  1. Well Jenno is suspended for the next three games so we'll have to change the midfield. Rossco to come in with the rest of the side retaining their places. The same effort and approach will see us win on Saturday, anything less and we won't. Can't see us losing the match (famous last words!!) but we should be good enough to win. 2-0 Well.
  2. A great effort from the lads last night, great atmos throughout the match and here's hoping that can be replicated for all remaining games.
  3. I'd be amazed if the whole ground was open for us and the Saintees fans, as the game will be lucky to draw 15000 I reckon. I can't see either end being open, so we'll probably share both North and South stands the way that United and Raith did for their semi last year.

For once its a very tough choice, and not because no-one was any good! A brilliant showing from everyone, but my vote went to Jeffers, who was magnificent!
  5. Outstanding tonight from 1 to 11, a great team performance from the off, the best of the season by far. It would've been great to see highlights on the Beeb, but they never had the foresight to do owt about it, lazy ignorants caants!! St Johnstone in the semis now, PLEEEEEASE don't feck it up Motherwell, not sure we could handle that! We need to ensure that we give us much on Saturday against the Sheep as we did tonight. There are 3 important league games before we head to Hampden, the focus now has to be reaching the Top Six so that we approach the semi in fine fettle. Mon the Well!!
  6. If Crags plays for NI tomorrow night then the best we can expect is him on the bench for us. That being the case I'd expect at least one of the injured players (Saunders, Hammell, Hateley, Jeffers) to be risked, although personaly I wouldn't, especially with those 3 vital league games in the following 10 days. So my team, assuming none of the injury doubts make it, would be this: Randolph Humphrey Hutchinson Page Gunning Jennings Lasley Forbes Jones Murphy Sutton Subs: Hollis, Craigan, Casagolda, Meechan, Pollock Huge match, season defining in fact. Regardless of the personnel I'll be there roaring the lads on. Here's hoping there's a large Well support with the same frame of mind.
  7. I'd have the Hump at right back, sure he could attack effectively from there whilst he's also disciplined enough to remember his defensive duties.
  8. I will be renewing for next season, just couldn't imagine not going along to Fir Park of a matchday! However, some enterprising thinking is required not just to attract new fans, but to placate those long-term fans considering not spending their hard earned at Fir Park. A flexi-ticket would be an excellent initiative, as would a ten game season ticket to be used whenever suits. As regards the name of the ticket for young 'uns to replicate getting 'lifted over', how about the MFC Helping Hand?
  9. I think we will just sneak into the top six, probably by a point. ICT have a similar run-in to us, so all we have to do is match what they do. It will be tight but I reckon we'll do it.
  10. According to SMC on the official site he's now due a 3 game ban, which couldn't have come at a worse time for us. As regards yesterday, if Jenno was booked how come Clancy wasn't ? His foul on Hump was high and late yet no card was shown.
  11. Tomorrow is a match we simply cannot lose if we have designs on chasing United and Killie, not to mention clinching our place in the Top Six. A win would be excellent, but at the very least we must take a point. Team wise we obviously have Jenno back, but it'll be interesting to see who drops out for him. Will we need both Hammell and Gunning in the starting XI? Also should we change formation to match up to Killie's 4-2-3-1? Glad I don't have that responsibility! I'd be happy with a draw tomorrow, probably either 0-0 or 1-1. However my positive head says we can pinch it, with Jeffers due a goal.
  12. The whole tribe went across in 2 cars, then after the game came back to Fir Park to welcome the team home, then went down the road to watch it all again!!! The next time we do it bevvy will be involved!!
  13. Delighted for big Randy, he has been superb all season and deserves this accolade. I imagine that the cup game will HAVE to be moved. United will have players on international duty too, so for me its inevitable it'll be moved.
  14. Was I the only one who wasn't aware of this, or was it a well-kept secret?!! Well its true, we are on the box again. Shite kick off time though, imagine there'll be a poor crowd.

A number of good performers today, but my vote went to Sutty, who apart from his two goals lead the line superbly and linked up well with Jeffers.
  16. Have to say I thoroughly enjoyed that today. It was a fantastic cup tie, and both teams approached it as such. Yes we lead twice and didn't win which is disappointing, but the overall performance of the team was excellent. We looked going forward. although Murphy wasn't on form today. Jeffers looked sharp and Sutty was superb. Having Jenno back for the replay will be a real boost, and could give us the key to winning the midfield battle, and ultimately the cup tie. Plenty of positives today, we stood up well to a United side with a tricky skillful midfield and lively forwards and caused their defence plenty of problems. The replay is anyone's but should be another cracker. £10 at the gate please, will ensure a big crowd and a cracking atmos. Glass half full tonight!
  17. Its a cup game so anything is possible. We seem to be inconsistent so after a shite showing last week we should expect a decent performance tomorrow! Team wise we are obviously without Jenno, so I imagine we'll see Saunders start at right back with Hateley in the central midfield three with Las and Forbes. I think we will line-up 4-5-1 and I think Crags will return to the starting X1, but I'm not sure whether Hutch or Gunning will drop out. I do think that Jeffers will be on the bench though. United have played twice this week already and might be a little weary, but they have guys like Daly, Conway and Swanson fit again, so we will be up against it. United will be the bookies favs, but I reckon we'll take a draw at least from this. Mon the Well!
  18. Massively disappointing this. Not just losing, but losing to a main rival for a Top Six place. Not doing much for the goal difference either. Shite.
  19. This appears very sensible to me, although it must be tempting to retain the same starting X1 that did so well on Sunday. I would restore Jeffers to the side as his predatory instincts should come in handy against a stuffy side like ICT. As long as we compete we should be good enough to win, although a draw would be a lot of neutral's best bet. I'll say 1-0 to the Well with Jeffers on target.
  20. I spoke to both Cristiano and Giuseppe before, during and after the match. It certainly was a great day for them and indeed all of us! I told them they will have to come to Motherwell games every week! Fair play to the club too, giving them a tour of Fir Park after the game. The guys were telling me they took a tour of Ibrox on Friday (we will forgive them for that!) and went to Livingston v Alloa on Saturday! Quite a football weekend! They travel home today, so I wish them both a safe trip back and say that you are both welcome anytime!

A really tough decision this, lots of great displays. I thought Hutch, Jenno and Sutty were great but my vote went to captain fantastic Las, who covered every blade of grass.
  22. Absolutely magnificent. Everything was right today, correct team selection and tactics and spot on attitude. Every player put in a real shift and can be proud of themselves. Shellic were poor and can have no excuses, we thoroughly deserved the win and 2-0 was a fair outcome.
  23. In my view any of the players doubtful should NOT play on Sunday. March is a pivotal months for us, with vital league matches at Killie and ICT plus the cup tie at Tannadice. Its a month that will determine the rest of our season, and we need our entire squad available. We will probably lose on Sunday either with our full team or with youngsters in the team, so why risk guys like Jenno and Las when we need them far more for next month. We could lose a few if they aggrivate injuries on Sunday, so I'm prepared to potentially take the hit for this game to (hopefully!) ensure a successful March. So my team would be: Randolph Page Hutchinson Gunning Hammell Hateley Forbes Humphrey Sutton Murphy Jeffers A reasonable starting X1 set out in a 4-2-3-1 formation. The subs bench would be inexperienced, but with Casagold, Meechan and Pollock there at least we'd have options. Result-wise it would probably be expecting too much of that side to take anything, but a battling show would make things interesting at least.
  24. Good post bigbuff. I started going to games in 1982 when we were in the First Division, and indeed we haven't been outside the top flight since 1984/85. That season we lost to Meadowbank twice! Things aint too bad in comparison! Perhaps its because this generation have only seen Motherwell in the SPL, playing in Europe, reaching cup semis and finals etc. Okay not all the moaners are young 'uns but its understandable that some might be spoilt by our relative success. Ask those who saw us lose at Berwick in 1980 if they think this is the worst ever! Yes its not brilliant, but its far from disasterous. We won't go down and can still make the top six and another cup semi. Let's get behind whatever team we have out on Sunday, cos they sure will need us! Mon the Well!!
  25. A huge disappointment tonight, from right before kick off. Have to say I was surprised that we changed the team and the formation. The Buddies play 3-5-2 so for us to switch to a 4-4-2 was baffling. Forbes had done fine in the last two games, so to not even get on the pitch seems harsh. Also, not sure why we switched Hammell to right back. Gunning was doing fine at right back. that switch unbalanced the team and allowed St Midden to pressure us more in defensive areas. Steve Conroy should be thoroughly ashamed of himself after his display tonight. On numerous occasions he allowed St Midden away with some heavy tackles, yet seen fit to punish us for any innocuous contact. For me we should've had a stick-on nalty in the first half, a goal then and perhaps the whole dynamic of the match changes. All that said though, it is very poor that we failed to even draw the game. I'd go as far as to say it was unprofessional. They were sitting back as the second half wore on, a bit like the Killie game. In that situation the worst we should take is a 0-0. Sadly we again conceded and lost a game we shouldn't have. Credit to St Midden for their work rate, they'll rightly be celebrating a result that all but keeps them up. However, I'd love Scottish refs to properly clamp down on teams who put the boot in and kick teams off the park. Unfortunately we've got more of this to 'look forward to' with 3 teams relegated at the end of next season. A bad night, and I fear an absolute raping on Sunday.
