I've really rated Aldred, although I didn't realise how slow he could be until yesterday. This is seldom actually a problem, though, as he has some knack for being in the right place to begin with.

The downside to these epic journeys back for a final is the long, sad traipse home after the wrong result. Too true. For me, among plenty of other heroes, Ally Maxwell was the real standout of the '91 final. His subsequent shabby treatment really upset me at the time, and it's been great to see him back in the fold. We really can't NOT win this now! COYW.

You're right enough, Saint Johnstone beat us too and finish 7th with 44 points. (I stopped thinking after they took the hypothetical points from Ross County.) It's still never going to happen.

I don't think I'll risk money betting on either scenario. Even though we'll almost certainly win the cup!
