vaguely in the direction of van Veen or McKinstry hoping one of them could magic it into a goal.” It’s been like that for a long time as Goss and Slattery have served up the same insipid, weak performances since the season began and Hammell continues to play them. In truth, we have no midfield, and this has a twofold effect on the side: 1. When we don’t have the ball, they provide absolutely no protection to the defence. 2. When we have the ball, they provide absolutely no support or service to the strikers. Hammell sees this every week but fails to take action to sort it out. Under normal circumstances it would be foolish to say the club won’t sack him given he’s been allowed to bring in new players, however they allowed Alexander to do the same thing and then sacked him before our season had begun. At present the club appears rudderless and lacking in direction or leadership. I feel they are in stasis at present perhaps exacerbated by the CE’s resignation, a £1M loss and the current state of the team. A statement in the recent financial accounts is quite telling: “While the Club’s financial position is healthy in the short term the Club is acutely aware of the challenges it faces both in terms of operating in the current economic climate and running as a fan-owned club in an increasingly competitive and owner financed top flight. The main uncertainties to the future wellbeing of the club remain as; first team performance, broadcast income and match day attendance.” If they don’t get the playing side sorted out fast, these uncertainties will all hit and pretty damn hard.

  4. I'm hoping we stick with Goss, Slattery and Spittal. Otherwise the kidnapped children will surely never be seen again.

  5. Been on here since the Welltrust FC days, if MJC predicts a win it causes a ripple in the space-time continuum. Motherwell have, in fact, *never* won a game where MJC hasn’t predicted a loss beforehand. In life, it’s nice to have something you can depend on…😉

  6. I would go 3 - 5 - 2 Kelly Mcginn Blaney Lamie.......Johnston and O'Donnell wing backs. 3 midfielders of Cornelius, Tierney and Danzaki. Mandron (if fit) and KVV

  8. Was the theory not that it would save us money in the long run by reducing maintenance costs for the pitch..?

  9. The Daily Ranger has also reported that a move back to Norway might be in the cards for Sol, the next few days are going to be very interesting in terms of players coming and going. I actually prefer big Sol to Lamie, I swear I suffer from anxiety now with his extremely slow pace and launching balls out of play under no pressure, take him instead. On the injury front Mugabi isn't back in training until March, I think Efford is mid Feb, and McGinley and Carroll likely out for the season, perhaps beyond. I don't know if it's just the misery we have had with injuries but reading the worst on Mandron. Someone suggested they would be happy to keep McGinn at left back this season, after Saturday's showing I think a natural in that position is a must. A defensive midfield player would also be most welcome. Does anyone know the script with Morris?

  11. Celtic are looking to punt Yosuke Ideguchi and he's a central midfielder. Never seen him play but could be an improvement on what we already have. Maybe loan him in until the end of the season?

  14. That was me sir, should have stuck a tenner on it. Just watched highlights, another honking goal. I know it's for charity but that strip really doesn't do it for me. I know that's not our major problem but jeez I needed sunglasses to watch it 😎😎

  15. Don’t know who posted it because t so funny that Hammell’s first word would be disappointed, we are rotten and going down, no fight, no desire to stay in this league.

  16. Yeah he signed players but the issue is he doesn't fuckin play them, he instead sticks to the same utterly dire team selection that has been shite all season.

  17. Wasn’t at the game today and never watched it online, but the result and performance surely isn’t a shock to anyone who watches us or knows anything about football. Let’s be clear we were terrible last week and just beat one of the worst teams on the championship . The football on show was rotten and the couple of new additions were just that tiny bit less rotten than the rest of our squad on the day. Nothing changed last week and of course the same league form was going to continue with that muppet in charge . He’s out his depth . His team talk they showed up there was laughable and more suited to an amateur league. Bottom of the league , rotten to the core with endless jobs for the boys appointments at every level which have been marshalled by burrows and the board . A bowling club board with a pub team manager - that is why we are bottom of the league . Change the manager and there’s a small glimmer we might finish 11th. Maintain the status quo and we are relegated. The only thing for sure is a large proportion of our support still won’t lay any blame at burrows or Hammells door and will continue with their welcome to our great little club, we are punching above our weight and it’s a rollercoaster patter. Hammells record is a disgrace and the stats back my statement up. Get him and his assistant out. A club playing legend maybe but an absolute managerial failure. just how can he still think we don’t need a midfielder who can tackle and stick with the same 3 again today

  18. Hammell selected him to start. Its not the lad's fault as he's doing the best he can, although his confidence is very low. Hammell had a couple of other options which he chose not to go with. Don't blame Shields.

  19. It's like talking to Grandpa Simpson with you, last post was a million pounds on VAR, Lamie being denied a penalty and now its the pitch being blamed for us being shite 🤦‍♂️

  20. The reality is we are going down or at best heading for the playoffs with barely a whimper and it’s heartbreaking to watch.

  21. It doesn't matter who the manager is, the tone here is that the players are useless, so at this late date in January, how will that help any manager, Hammell or not?. We have a structural management problem, and with Burrows going it will now clearly lie with the board and the society. The villains are those who signed all the dross you all hate, so the issue is more fundamental than the manager.

  22. Plenty managers looking for work it’s picking the right man we are not good at Kettlewell or Clarkson should be nowhere near it

  23. If Hammell goes it’ll be Kettlewell or Clarkson that gets it.

  24. I know conditions weren't great but based on last Saturday, McGinn will not do a job at left back. Either play O'Donnell there as he's looked more comfortable than McGinn did or sign a left back. If Hammell thinks McGinn at left back will do, he should get his jotters... If we are to do more business this month then the priorities should be • A left back • A defensive midfielder Any talk of another central defender is wishful thinking...

  25. Again maybe some truth in that but if you act like said primary school girl and blame it on a footballer then I'm sure your life will be ....... certainly different from mine and majority of people

  26. Read some amount of Shite in my time on here but recently takes the biscuit. folk are delusional if thinking changing manager with 2 days left of a window is a good idea. Gave the current manager a handful of weeks to bring players in and he’s now having to replace the ones he brought in due to loans ending and injury does anyone think a new manager will manage to make goss and slattery and spittal (the current boo boys) magically better? Does anyone think a new manger will suddenly have more options than miller and Cornelius to change the midfield? Does anyone think a new manager will be able to conjure a goal scorer out of van veen again? Or make lamie and sol a world beating centre back pairing. new manager same shite!! give hammell regardless the rest of this window and season to turn it round
