  1. Mind you, if we as a club are in no position to barter over transfer fees, neither are Accies! I expect 'Watty' to go in the summer, and if we can get 500k and use some or most of it to keep other players and improve the squad then fine. He's due a move up the ladder anyway, having seen Clarky, Coach and Shug leave for bigger money.
  2. We dug in well on Saturday, but I wonder if the team needs freshening up for tomorrow. There is an argument that Jimo will tire as he did on Saturday following his illness, and Las could do with a wee rest, so maybe Giles and Forbesy could come in? It all depends on how the players look in training, but this is usually a physical trench warface type of game, for which you need fully fit bodies, so I wouldn't consider starting Lukas either. Like I said before Perth I'd take a point as we usually struggle there, and I think we'll get that at least.
  3. Its very much up for discussion as far as I'm concerned. A Top Six place is pretty much guaranteed and with a seven point lead over the Jambos we must surely be aiming to catch either Hibs, Dundee United or possibly both. Its very possible that 5th will be enough for a Europa League place, but that would mean starting the season in early July again. This time we should be better placed to get off to a good start, and who knows how we could perform with a settled line-up. There is plenty to play for in our remaining eleven games, who'd have thought that after the Inverness cup tie?!!
  4. An absolutely HUGE three points for us yesterday, and a result I didn't see coming as we struggled under the cosh for long spells in the first half. Their ariel bombardment through Deuchar caused us no end of problems, although they were neat and tidy all over the park too to be fair to them. We had to defend really well at times and were a bit fortunate to be level at the break, but that's due to the effort of Ruddy and the lads for hanging in there. Second half was more even and I feel our subs were more effective that theirs, so credit to Craig and Archie for that. A draw was probably fair but we did owe them for the Boxing Day debacle so screw them! Top Six in the bag now, bring on Europe!!
  5. That's poor stuff mate. Take it up with the club. Hopefully it's not that bad at every away game.
  6. They have a very difficult job to do, something I know I could never do. The media spotlight and coverage is massive these days and every error is magnified and disected to the nth degree. However, when they make the most basic mistakes and get easy decisions wrong I lose any sympathy I had for them.
  7. Big Roooooddayyyyyy for me, another amazing save and secure throughout as we had to defend stoutly for long spells.
  8. This should be another very tough encounter, as St Johnstone have been playing very well themselves too. We have yet to beat them but we owe them big time for Boxing Day. I expect Jimo to return and hopefully Lukas will be fit too, so along similar lines team-wise whatever happens. It looks for all the world like a banker draw, probably 1-1 because our defensive record can't last forever. That said, we might just pump them 4-0!!
  9. Its been a fantastic two months for us, the Inverness game apart of course, so this is more superb news. Craig and Archie have done a magnificent job, long may it continue. Now, what about Player and Young Player award?!!
  10. If we can secure four or five points at least over the next 3 games then the Top Six is pretty much guaranteed as far as I'm concerned. After that then we will definitely be in the European shake-up, which could be made easier if two from the top four reach in the Scottish Cup Final.
  11. It took Kaiser a year or so to settle at Fir Park, but after that he became a mainstay of the side, and a much-loved player of that era. I think the fans loved him because of how he conducted himself as much as his for his ability, and the welcome he got when he returned with Killie showed that. I hope he does well with Thistle, and wouldn't mind drawing them in a cup next year so we can see the Kaiser at Fir Park one more time.
  12. I think its down to keeping a settled back four and keeper, and having a hard working midfield in front of them. Jack and Victor must take credit too, as they must have had an influence on the training field. Now, all we need to do is start scoring a few more....

    Kilmarnock

Jenno for me again, great dig in midfield and cool on the ball too. Get him signed up now!!!
  14. That win takes us 12 clear of Aberdeen with 6 left to play before the split, so for me a Top Six place is virtually secure. It wasn't a pretty game, but then again Killie weren't interested in that. We should've scored more goals, and wee Jamie in particular will be wondering how he didn't net more than once. That said its another 3 points and another clean sheet, so no complaints at all. Mind you we really need to kill teams off, otherwise clinging to a 1-0 lead will lead to our downfall one day. Hopefully Lukas won't be too bad, and fingers crossed Jimo will return soon too.
  15. Great delivery from Hateley there, very difficult to defend.
  16. It did look really bad at the time, but TV pictures didn't properly reflect that which is probably why it was overturned. Not bothered anyway, we won!!
  17. It gives us three games in a week then a two week break, which might be good in allowing the squad to recharge the batteries. Now, if we can stay on our unbeaten run until then.....!!
  18. Not suitable for family viewing those ones!!
  19. At last some common sense from those in authority. It is obvious that Motherwell have done everything possible, but the worst winter in decades has caused this, not negligence on the club's part. Here's hoping the remedial; action is good enough for Saturday to pass without any problems. After that we'll have two weeks before the Jambos roll into town, and a further three weeks after that until Easter weekend and the visit of the Bairns. That should allow some time to work on the pitch properly.
  20. We've all seen that film before, it has a horrible and unjust ending! I do expect this to be much tougher than the previous encounters against them, and given their recent results perhaps our sternest test as they will fancy our pitch more than maybe we will. I would consider bringing Saunders in at right back to add height and strength at the back, with Hateley moving into midfield. If the Duke is fit I'd bring him back in beside Sutty, allowing Jimo to play in a free role behind the front two. Any win will be great here, and who apart from MJC would predict against it?!! Mind you, they have been lucky so-and-sos against us over the years, so wouldn't it just be typical..... Naah, 2-0 Well!
  21. A superb three points and just about deserved, although the old failing of struggling against ten men almost came back to haunt us. For me it was a straight red, Miller's lunge was very late and dangerous and could've caused a major injury. Jimo was perhaps a bit lucky to stay on, and if it wasn't for other players being in the way he may well have struck out. Not a great game but we dug in and defended well, and showed great patience in going for the win. Murph took his goal well, and credit to Sutty for the lay off.

    Hibernian

Jenno for me, fast becoming one of our most important players.
  23. Its a beautiful day, here's hoping for a beautiful game and a Well win!! Come on the Well!!!

    John Ruddy

He is definitely up there in terms of the best Well goalies I've seen, and if we can somehow sign him on a permanent deal then he'll make us a fortune some day. That said, the form he's shown this year will surely alert other clubs down south who can offer him a much higher wage and platform to display his talents than we can. Hope Not though!
  25. I expect a very tough game, despite their humping yesterday and the exertions they face in Perth on Wednesday. As far as our team goes I'd make a couple of changes to freshen things up. I think we need more pace so I'd start the Hump wide right instead of Sutty with Jimo moving left. In midfield I'd bring Hateley back in with Saunders coming into right back. Prediction? A draw would be a good result for me, but we are capable of winning.
