  1. To be fair, I seem to remember he was regarded as having a ton of potential when he joined us... for whatever reason, he just never showed any of it.
  2. Like all sponsors, they'd also be considering what's in it for them, and it's hard to imagine how a deal with us would do anything at all to increase their brand awareness or increase sales.
  3. Updates and photos on 'fishel Twitter and from Flow since last night. Pitch was being cleared until late last night, undersoil heating's been on since Thursday, not covered (because apparently that's not what you do for snow), clearing last of crusted snow this morning, volunteers helping to clear surrounding areas.
  4. Somebody wandering round the track selling macaroon bars and spearmint chewing gum.
  5. Dylan Mackin and David Ferguson have joined Airdrie on development loans. http://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/2016/01/06/young-duo-join-airdrie-on-loan/
  6. Pretty poor standard of "gossip", the club announced it themselves days ago!
  7. His arm is at full stretch above his head. Deliberate or not, that's a pretty unnatural position when you're running around on a football pitch.
  8. Not saying it appeared to be the case here, but there doesn't have to be contact for it to be a free kick. "Attempting to kick or trip an opponent" is a foul whether you hit the guy or not.
  9. The added time board is only a minimum. Ref can add as much as he sees fit over and above that.
  10. Trouble is, by protecting yourself with your hands, one could argue you're deliberately moving your hands into the path of the ball. So is that "on purpose" or not? The laws of the game only specify that "handling the ball deliberately" is an offence, they say no more than that. Of course, common sense dictates that protecting yourself from a blooter in the face is normally a reflex rather than a deliberate action... but most refs aren't particularly known for their common sense.
  11. If it were a truly random draw, which is presumably the ideal, that sequence would be exactly as likely to happen as any other. (Reminds me of Apple having to make the shuffle feature on their iPods less random, because people thought it wasn't random enough -- just because it sometimes played two songs from the same artist one after the other...)
  12. Fair enough then Fishel Twitter said 5477.
  13. We didn't today either: 5477 - 546 = 4931
  14. I'd have thought he'd be more likely to make an appearance if we're 3-0 up and cruising than if we're scrapping for a late equaliser.
  15. Yep, just a classic case of youthful inexperience. The fact that Celtic scored from it might not be a bad thing... might make him think twice about diving in too early next time.
  16. There's already a button for people who didn't go or didn't have an opinion -- it's the "Show Results" button. Beats me why anyone would press Null Vote instead if they didn't even go to the game... kind of worrying for the future governance of the country if folk can't even vote properly on a fitba' website

    League Cup - 2016

I've nothing against bonus points personally, plenty of (non-American) tournaments use them nowadays. Not sure I particularly like them being awarded for shoot-out wins, though -- in other tournaments they're normally used to reward attacking play, and at least some of the time, a team that wins on penalties has been hanging on for them and didn't really deserve to win at all, let alone an extra point for doing so. But I can see why awarding one for getting a certain number of shots on target in the 90mins or something wouldn't really be practical, even though that would be a better sort of thing to award the points for imho.
  18. From the highlights, when he blew the whistle, everybody was outside the box, or on the line at worst: It also didn't look like he was going to signal for a retake until he'd seen what happened with the rebound. Given that Josh Law, who was virtually in line with the ball when the kick was struck, then cleared it out the park, I don't see that he had much choice.
  19. To be fair, if that's not encroachment, it's hard to imagine what is-- especially as the defender who encroached then cleared the rebound.
  20. He briefly turned up at our school in Hamilton later in the 80's too. Seem to remember him minding our Chemistry class one day!
  21. Never entirely sure what sort of 'atmosphere' a flare is meant to create. Is it the fun of your boat sinking, the joy of being stuck on a mountain with a broken leg, or the elation of trying to throw off a heat-seeking missile that's about to blow you out the sky?
  22. Certainly some far more encouraging stats from the game today: Possession ABD 51% - MOT 49% Shots 11-11 On target 2-7 Corners 9-10
