  1. FFS if you are that worried about the amount and the "undisclosed fee" keeps you up at night, wait till the club accounts for the year are available, all the gory details will in there,
  2. Just heard SR will be on stv news at 6 to give an update on Turnbull's "proposed" move to Celtic was the phrase used
  3. For me it was Louis Moult, was not impressed when we signed him from the lower reaches of English football, though he would not make the step up etc. So got that very wrong
  4. Does it matter how the goals go in, Ally McCoist made a career of poaching goals and scoring from a yard out. If Shankland was able to bang in 15 or 20 goals a season nobody would care how they went in. That said it's a big step up in class from championship to the premiership so not sure if he would be up to it, but may be worth a punt.
  5. Nice to see some positive comments about how the club is operating and from a true Scottish football legend as well.
  6. At the end of the day this whole saga has been a great deal for the club, there was never going to be a queue of EPL or EC clubs at Burrows office door wanting to sign Turnbull, a 19 year old who has played just over 30 1st team games. Celtic were the only show in town and we managed to secure a £3.25 million fee from them which with add-ons and sell on percentages could potentially double that figure, so I can't understand why some people think that this is a bad move.
  7. Why would that be bad, Lafferty would be a great signing for us, big strong striker, who puts himself about, Lots of experience, and scores a decent amount of goals, so what's not to like.
  8. Aye only £1 or £2k a week, must be a struggle for them, a £100k a year wage, buys a lot of handbags.
  9. I liked the look of Gorrin last season, thought he was excellent any time I saw him, and Cadden has been a great servant to the club, both will be missed imho.
  10. Let's be honest with all the shite and baggage that the ugly sisters have between them and their cringeworthy manipulation of a compliant Scottish media is it any surprise that young players wanting to develop their careers turn them down, McGinn last year and now Turnbull. But reading the mass seethe on the Celtic forums this deal has generated is priceless, it may be a treble / treble, buts that a double GIRUY now from McGinn and Turnbull, they are on a roll.
  11. A £3.25m bid plus significant add-ons accepted according to BBC, so prob about £500k more than Celtic were offering https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48685494
  12. Is it just me that thinks that grown adults trawling Twitter to check who someone is following is a bit bizarre , Turnbull is to all intents a Celtic player now , so good luck to him in his career, let's move on, and see which one of the new colt players will be the next Turnbull.
  13. And a massive GIRUY to Celtic so everyone is a winner
  14. It does not matter if Turnbull was offered 2k or 20k a week truth is he obviously did not fancy signing for Celtic as I suspect he could not get a guarantee from them that he would play every week, and maybe he also did not like the set up on offer at Parkhead More wages are a given wherever he goes so I suspect he wants to play every week and continue his development so fair play to him. All this magnificent offer and more wages than van dijk shite leaked by Celtic is to try to deflect the story away from them to hide the fact a player told them to jog on and never signed,
  15. Over the last couple of seasons the club's policy of bringing in " lower quality players" as some posters on here refer to them has paid off and put the club on the road to a secure financial footing, The money made by selling on Moult, Johnson, Kipre, Heneghan, Bowman etc has just about wiped out the club debt, and now theTurnbull deal will see the club finally rid of the problems inherited from the John Boyle era. So now for the 1st time instead of any spare cash the club has going to service it's debts SR might actually have a decent budget to bring in some better players long term .
  16. Our support or the Celtic fans, I would have Johnston, he is a decent player, looks a good prospect
  17. FFS get a grip, so based on a 25 year old transfer figure you think we have been shafted, and that £3 million plus add-ons, plus a sell on fee for a 19 year old who has only played 30 odd 1st team games and cost us feck all is a bad deal....ok then
  18. Fair comments, but regarding his development if he finally signs, he will be playing in Europe against some top teams if Celtic make the CL group s, and as a Celtic player he will definitely make the Scotland squad, so it would be beneficial to him in that respect.
  19. I hope we don't sell him till 5 mins before the transfer deadline closes, there are enough people on this forum on the verge of a meltdown over Turnbull.
  20. My Celtic supporting colleagues in work are confirming it's a done deal, they all seem to be delighted with the deal.
  21. All this angst and sudden outpouring of animosity towards the board and club because we sold a player we all knew would never start the new season in a well shirt. Does anyone really think if we had waited till transfer deadline day we would suddenly get a £5 million bid for Turnbull from a top English team, or would it be the same as we have now, let's be honest there was never going to be a bidding war. So what difference does it make selling him now or 6 weeks from now, when there might not have been a deal on the table. If the figures are to be believed it's a club record transfer fee, with good add-ons, that could see the club debt free and on a stable financial footing for years to come, and there are still people moaning about it.
  22. Pish, the club always needs money to clear debts, improve the stadium, develop more Turnbull's etc etc so all they have done is maximise the return on a very sellable asset.
  23. Have a look at yourself, do you think for a minute that if there had been better or similar offers from English clubs they would have said no we want to sell him to Celtic FFS I think not. Lots of chat about interest from England but obviously no firm offers, so he's off to Celtic, as they obviously met our asking price, £3m plus add-ons which if he fulfills his potential could double that figure, so potential life changing cash for the club.
  24. He will be loaned out every season till his contract ends, he will be lucky if he ever gets a game for the 1st team at Ibrox, but I daresay he was warned about that before he signed.
