I would argue that we (decent members of society) should be campaigning to bring down the corrupt government at Westminster before we start to revert to an early 20th century lifestyle to mitigate impacts of cost/shortage. Scotland is a net exporter of energy, yet we are shafted. The solution doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out.

Don’t like bringing politics into this forum but Scotland can produce/export  as much energy as you like but until those producers are publicly owned the price we pay will be linked to the profit the company can make. Corrupt government at Westminster, Holyrood or wherever.

Everybody knew that, you don't suddenly go from beating AZ Alkmaar in Europe without conceding a goal to finishing your next 4 games with a  -23 goal difference, Saturday will be a very tough game.

September is going to be a tough month but October will be worse. Need to try and get as many points as possible in the next 3 games.

  3. Agree that we’re not paying that but that’s my argument, if we did then the quality would be better which should(?) mean better results, better league finish and cup runs, which in turn would increase revenue. Add to that - hopefully- at least one of those players should be a sellable asset and I believe that it would become self paying.
I understand that others would have their noses put out of place but by off loading others a slight increase in  their wages could be achievable, they would also benefit from win, cup run and finishing bonuses. They would also have possibly been playing European football for longer.

It's just a shame we blew easy money on offer in our own qualifiers….

I hate to go on about it but the club/board/manager screwed it up by not investing the initial €300K + the potential €400K for getting by Sligo on three better quality  players on £4K a week over the summer. We also had a better than budgeted finish last year which meant extra cash so it doesn’t make sense to me at all.
This would have gave us a shot at €1M if we got past Vikings and potentially a decent season & cup run.
Although, in general I’m a supporter of the board, on this occasion I’ve got to say I’m deeply disappointed.

Saw him in The Rex last night ordering a smoked sausage supper and just a week before the transfer window slams shut.

If the guy eats junk food like that it shows lack of commitment to his fitness-  he should be nowhere near fir park, so for that reason it’s a no from me.
pity, no a bad player as well

  6. I’m somewhere between ElGrew and GazzyB, I think that we have a decent enough team to avoid relegation but we still have a weak defence that will need strengthened and better cover from midfield if we are to achieve anything above 7th or 8th place.
If we get those areas sorted and have a bit of luck then I think we could push for a European spot and even have a good cup run.
Looking  forward to the season but expect a lot of ups and downs along the way so buckle up folks and ffs, when we get a bad result sit down for a couple of hours, let your anger clear before posting a rant. ;)

  7. Not got the slightest interest in seeing TW in a Motherwell top again.
Never was his greatest fan to start with, always said he had a great knack of either flicking the ball just past the post or directly at the keeper and hit a purple patch with us but I do agree that he gave his all, tracked back, was good at winning a foul and taking the pressure off.

It was a fine result great entertainment, the arrogance of Aberdeen fans is off the scale. You'd think with the shite they've endured over 25 years that would have been knocked out of them a bit. Weekend also topped off with Tony Watts Dundee UTD  career starting to implode. Their fans are hanging him out to dry and apparently a big bust up with him and Jack Ross at Tynecastle. .... Karma is a lovely thing.

Can’t see many on here shedding a tear hearing that.

  9. I think, similar to last season, teams will go on a run of good and bad games which will result in 6 teams chasing 5th & 6th spot leading up to the split. Basically the arse cheeks and Hearts will be there, another team will pull away and get a top 6 spot - hopefully us- two teams will be trying to avoid relegation- hopefully not us - and the rest fighting/ grinding out games.

  10. A great result and a great team display.

Thought before the game that Aberdeen had improved this season and would win - very happy to be wrong.
I think that the way Aberdeen play suits us as they don’t pack the defence which gives us the room to play.
Couple that with the new apparent freedom that the players have to be more creative and their refusal to capitulate when they went behind, gives me a lot of hope for the season.
I’d add a caveat that there will be more teams that are going to try and pack the defence than ones that will play an attacking game against us so we need to workout how to get a goal to force them out in those games or we could end up watching plenty of shitfests.
