  1. Casey was excellent. Agree that we need to strengthen. Be interesting to see if we sign a wide player or go with wingbacks which we did much of last season. Im hoping that we're more than a 1 trick pony with formation.
  2. Stevie Cowan makes a surprise return from retirement to lead the line for "Well.
  3. Fletcher is a quality player , who’s deservedly earned big money and played for much better clubs than us. getting him when he’s past his best is the the only chance of landing someone of his stature . having experienced pros who know how to play at a higher level - yes please . risks about number of games , all players have risks .
  4. There's a few friends who saw him at after dinner events who all spoke very highly of his storytelling. He also spoke very highly of Motherwell. I thought he and Knox were fabulous for us. a 47% win record over 45 games must be up there with the best 'Well managers. Thoughts are with his friends and family.
  5. Agree with a lot of that Weeyin. Very early doors and still plenty of time to get quality in. Personally I don't rate either of the players we've signed and would have preferred to move on and find new players. Here's hoping we can unearth a few gems.
  6. I'm not challenging , just wasn't aware that he's meant to be a winger. Honestly thought like Shields he'd been played out of position due to formation. If a winger I don't see a way forward. Although hard to make comparisons gut feel is he's marginally better that Obika and Mandron. I was thinking we'd be playing with 1 target with a smaller more mobile striker playing off them. Mandron, Obika sort of fit the bill for that role. But if a winger then can't see him sticking around.
  7. I agree , Efford statistically has scored more goals in his career but wouldn’t pin any hopes on any of the strikers. more likely to get goals from spittal and tierney
  8. Fair to assume KVV hit his purple patch last season but he had score close to 20 goals per person with other clubs. More than some of our strikers have combined over their careers. Efford had scored goals with the Greek club, other than that the data isn't that great for our other strikers. Would personally like to see Efford get a chance at playing through the middle . If we get balls into the box he might grab a few goals.
  9. New home stip looks the business - a modern version of our classic home strip. Nice to see a chain of posts that we're agreeing. Away strip . White one may be too similar to last year but I'd be delighted to see either of these.
  10. Class acts - I miss the days where we landed such quality. Cooper never needed to tackle - the ball was glued to his foot. Bobby Russell was such a quality footballer.
  11. I suspect I need to lower my expectations. Neither Obika or Paton fill me with enthusiasm. If we're to improve as a team we need to improve our starting 11. There's plenty of stick being flung around at brining back ex-players who were once good. Bringing back players from last year who were ok squad players feels pretty meh. Not trying to offend or write anyone off here. Hope they both prove to be decent.
  12. We certainly got the most from him. great technical ability and loved seeing him bang in the gaols .
  13. that's interesting. with a 50% strike rate of goals to game over last 2 seasons the boy clearly knows where the goals are. more so than many others we have signed. appreciate there's a levelling in terms of leagues etc but this fills me some optimism.
  14. Harrogate are my local team and certainly progressed in recent years. What saddens me is the standard of SPL and who we're competing with is on par with the English 4th tier. Always a kick in the nuts that our relative stature has fallen in the last 3-4 decades.
  15. SK made it reasonably clear that he'd have this guy back and to be fair SK deserves a bit of leeway given his results as a manager. Putting personal views to aside the stats outline 32 years old, scored 66 goals from his 333 appearances over his 15 years as a pro. Suggests he only ever plays half a season in terms of games. will score 1 in every 5-6 games.
  16. That's cool. Can live with that. Hadn't thought too much about Carson & Gillespie. From our current squad there's a few people that we'd love to keep. At least 2 of them are leaving, wouldn't want Kelly to fall into that category and be moved on for a few hundred k
  17. We’re all allowed opinions . carson and Gillespie we’re both very good . Personally I think Kelly has been better
  18. For first half of the season we had a very poor defence in front of Kelly gifting goals every week . as soon as butcher and Casey arrived we tightened up and Kelly got back to normal form . best keeper we’ve had since likes of Randolph
  19. Yes , absolutely he’s been excellent .
  20. To be fair a few of them will be away on hols and considering options i find it more concerning that we offered so many contracts in the first instance . As mentioned some very ordinary players who just aren’t good enough . goss is one of the few that’s about the right level
  21. Would like to think we can do better than Paton, a lot better. Goss played majority of games last year, think he'll sign back on. We could do with having a ball winner in midfield. Butcher was brought in for this albeit proven to be excellent in defence. Need someone else like that.
  22. Valid point. Looking at current first team squad we already have c18 players. I'm hoping we bring in quality rather than quality. Ideally several of existing squad also get moved on to better things.
  23. I really hope we don't resign any of the strikers who were with us since Feb. When I look at the current squad it's more likely that goals will come from midfield (Spittal & Tierney) than our forwards and Tierney gets very little game time. Sell KVV with a clause that all other strikers also need to be taken as well.
  24. He's a very capable player and like you say one of the first picks on the team sheet under Hammell. Just don't believe our set up works for him/us. Wish the lad all the best, born and bread and came back to home to make it work. More than capable of walking into another SPL team and being a regular.
