In all honesty I can't see why he would turn it down, does he want to stay as the academy boss instead of getting back to management I'm not so sure. As you say I'm sure it's just sorting out the contract details and he will be in charge permanently on Saturday.

At the moment I’d imagine he’s making good wage as the academy’s head, add to that what he makes through tv/radio work, all without any real pressure.
If he takes the job how much more would he get and how much stick could he get?
No wonder he’s taking his time.

  2. Was looking dicy for the first 8 minutes but after that we were as good as or better than Hearts for the rest of the game.
SK wasn’t in my thoughts as manager but his selection’s, set up and constant talking to the players is putting him front and centre at the moment - wonder what the boards thinks

I used to be involved with a local Junior (now WOSL) team and the old president who had been there for decades and must have seen 20 odd managers come and go once told me that as soon as he appointed a manager the first thing he did was start looking for another one.

That’s good planning if you ask me

Yep totally agree, I know he didn't look like a player at times but he didn't pick the team or the position he plays. I still don't think he's good enough at spfl level but the stick was ridiculous

I think he will eventually come good at SPFL level - not comparing but look at Shanklands career.

Football has  changed utterly since then.

Every club will have a similar stat re managers.

Bosman, player power and the amount of money in the game plays a large part in manager turnover.

Totally, nowadays if a manager is any good a bigger team will take him and if he’s poor we get rid of him.

  6. With his dad being an ex professional and a manager himself, I’d imagine that he will be overseeing his boy’s career and will be heavily involved in any decision - maybe we could offer him a job as assistant to the new manager if he gets his boy to sign on again :)

edit: I’m sure he did not bad at Killie and only left after falling out with the board - feck it if he keeps the boy here make him manager ;)

Club can only do so much , if he has a storming finish to the season I don't suspect he will stay with us.

If that’s the case then hopefully he can help us avoid relegation before he goes and we get a decent sell on clause when he goes.

I would suggest a year with no season ticket money (which was largely our choice) and spending what we did on a pitch following 2yrs of hardship wasn’t the wisest decision

admirable in the case of the season tickets perhaps but financially suicidal in my opinion and I’m sure others

On the season ticket money, my understanding is that the way the insurance policy worked, the club was obliged to repay the season ticket money to the ticket holder which they did by giving them a free season ticket.
The club then tried to get the holders to donate money to the society in the hope that they would make out of it.
If people did this then the club made out of it but if people kept their cash - and they were well within their rights to do that - then the club didn’t make as much out of the insurance policy.

As to the money spent on the pitch, £100k savings a season is a players wage  - or could be a massive difference if we go down.

edit - not sure how much the club make from season tickets each season but I’d be surprised if it’s over £1M

As much as you want him to do well, he is not doing himself any favour’s, I know we can’t keep sacking managers, but how long do we have to suffer this, we are horrendously bad.

Need to give a manager at least a season, not nice watching this shit but two managers have failed to turn these players into a team why do you think a third will have better luck?

Can anyone provide any insight on this process? It never seems to affect Celtic, or is that because they’ve got more money and clout?

possibly as he arrived yesterday, he’s going through a medical today or tomorrow and will sign once everything is ok.
possibly Celtic and other bigger clubs do this sort of thing abroad before getting the player over so the signing appears to be done quicker.

Never got a fair chance. Imho

Possibly correct as he was a decent player but my memory is that his shots were always a bit off target or straight at the keeper.
strikers can go through patches like that then all of a sudden every touch, flick or even miss hit ends in a goal.

We made a fatal mistake when GA arrived by signing players on 3 year contracts supposedly to be building a team sorry those days are long gone we need to be constantly changing the team each year only keeping those players who show potential on longer deals so we can recoup by selling.

Trouble with shorter 2 year deals is that any player showing promise after year 1 usually doesn’t want to sign an extension so either has to be sold - normally on the cheap - before he leaves on a free or we accept that we’re getting no money for him and hope he doesn’t decide to see out the last 6 months without injuring himself.

If we lose i'd expect to see Kettlewell in the dugout for Arbroath.

We can’t start changing manager every 6 months, we need to give SH time.
If Kettlewell is better than SH, why was he not given the job initially?

The guy couldn’t hack it at County so I doubt he is any better than SH.

Simple goal, again the basics not being done with dreadful awareness by Penney

Penney was left with two players to mark. Lamie was marking Nesbet then left him alone by going towards the Hibs player with two Motherwell defenders beside him - Lamie to blame not Penney.

I can understand people picking Kelly for his saves but I thought KVV was very good today and on a good day he should have had at least 3 goals today

That makes absolutely no sense to me, you’re saying he was very good today but only scored one goal and missed a couple of sitters but on another day when he was only good he would have scored 3 goals 🤔 and for that hypothetical reason he’s man of the match?

if that’s how we’re picking motm this week then I’m going with Shield’s, as hypocritically he could have scored today. 😆
