Good game tonight put that application in and we will win more than lose, however cheap goals again caused by our slack play

Good application will only get us so far, we will only win if someone manages to put the ball in the feckin net.

As I’ve said if the rule is giving away a penalty is an automatic yellow card then demanding that the referee implement the rule correctly is the least Hammell should be doing. If the rule is that it’s at the referee discretion then that’s different.

Although I think he should have been booked, I don't think the rule is that the card is automatic. And again, there is absolutely nothing to suggest we didn't ask the question or protest. Of all of our failings today, putting Gordon's non-sending off on the manager is a weird one.

I’m not putting that decision down as the reason a shite Motherwell team failed to get anything today but if Hammell is seen fighting for everything then maybe the players will show a bit more

Hammell should have been badgering the 4th official during the VAR review demanding a second yellow for Gordon to the extent that he got sent off if Gordon didn’t. That would have put the referee in a position.

Maybe he was? Maybe other players were? The ref knew he had a decision to make, and he made it. I think he was wrong, but I doubt players and managers shouting at him would have made any difference.

Unless there is a rule that states a goalkeeper can’t get an automatic booking for giving away a penalty if he had a yellow already, then the rule is he should have walked - was Kelly not booked a few weeks ago for the same type of incident?

edit: and if the manager isn’t kicking up a fuck and fight like fuck to get us every advantage that he can, then it’s no wonder the players don’t seem to have the fight to do the same. I can think of a few managers who would have went toe to toe with the referee over that decision

  5. When Hammell was touted for the job I said that if chosen we would have to give him at least 2 seasons to learn/ build a team and that there was the potential for relegation this year. Most folk on here were still willing to go with him, yet 12 games into his tenure I’m reading a lot of negative chat about him, talk that he’s not up to the job and even the need to change manager again - FFS can some folk stop and think before posting!
Yes we all see things differently and chat is good but get some perspective please - 12 league games and getting knocked out a cup quarter final by Celtic isn’t long enough to judge anyone on.
Am I happy with the results or the way we have lost most games? No but at times I see enough to encourage me to believe that thing could get better, results could improve and with some luck this team should be good enough to stay in the top flight this year.

  6. Watching the Hibs game on Hibs tv, StJohnstone defender goes down after being barged in the back by a Hibs player, the commentator then says in a slightly disguised voice “the defender got himself between the striker and the ball then goes down when he feels the slightest touch - a lot of centre defenders now do that” - made me laugh, Ryan Portious ?

Any team playing against other teams of the same Level should be capable of playing entertaining football and winning.

Kind of in agreement with this but if the other team plays to frustrate/kill the game, then it’s a lot harder to play entertaining football.

I had thought it would be preferable to have ex players involved in the VAR studio in support of current/retired referees, Having listened recently to former players confirm an embarrassing ignorance of the Laws of the game I am not so sure. And no amount of the co commentator pointing out that football has moved on makes any difference. Steve McManaman being a classic example.

Not into ex players being involved as they might be biased and I’d have rather set up the VAR review down in England using retired English referees who might have less interest standing by their fellow Scottish referees or in giving certain teams the benefit of the doubt that smaller teams might not get from Scottish referees.

  9. Just reading the report on our out on loan players and this made me laugh - I wonder what he said :)

Dunachie will not feature in East Kilbride’s round two tie against Caledonian Braves as the defender seen red in the second half after a conversation with the referee.
