WTF, even by your standards that is utter bollocks, the average age of the team may be low but most if not all of those guys have played hundreds of games at whatever level they were at before they came to Fir park. If by inexperienced you mean they are not diving cheating b**st**ds like some of the Accies team i.e. Imrie and try to play football then yes we are inexperienced, but i know what style of Football i would want to watch.

Scottish Premiership Game 2: St Johnstone (A) Saturday 12/08/17
Spiderpig replied to Ocelot Groomin''s topic in Club Chat
Just watched the highlights on you tube, and all i can say is that i have never seen so many blatant fuck ups and ridiculous decisions by a referee in a single match, Thompson has taken the art of being an arsehole of a man to new levels. 1st goal, the free kick that led up to it was a shocking decision, no contact from the Motherwell player at all if anything it should have been a free kick for Motherwell for a handball. Carson's red card - freeze the video at 4.06 in, half the ball and Carson's hands are on the line, so not outside, the linesman never saw it, Thompson had at least 2 players blocking his view, so i doubt very much that he saw it from where he was, so again a ridiculous decision. No advantage for Moult, he is away and clear after beating 2 men, but that fud of a ref plays no advantage and brings the play back to award a free kick, instead of letting the play run and booking the player later if required. He has previous for that pish remember he never gave the 3rd goal in the Rangers playoff at Fir park, after Erwin was brought down and Sutton scored, he awards the pen instead of just letting the play run especially since we scored. Dunne's red card, minimal contact if any and the STJ player takes at least another 2 strides then falls down, he should have been booked for diving never mind winning a pen, and as for a straight red for Dunne, a feckin disgrace. Irrespective of how we played today Thompson's incompetence ruined the game, we might not have got an equaliser but at least with a full team on the park, even with 10 men as McHugh deserved to get sent off we would have had a chance. The sad thing for me is that the refereeing supervisor was watching that pish performance from the ref and will do feck all about it, and Thompson will no doubt be off on a UEFA gig next week. I fully expect Carson's and Dunnes red cards to be cancelled but the damage has been done and we got nothing from the game, the sooner the SFA brings in video replays / refs or whatever they call them the better but they are a bunch of useless pricks at the best of times so i wont be holding my breath. -

It's justified because Thompson is a useless arsehole of a referee, the standard in Scotland is poor but he takes the incompetence to new levels. -

Some chat on BBC already that Carson's red might have been a mistake, so would not be surprised if the other 2 were dubious as well. A very bad day at the office but 2 games in its not that important, onwards and upwards for RC next week. -

The laws of the game only specify "deliberate" in relation to handball for sending off offences, Dunne denied the Ross county player a clear goal scoring opportunity so it was a red card every day of the week. Makes no odds if he was trying to get the ball he brought the man down so it was a sending off. Details from FA site below SENDING-OFF OFFENCES A player, substitute or substituted player who commits any of the following offences is sent off: denying the opposing team a goal or an obvious goal-scoring opportunity by deliberately handling the ball (except a goalkeeper within their penalty area) denying a goal or an obvious goal-scoring opportunity to an opponent whose overall movement is towards the offender's goal by an offence punishable by a free kick (unless as outlined below) serious foul play spitting at an opponent or any other person violent conduct using offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or gestures receiving a second caution in the same match

We would all be delighted if the U20's were full of great prospects and Talent ready to step up to the 1st team, but the reality is that it's not we will be doing well if we get 2 or 3 who make the step up and follow the likes of Cadden into the team and i think even that figure is ambitious. The U20's have done well to get professional contracts at a premiership club and the ones who don't make the 1st team will probably go on to make a good living from football and play at a decent level, i.e Craig moore. I am sure SR and every other manager would love to be in the position that Alex Ferguson was in when he had his golden generation of youngsters i.e. Giggs, Butt, Scholes, Beckham and the Neville brothers ready to step up into the 1st team but he has to work with what we have. The young players will get their chance if SR thinks they are good enough and ready to step up, but given the brief appearances we have seen from some of them up till now, i don't think we have any that are ready

Yes it is allegedly, the sportscene presenter did apologise after the highlights to viewers who may have heard some offensive language, but the League and SFA will do feck all as usual. And they will get their usual free ride in the press, so no change there either.

So what model would you have then, your criteria seem to be nobody plays for Motherwell unless they were born locally, and been at the club man and boy, irrespective of whether they have any talent or potential. What we have now is football in the 21st century, not something from a Roy of the rovers comic, we are Motherwell not Melchester.

Kipre for me,badly exposed at times by Tait forgetting he was a right back but coped very well, Think he will be a good signing for us

Eric Liddell never ran in the Olympics in Paris in 1920 something as the race was moved to a Sunday due to his religious beliefs, watch the film chariots of fire that will fill you in. So is Bigi a happy clapper then

Injured apparently, according to the gossip at the game, no details how bad it is though .

He has obviously found his level, best of luck to him.

Name and shame he or she should get their season book taken off them.

Skippy not in the united squad today for their opener in Inverness,.
-
A new season and I hope it's a new attitude towards Rangers and we realise that behind all the hype they are average at best. Hope we get right into them from the 1st whistle they are there for the taking I will be surprised if Pedro is in charge past Christmas, so going for a win for us to set the tone for the season.

BBC gossip page reporting this morning that Brighton are allegedly interested in Chris Cadden http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40773182

Bobby Allan, a true gentleman and a Motherwell diehard, 1st met him through the supporters association, he was very knowledgeable football wise and used to organise the association quiz nights, he was also a commentator helping out the blind and partially sighted supporters for years, although some of the commentary was a bit more down to earth than the BBC.

That was Mark McManus

Skippy is a Motherwell legend in my opinion those 2 goals he scored to get it right up Celtic and spoil their title party are up there with my best moments watching Motherwell.

A 5-1 win last week and you were moaning and finding fault, 4-0 this week and right on cue another post focusing on what you perceive to be negative, FFS give it a rest. We were excellent today playing against nothing but we scored 4 and prob should have had another 2 or 3, so why not try some positive thinking and enjoy it.

Why all this debate about an ex player who promised a lot but in the end proved to be lacking in footballing skill, ability and motivation contributing feck all to the club in all the time he was there,he won't be missed, let's hope the money saved on his wage is better spent.
-
The history books will only detail the final scoreline not how well the teams played. So a 5-1 win means we pumped them and by definition were miles better.
