  1. Given the lack of goals in other games it’s great to see us being clinical . Will help maintain belief in what we’re doing . 3 points always welcome .
  2. I don’t believe Efford or Shields are any where mear good enough . I agree re them not being part of the longer term plan - I’d rather we played mckinstry and tierney from the start
  3. Be great to avoid a scudding. The squad need to keep believing in what they're doing and I'll be happy if we simply make a game of it. Of course be great to take something from the game.St Mirren were in the right place at the right time, Celtic won't lose many in the full season. It would be rare to lose consecutively. Anything that keeps the positive play and maintains high confidence will do me.
  4. Absolutely - the crowd will be a massive influence . How players and then xxx thousand people react in moment will be massive influence .
  5. the amount of shots we have on goal is much higher than I can remember, ping shots in and around the goal will have something to do with it.
  6. There could be a few things at play here. 1) the handball rule is a complete nonsense. Lots of pens are given now when the ball is blasted of peoples arms. Players now need to hide arms behind them. 2) we have a lot more shots at goal than we've had for as long as I can remember, takes me back to Mcghee v1 style of play. A nod to how Hammel has set us up. 3) a bit a purple streak for now, likely to settle down over the season.
  7. For the first time in a few years it feels like we have a plan and are moving forward . results will always be important but so is entertainment and for the first time in a long time that’s evident . the current direction of travel is warmly welcomed .
  8. Well done SH. He's done well during this transfer window. Late to the party, most teams settled, had to rely on loans. Brought in 4 in the positions we need , all have potential to show that bit of quality that we needed and has offloaded Ojala. A lot of the squad were decent but in many ways quite ordinary players, some of these signings can give us a bit of spark. Deserves pretty high marks IMO.
  9. Agreed. Having SOD really helps solve a few potential issues. McGinn can easily slot in at centre half of holding mid. SOD can play either LB/RB or further up the park. It all gives us options for any injury, loss of form, suspension. Overall I'm happy with our current position, particularly if we're only playing 1 out and out striker. In essence Shields/Efford are cover for KVV.
  10. It’s been very quiet for all SPL clubs today . Had expected a few more loan signings , but glad we secured the 3 that we have .
  11. Very very good result - we’ll done lads feels like a long time since a well player got a hat trick
  12. He's certainly the top 1 from last 2-3 seasons. Agree we've gone through some great spells with excellent keepers @MelvinBragg Who's in your top 3 from last 15 years ? Ruddy.......Randolph.......
  13. we need more signings to stop us losing the plot. The day Kelly becomes our weak link I'd be bloody delighted with what the rest of the squad looks like. Kelly was player of the year and man of the match in just about every game he played. A brilliant shot stopper and personal view his distribution is one of the best in the team. Wish we had more players who can ping it +30 yards and find the right man. He won't come for crosses or come off his line. Nor did Goram + plenty of others.
  14. suspect something will happen but would be stunned if we solved all gaps in this window
  15. Good assessment. We could be 2 CB's short (ideally have 3 decent CB's in total) which doesn't reflect well on the multiple CB's we have on our squad. Including some of the youngsters that are now in their 20s. Appreciate the challenge of being late to the window. We've beefed up the wide areas and LB which was important. For CM we miss Campbell and I worry about playing 3 man midfield that includes Goss/Slatttery , neither work hard enough to get away with a 3 man midfield. McGinn could be the short term answer. Overall hoping that we move as many players as we bring in. Tomorrow could be a very busy day.
  16. Hope it works out. If SH is thinking we need width up each side rather than playing Efford/Shields the shape of the team at least makes sense. Don't really remember much about the last time with us, which I can empathise with others equates to feeing meh but openminded and hope this works out. Having a couple of pacey wingers on each flank to serve up the goods sounds good, as long as they are of the right quality.
  17. Other than being a local lad who try's his best I'm less than sold on Maguire. After 4-5 seasons he's convinced me he'll be a good player in a lower league team. I'm surprised we've kept with him as long as we have. McKinstry I'm hoping will light us up , the exact type of player we should be trying to bring in. Someone who ultimately will play at a higher level but needs experience. Icing on the cake that he came via our youth system. A couple more quality loan signings will be warmly welcomed. I do think we need much better centre halves than we have and completely agree that several players need to be moved on. Think we have 9-10 first team defenders on our books, not that many worth keeping.
  18. Grimmie v's Slattery is for me an odd comparison. If you put them both together you'd have one hell of a player. Grimmie worked his socks off and gave it all , he was limited, poor first touch and struggled to find a team mate. Slattery has decent touch and able to play the easy pass. For me he can be a bit lazy and not track back, pick up his man. Overall very different players - both with limits, hence not being with a bigger club. Slattery like Goss both need others around them and get caught out with the traditional 4-3-3. Once we've got a few more players in be interesting to see what shape/formations we can leverage to get the most out of them.
  19. completely agree - and even with our best team we're not guaranteed to win. Our best team at some stage should include McKinstry (for shields) & Penney for (S'OD)
  20. at least it sounds like we're trying to bring in 2 wide players - McKinstry up one side and Arrons the other with KVV in the middle. I honestly don't remember jack shit about his last time with us. Heres hoping he's recovered from injuries and can maintain some team time
  21. Overall we’re progressing as a squad , specifically vs the pre season . we knew then what we know now , we need to bolder the squad . every game this season we could have both won and lost , very fine lines and little between the teams we’ve played . we don’t have enough quality to be brilliant every game and don’t yet have enough quality on the bench - we need to invest in out attacking options
  22. Sounds like a very solid signing and someone who the Ipswich fans speak highly of re McGinn / SOD we have options play only 1 of them play McGinn centre half push sod further up
  23. Longer this goes on the more likely we'll grab loan signings. Ideally get a few season long loans from better teams. In reality the Jan window won't solve much either, given so many players on contract. Hope we can get a couple/few gems in asap
  24. I've been sitting (fully stripped) next to my phone for months now
  25. Some greats points there weeyin, can't see anyone voting for less income. For now hoping more solid performances continue to bring crowds back to Fir Park. Tend to be 4.5k- 5.5k per average depending on how well we're doing. Almost 20 years since (04/05 we had almost 7k per game)
