    Dundee Utd

A number of good performers today, but my vote went to Sutty, who apart from his two goals lead the line superbly and linked up well with Jeffers.
  2. Have to say I thoroughly enjoyed that today. It was a fantastic cup tie, and both teams approached it as such. Yes we lead twice and didn't win which is disappointing, but the overall performance of the team was excellent. We looked going forward. although Murphy wasn't on form today. Jeffers looked sharp and Sutty was superb. Having Jenno back for the replay will be a real boost, and could give us the key to winning the midfield battle, and ultimately the cup tie. Plenty of positives today, we stood up well to a United side with a tricky skillful midfield and lively forwards and caused their defence plenty of problems. The replay is anyone's but should be another cracker. £10 at the gate please, will ensure a big crowd and a cracking atmos. Glass half full tonight!
  3. Its a cup game so anything is possible. We seem to be inconsistent so after a shite showing last week we should expect a decent performance tomorrow! Team wise we are obviously without Jenno, so I imagine we'll see Saunders start at right back with Hateley in the central midfield three with Las and Forbes. I think we will line-up 4-5-1 and I think Crags will return to the starting X1, but I'm not sure whether Hutch or Gunning will drop out. I do think that Jeffers will be on the bench though. United have played twice this week already and might be a little weary, but they have guys like Daly, Conway and Swanson fit again, so we will be up against it. United will be the bookies favs, but I reckon we'll take a draw at least from this. Mon the Well!
  4. Massively disappointing this. Not just losing, but losing to a main rival for a Top Six place. Not doing much for the goal difference either. Shite.
  5. This appears very sensible to me, although it must be tempting to retain the same starting X1 that did so well on Sunday. I would restore Jeffers to the side as his predatory instincts should come in handy against a stuffy side like ICT. As long as we compete we should be good enough to win, although a draw would be a lot of neutral's best bet. I'll say 1-0 to the Well with Jeffers on target.
  6. I spoke to both Cristiano and Giuseppe before, during and after the match. It certainly was a great day for them and indeed all of us! I told them they will have to come to Motherwell games every week! Fair play to the club too, giving them a tour of Fir Park after the game. The guys were telling me they took a tour of Ibrox on Friday (we will forgive them for that!) and went to Livingston v Alloa on Saturday! Quite a football weekend! They travel home today, so I wish them both a safe trip back and say that you are both welcome anytime!

    Celtic

A really tough decision this, lots of great displays. I thought Hutch, Jenno and Sutty were great but my vote went to captain fantastic Las, who covered every blade of grass.
  8. Absolutely magnificent. Everything was right today, correct team selection and tactics and spot on attitude. Every player put in a real shift and can be proud of themselves. Shellic were poor and can have no excuses, we thoroughly deserved the win and 2-0 was a fair outcome.
  9. In my view any of the players doubtful should NOT play on Sunday. March is a pivotal months for us, with vital league matches at Killie and ICT plus the cup tie at Tannadice. Its a month that will determine the rest of our season, and we need our entire squad available. We will probably lose on Sunday either with our full team or with youngsters in the team, so why risk guys like Jenno and Las when we need them far more for next month. We could lose a few if they aggrivate injuries on Sunday, so I'm prepared to potentially take the hit for this game to (hopefully!) ensure a successful March. So my team would be: Randolph Page Hutchinson Gunning Hammell Hateley Forbes Humphrey Sutton Murphy Jeffers A reasonable starting X1 set out in a 4-2-3-1 formation. The subs bench would be inexperienced, but with Casagold, Meechan and Pollock there at least we'd have options. Result-wise it would probably be expecting too much of that side to take anything, but a battling show would make things interesting at least.
  10. Good post bigbuff. I started going to games in 1982 when we were in the First Division, and indeed we haven't been outside the top flight since 1984/85. That season we lost to Meadowbank twice! Things aint too bad in comparison! Perhaps its because this generation have only seen Motherwell in the SPL, playing in Europe, reaching cup semis and finals etc. Okay not all the moaners are young 'uns but its understandable that some might be spoilt by our relative success. Ask those who saw us lose at Berwick in 1980 if they think this is the worst ever! Yes its not brilliant, but its far from disasterous. We won't go down and can still make the top six and another cup semi. Let's get behind whatever team we have out on Sunday, cos they sure will need us! Mon the Well!!
  11. A huge disappointment tonight, from right before kick off. Have to say I was surprised that we changed the team and the formation. The Buddies play 3-5-2 so for us to switch to a 4-4-2 was baffling. Forbes had done fine in the last two games, so to not even get on the pitch seems harsh. Also, not sure why we switched Hammell to right back. Gunning was doing fine at right back. that switch unbalanced the team and allowed St Midden to pressure us more in defensive areas. Steve Conroy should be thoroughly ashamed of himself after his display tonight. On numerous occasions he allowed St Midden away with some heavy tackles, yet seen fit to punish us for any innocuous contact. For me we should've had a stick-on nalty in the first half, a goal then and perhaps the whole dynamic of the match changes. All that said though, it is very poor that we failed to even draw the game. I'd go as far as to say it was unprofessional. They were sitting back as the second half wore on, a bit like the Killie game. In that situation the worst we should take is a 0-0. Sadly we again conceded and lost a game we shouldn't have. Credit to St Midden for their work rate, they'll rightly be celebrating a result that all but keeps them up. However, I'd love Scottish refs to properly clamp down on teams who put the boot in and kick teams off the park. Unfortunately we've got more of this to 'look forward to' with 3 teams relegated at the end of next season. A bad night, and I fear an absolute raping on Sunday.
  12. I see no need to change the team on Wednesday, except for any injuries. We might even be able to strengthen with Saunders and Jones possibly fit enough for the bench. Its usually tight when we play St Midden, they are like Accies in that they make it awkward for their oppoents and are big and strong. However they are able to pass it and are unlikely to resort to off the ball fouling like the pointless wee team from across the River Clyde! If we play to our strengths we'll win, with 2-0 looking like a sensible prediction.
  13. Its to the players and managements enormous credit that we have recovered so well from the humping at Greyskull. It could've ruined our season, but to recover with back to back wins is tremendous, with the prospect of another three points on Wednesday too.

    Hamilton

I thought Gunning, Las and Forbesy played well, but my vote went to Hutch who was excellent throughout.
  15. Thought we thoroughly deserved the win yesterday, the only drawback being we didn't kill the game off by scoring at least one more. Accies as usual tried to waste the game with a series of petty fouls and blatant thuggery, and although Crawford Allan was generally okay I felt he was lenient on some Accies players. Skelton went though Murph on more than one occasion and should've been off, and the same could be said for Paixao who dived, moaned and fouled his way through the game. Despite Reid's accusations it WAS a nalty and some refs might even have showed a red card. Good defensive display all round, and despite a late mis-kick Hutch was superb. Here's to another 3 points on Wednesday!"
  16. Any win will do me, but there are so due a pumping from us, and doing it tomorrow would be very sweet. Team wise I just wonder if SMC will make a couple of changes to freshen it up. Hammell is fit again and Hump will be desperate to start. That said we played well on Tuesday, but for a change its a nice selection headache we have. We should win, and I reckon Foprbes is due a goal given his efforts recently. A first Fir Park goal for 'La Renard' too!
  17. Fuckin delighted with that result! Chuffed for Stuart and the lads after Saturday's debacle, this will do wonders for their confidence. Fantastic that Franny Jeffers scored too, should hopefully silence his critics. Anything else........oh aye...... GET IT RIGHT FUCKIN UP YE BROON YA LYIN AULD BASTARD!!!!!
  18. The Well team lines up thus: Randolph Hateley Craigan Hutchinson Gunning Lasley Jennings Forbes Murphy Sutton Jeffers Subs: Hollis, Hammell, Humphrey, Page, Casagolda, Pollock, Smith Not sure why Jones isn't even on the bench. Injured maybe. Blackman starts for the Sheep.
  19. I'd get the players in tonight and tomorrow for extra training. Folk spent their hard earned money to watch us get pumped today, we need to arrest this slump quick smart or the Top Six will become out of reach. If not and we go out the cup, apathy will set in big time. A very very bad day.
  20. Guys, I advise that you send a personal message to Flow and Leeann Dempster. Flow is the MFC Media Relations guy and a good Well fan, and Leeann is (I think!) the Chief Executive. Both are very helpful and accomodating people who should be able to organise something for you. Enjoy your trip, maybe I will see you at the Celtic game!
  21. Aaah the enigma that was Sasa Curcic!!!
  22. I can't see Jeffers starting to be honest, and if Lasley and Hammell are unavailable through injury then Murphy will have to start. Remember we are already without the suspended Saunders. I would partner Hateley and Jennings in a holding central midfield, and allow Humphrey, Murphy and Jones to do the running to support Sutton up front. This being the case I'd have Page at right back and Gunning at left back, assuming Craigan avoids injury for Northern Ireland of course! So, here is my team: Randolph Page Hutchinson Craigan Gunning Hateley Jennings Humphrey Murphy Jones Sutton If we get anything positive from this game it'll be frankly amazing, given our record against them. However the League Cup Semi should raise our confidence enough to suggest we could give them a game. I'd be much happier if Lasley is available, and if he is we can pinch a point. If not, it will be very tough indeed.
  23. This will be the third game out of five since Ross Forbes 'goal' a year ago that John Fucking Gilmour will run the line at Rangers v Motherwell. Are they running out of linesmen or something, or are they still slapping us down for our public criticism of that decision? Very poor stuff indeed.

    The Draw

Sadly it probably will be, as Sky will take the ICT v Blue Bigots/Green Bigots and the BBC are likely to televise our game. Like the Sheep v Pars I'd expect a Sunday 3pm kick off. Let's hope they reduce the prices and the club organise free transport, otherwise our support will be much less than expected.
