The club can only pick from those who applied and want the job, so maybe the 4 names quoted are the only ones interested, probably enquiries have been made to others about the job but if they are not interested then the clubs hands are tied.

Aye it could be the Wright /Lasley dream team, why is it that Tommy wright who was criticised for years at St Johnstone for his approach to the game, took them from mid table mediocrity and left them there with no real progression, is suddenly being talked up as if he was Klopp, or the special one, and as for experience of the Scottish game, its somebody with no experience of some of the dross that passes for football in this country that we need, a fresh and new approach.
-
I presume Archer knew he was away and the deal was done so I suspect he made himself unavailable as per instructions from Middlesbrough not wanting to risk any Injury to the player before he got there, so I will give Las the benefit of tbe doubt on that one.
-
TBH that gives me the fear, we need a fresh input rather than a reboot of the previous regime, Wrights style at St J was brutal at times, yes he made them hard to beat and may be what we need to keep us up right now, but we need stability and a manager in who can bring new ideas etc to rebuild the squad, past this season.
-
would agree with that, of the 4 Alexander is the most experienced with probably a good contact network in the lower leagues in England which to be fair is the market we will be buying from

Motherwell: Scottish Premiership club to interview four candidates for manager's job - BBC Sport think Tommy Wright and graham Alexander were mentioned earlier, no idea who the 3rd candidate is
-
I can't understand why people are getting upset at a player getting a chance to probably at least double his salary, play in a better team than he is at the moment , regular European football, and securing his family's future, no wonder he wants to move on. So if the interest from Celtic is genuine is it any wonder he is not that keen on a new deal at FirPark.
-
No chance Chapman is scoring he will never be that close to the ball, he's scared of it.
-
Technically football is breaking the rules, it's now a group of 2 people max from 2 households for exercise / meeting outdoors, so I guess they have special dispensation.
-
Outside the box, she would be outside the dressing room most of the time, not really the best way to inspire the team.
-
Wee Nicola never mentioned anything about football in her statement so unless the shit really hits the fan, the season will go on, so no decision for the shitebags at the SPFL to make.,
-
You might get your wish, Scottish parliament recalled today and they reckon its tighter restrictions on the way, more in line with the full lockdown last March, can you imagine the response from the blue ugly sister,
-
To get 1 maybe 2 players from the Academy team breaking through into the 1st team is a great result. In recent years we have had Campbell, Turnbull, Hastie,,Scott, mcGuire, Cornelius, mcIver all step up and play for the 1st team, add to that mcAleer and McKinstry and we have done exceptionally well in developing our own talent. But you can't expect that level of success season after season, so its Inevitable there will be lean years. But Motherwell has a very good reputation for finding and developing players so I am sure this will continue going forward.
-
It's standard practice at Motherwell every time we need a new manager, the 1st thing that happens is the automatic email sent to Valakari, Nijholt, etc to see if they are interested in the job.
-
Until Carson is fit then Morrison should be playing , that's the only way we will know if he is premiership level, plus we have no other options as that clown Chapman should never play again after that embarassing horror show yesterday.
-
What happened to the null vote "the whole team is brutal" option?
-
Is anybody surprised Lasley was part of the SR decision making so did anybody really believe there would be a radical change of attitude / tactics today. We may still win the game but I don't think Lasley should be considered for the job long term, we need a fresh approach and somebody new to get rid of the shite in the team, with a few new faces in this transfer window.
-
Ross County winning, so we are bottom of the league on our own now
-
Totally agree Dave, Lasley was part of the decisions taken by SR re tactics, which player is best in which position etc, so are we to think that in 4 games he is going to radically change tactics and our approach to games, I am with you a new approach is required not a re-boot of the old. That said he has probably earned his chance so fair play to him, who knows it might work out.
-
Tommy Wright took St J from mid table mind numbingly boring bang average mediocrity and left them in the same place ffs getting him in would be a big step backwards .
-
Valverde would be good, then we would see how good a manager he is by turning the dross we currently have into a decent team, its easy to manage the likes of Messi, but could he do anything with Lamie?
-
I am assuming Lasley will be taking charge till we appoint a new manager, I wonder how many of the usual out of work suspects are still available.
-
I know we are in lockdown, but that's no normal behaviour
-
He did, was on loan with us in 2010, came on as a sub in the 6-6 game as I recall, was never very good.
-
For me if Carroll is fit enough for the bench he should be starting, that will get him game time
