    Relegation

"Killie have Julien Faubert" is probably my favourite from recent times.
  2. Very pleasing three points today. It's nice to walk out of Fir Park with that winning feeling again. I see there was no protest about the penalty. I was at the other end of the ground from where it was. Certainly looked to me as if it was one where Lasley "won" the penalty. Or was it simply a stonewaller? McDonald's play in the lead up to the second goal was fantastic, topped off with a great ball through to Moult. Well done to Johnson too for his run and finish for the third. I've been critical of him lately, but that's the kind of play you want to see from him. Poor from Ripley for the Thistle goal, but it thankfully had no impact on the end result. Credit due to Louis Laing today. I thought he was excellent overall. Now here's hoping we can do something about our awful record at NDP next week...

    Great thread. Will read again.
  4. I'd be happy with the suggestion that we go with Ainsworth on the right, and Gomis, Lasley & Pearson in the middle (Pearson covering wide left when we don't have the ball). The back four, and front two (should McDonald be fit) pick themselves. Let's get behind the lads tomorrow, eh? No need to be all "happy clappy", but there's no benefit whatsoever of screaming abuse at players/management less than 10 minutes into the game, is there? If you're the type where you have to turn into a seething mess at the football on a Saturday, save it for the Partick players. In about this lot, three points are there for the taking. 3-0 Motherwell.
  5. Certainly a point I'd agree with. Marvin Johnson, in a fast counter-attacking side, would be incredible. However, we aren't that team, because we don't have the players to play it. Thinking back to his goal against Hearts at Fir Park this season, or the opening two goals at Fir Park against Rangers, that's Marvin Johnson at his best for me.
  6. 27 starts for Marvin Johnson this season has only yielded 3 goals and 3 assists. For me, that return is nowhere near good enough. He seems to be the player who the board/management have pinned their hopes on for getting the big transfer fee, but it won't be happening anytime soon if this form continues.
  7. So Ainsworth has been involved in 8 Motherwell goals so far this season, as opposed to 6 for Johnson. Very interesting. What's the stats regarding appearences made (starts/sub appearences) for both?
  8. With McDonald pulling out pre-match, McGhee would have been left to either go like-for-like (Fletcher) or change the shape to accomodate another midfielder. With him going for Fletcher, there was no way he was getting 90 minutes out of him. Therefore, as there were no other strikers on the bench (how ironic is that after what we had earlier in the season!?) it was either put Lionel up top (to try and use his pace on the break perhaps?) or change the shape to go 4-5-1/4-3-3. However, as we now all know, we're not allowed to to go 4-5-1/4-3-3... Interesting to note Marvin Johnson has escaped criticism again. I've always felt when the chips are down, you look for your big players to get you out of trouble. Quite telling that he's done very little since the turn of the year.

what? Does your line manager keep on top of what you do, in your own free time? What would you say if your line manager "forbid" you from going out on a Saturday night? What a load of nonsense. What two 30-odd year old men do when they're not at work is up to them, not Mark McGhee.
  10. I think thoughts of Top 6 need to be put to bed. Our main focus should be getting enough points to stay safe. 9th or 10th will be absolutely fine for me this season. I do think we'll win on Saturday. 3-1.
  11. On one hand, they sound like they'll be great nights, particularly for the players & staff who were involved with MFC at the time and also the older supporters who remember the cup run well. On the other hand, let's have a whole host of party nights, re-release dvd's etc to celebrate us winning fuck all for 25 years...
  12. Remember the days when nobody knew who the General Manager was, and what the fuck they done all day? Simpler times.
  13. So you've aimed a volley of abuse at the guy, for simply doing his job? I'm sure his "Employment Experience" was equally as woeful that day.

Tremendous stuff! Never one to hold back his opinion is Jim, particularly on Twitter. Looking forward to listening to this one.
  15. Hopefully Mark McGhee gets the credit he deserves after that performance tonight. Three goals away from home. A clean sheet. Three very important points. Superb stuff - well done gaffer!
  16. So what your saying is, if we don't line up with a line up similar to yours (which is basically 1 midfielder and 5 attackers) we'll lose? Ok then.

I think you're crediting these people with too much intelligence. You know the answer as to how they'll continue to act...

    The Players

Spot on Busta. It's beyond tedious that, simply because he is unpopular with some, McGhee seems to get it in the neck for everything that's gone wrong. Yes, he's made mistakes. However, as you mentioned these senior players are once again letting down another manager. If we are able to scrape our way to safety in the next 3 months, we should be saying to McManus, Hammell, Lasley & McDonald their time is up at Fir Park. Time to start again.
  19. People still expecting James McFadden to come in and turn our season around? Jesus fucking wept.
  20. Just over 3300 Motherwell fans today, which is pretty much at the lower end of the scale of where we've been for the last few years. If there are people 'drifting away' simply because we're not winning all the time or playing very well, I'd suggest it says a lot more about the people in question than anything to do with Motherwell FC, or any of its employees. Not quite fitting of a supporter, 'uber fan' or not.
  21. Whatever it was, it worked better than the "must have" 4-4-2 that was on show on the second half.
  22. Hopefully he tells the truth and pins on the players. Who've bombed. Again! Let's not bother about that eh, let's all jump on the bandwagon to hate McGhee. That's working out well.
