  1. Yes , absolutely he’s been excellent .
  2. To be fair a few of them will be away on hols and considering options i find it more concerning that we offered so many contracts in the first instance . As mentioned some very ordinary players who just aren’t good enough . goss is one of the few that’s about the right level
  3. Would like to think we can do better than Paton, a lot better. Goss played majority of games last year, think he'll sign back on. We could do with having a ball winner in midfield. Butcher was brought in for this albeit proven to be excellent in defence. Need someone else like that.
  4. Valid point. Looking at current first team squad we already have c18 players. I'm hoping we bring in quality rather than quality. Ideally several of existing squad also get moved on to better things.
  5. I really hope we don't resign any of the strikers who were with us since Feb. When I look at the current squad it's more likely that goals will come from midfield (Spittal & Tierney) than our forwards and Tierney gets very little game time. Sell KVV with a clause that all other strikers also need to be taken as well.
  6. He's a very capable player and like you say one of the first picks on the team sheet under Hammell. Just don't believe our set up works for him/us. Wish the lad all the best, born and bread and came back to home to make it work. More than capable of walking into another SPL team and being a regular.
  7. Bob Malcolm - that got me thinking of this list of chaps I'd forgotten ever played for us.
  8. KVVs and Turnbulls both very good contract extensions by the club - either way we benefit.
  9. and he signed his brother Jon- who was defo not the standard of John Spencer - Frank Spencer maybe
  10. Good for all parties. He wasn't able to make it as a first team regular and no longer a kid. He needs to be playing on a weekly basis. Can see him the championship for a year or so to get the regular games he needs. Either that or another ex-player heading to Paisley.
  11. Moult and Aarons was in large part due to the amount of players available late on in the transfer window. The poor recruitment of GA during pre season didn't leave much on the table for Hammell to deal with. FWIW although I'm supportive of brining players back, it needs to be those who were decent first time around. Im all for Phil, McDonald, McFadden coming back. Aarons, Lawless, Toastie etc not so much.
  12. I'm with you @weeyin. I don't know the stats but many clubs have previous players return. It's reasonable for players to have an affiliation with a club and return for a 2nd period of their career. For as long as I can remember we have a reputation of being a friendly club that looks after and cares about players. Personal view this is something to celebrate , I struggle to see why some are keen to villanise the approach, particularly when many of those returning have been of excellent quality.
  13. The purist in my agrees - top club gets promoted and 2nd top gets the play off . that said the championship had nearly all teams playing for something til the last game . As much as there’s a lack of fairness it at least keeps everything interesting for as long as possible .
  14. Very true - Owen Coyle is a good example of a lightweight who was good enough .
  15. I like Cornelius , has a good attitude, local lad and works his socks off. Adds a bit of energy. Primary concern is he's now 22, has been around the first team for 5 years and hasn't held down a regular first team place. Although a different type of player it's similar to Maguire. Good local lad who perhaps won't quite make it in the SPL.
  16. cracking goal , he certainly has the skill. If he's able to sharpen up and better time challenges he'll be a great asset.
  17. agree with that. It's clear that he has many good qualities and a good person to have around. Sadly his positional sense and lack of timing aren't amongst these qualities, which costs him and the team points. He's probably do well in the championship, he could be on of RC's first signings
  18. I don’t mind SOD, think he’s ok in the new format but over 3 years he’s not been worthy of a first team start . Like many I don’t know when or how he got an extension . we have a ridiculous squad size. I’d much prefer we only re-sign regular starters. fringe players unless young and just coming through should leave .
  19. There’s not much wrong with our current starting 11 . Retain most of them them , offload the others who are bloating our wage bill would be a good foundation .
  20. Now is a a good time to be as ruthless as we can . money for kvv will pay off some of our recent losses offload all the players who are out of contract , none of the strikers are good enough . say thanks and goodbye to Cornelius and Glenys out of contract . put out the Morris’s , shields etc out on loan to championship clubs or anyone who’ll have them .
  21. Agree that McGhee was excellent first time around . Had us playing some terrific football . Even mcgarry looked like a top player GAs style was horrendous , somehow we managed to win games and went on a long streak playing the worst footy ever and got to 4th . the club extended his contract knowing how poor the style of footy was - the blame lies with the club rather than GA . He was always quite up front about his approach .
  22. Maybes aye - he’s the one that stood out for all the wrong reasons .
  23. Not that there was much doubt . Defensively we’re not the same without Butcher and Casey . without them we’ve slipped back into being a much easier team to score against
  24. Good luck to GA. No need to wish him or previous managers anything other than best wishes . He got us out of trouble . Did his best and ultimately left the club when things didn’t work out . He has only ever spoken positively about the club . appreciate its frustrating when things don’t go well but I’ve no issue with any of our recent gaffers . Happy to wish him well for future endeavours .
  25. In all honesty last few games have been poor on the eye but the points keep rolling in . keeps the final game interesting
