  1. Craigen made another solid point . we have no width and no number 10 to link play - this has been an issue and no sign of addressing it
  2. Shambles . 1) we offer no more of a goal threat than we did last season 2) same joke of a defence 3) midfielders are no better than what we had 4) shocking prep of pre season
  3. Worth getting sod on and push him up the flanks
  4. He sure has - calls out the obvious we’ve not worked their keeper we lack intensity
  5. Why spittal is left mid and Morris is right mid is nonsense - that said this team are so far off being match ready
  6. This is a carbon copy of last weeks nonsense
  7. Much prefer listening to craigen than Lewis on Motherwell tv Would much rather have him in the club through
  8. We need to get hold of the ball and play simple passes
  9. This is certainly the change many of us would have made. Hopefully he tucks behind KVV rather than played as a winger.
  10. Top 4. Rangers, Celtic, Hearts & Aberdeen Top 6. Utd & Hibs likely to be there. Potential for 1 or 2 clubs to get ahead of Utd/Hibs but on paper they should be ahead. 6-12 the rest are fighting it out . Expect us - better than 9th.
  11. You make a great point. Just listened (tried to listen) to the pre match interview and the gaffer mentions more than once there's no need to change. Just need to be a bit sharper and ruthless. There's no question in his mind that our approach to games is right, it served us well last season hence being in Europe. And Sigh
  12. completely agree which speaks volumes for Efford/Shields - they should be moved on.
  13. that's some list Feels like a long time since played some decent footy. Both McCall and McGhee v1 had some great spells of not just picking up points but entertaining the fans. Think this is why so many are pissed with current regime - even when we were winning Aug-Dec 21 it was bloody awful to watch. Tony Watts class was the difference. The cyclical debate will continue until we're no longer top 6. Future viewing will be painful to watch win/lose/draw but doubt we'll sack as manager for anything other than a poor eague position.
  14. similar goals for as KVV over his career. You should be out there as a scout finding these sorts of available players
  15. Good shout Dennyc. If we were playing to strengths I reckon this is the type of formation that would work. 3 centre halves enable us to have more in midfield where we' get out muscled most games. It also removes the need to force a front 3 when we don't have a right winger and play someone like Tierney who's likely to cause problems. One big weakness is to repeatedly play the same formation, force players into positions that don't work for them and when it doesn't work bring out the tombola and see who else can be squeezed into a position that doesn't work for them
  16. wouldn't touch Griffiths with someone else's bargepole. Too much baggage, Dundee and Falkirk both gave him 2nd and 3rd chances and he blew it. I thought Allen was a midfielder - I'd rather we invest in someone who can score goals - a Moult type player.
  17. Suspect he's our best midfielder. He took a lot of slack on Thursday night but it's questionable who actually remained in midfield in the second half. Morris, Spittal were both dead on their feet and Maguire dropped almost into a centre half portion. That said Slattery also died on his arse, just shows that none of the team were ready for 90 mins. Additionally none of them suit the 3 man midfield. I'd happily see a 4-5-1 next week.
  18. At 24 I don't believe he has it in him to develop beyond what he is. Appreciate this won't be popular but I don't think he's good enough for the 1st team. A strong, hardworking midfielder who can stop teams playing, that's about it. Had he come up from Englands D2 rather than through our youth system I don't think he'd be anywhere close to being as popular as he is.
  19. completely agree about ditching the 4-3-3 as as simply we don't have 2 wingers. I'd accept KVV up front without either Shields or Efford as long as we had Tierney playing in the hole between Midfield/Attack. Unconvinced that Morris/Maguire/Spittal should stroll straight into the Midfield. Cornealius added a lot of value to our midfield and I'd play him ahead of most we have. I'd also have a place for S'OD - appreciate he splits the fans but he has much needed experience and very decent going forward.
  20. joy to watch some of these older games. watched game with defence of McKinnon, McCart, Martin, Krivokapic. Midfield of Dolan, O'Donnell, Lambert. Streets ahead of the standard we now attract.
  21. Agree with your approach here Could play S’OD in right mid in front of McGinn not sure what’s going on with S’OD - feels like he’s been shoved out the door
  22. Even if we go out I'd be stunned if we binned GA. Season 1 - took us to safety Season 2 - took us to Europe. We'd lose credibility as a club for sacking a mgr for losing a cup game , irrespective of the standard. Our style of play has been horrendous since day 1, it was horrendous for the first half of last season and we extended GA's contract - because the points were on the board. It would take a sustained period of no results and a precarious league position before the club would axe a manager and rightly so. I'm an anti fan of our style of play and sick to my back teeth of watching dreadful , dreadful matches but I can't envisage any change until we face potential relegation. In reality I think we'll be somewhere between 9th and 6th in the league and its likely to be tolerated.
  23. I think we'll find it exceptionally difficult to break this team down. They can sit deep and afford to let us come on to them, we need the guile and skill to take on players, get past them and get balls into the box. Tierney is a good option to play in the hole but we'll need to change formation and erm can't see GA doing that. Personally I would have players like Goss, Morris, Tierney, Slattery, S'OD all playing and leave the likes of Efford & Shields on the bench Brains over braun are required,
  24. one we got away with. The benefit of no VAR and limited away fans to make much noise.
  25. got some sympathy for Bevis. He's a big strong chap who gives his all. What he lacks isn't learnable at this stage of his career, it's often poor positional sense or awareness of who's around him, together with being just that little bit clumsy. Hence cheap goals, sending offs, penalties will be the downside of his game. The mgr can see it and plays him pretty much every game. Thats on the mgr, rather than the player. No question Bevis was at fault at the goal but not the reason why the whole team didn't function for 70 mins of the game.
