  1. Maybe SK has seen the light and is building a team to play an exciting brand of attractive, high tempo, expansive football that we all expect from that bowling green of a Killie pitch.
  2. He was OK in a middling, Championship level Partick Thistle side. Which is about as good as he gets. I'm hoping the new man has better ideas than that.
  3. I hope he got his work permit before that wee grass tried to turn him in.
  4. I'll settle for one than can tackle and stay in position.
  5. Which is a good thing, and what we need when a new manager comes in. Room for some new faces to fit their style.
  6. I'll need convincing McGinn isn't just a recurring injury waiting to happen this season before I considered punting SOD.
  7. I don't think it's anything to do with being a Society, tbh, as the Board runs the club and makes the budgeting and footballing decisions. More to do with the fact that we made poor choices with injury prone players and then had to make do with who was available in January (and we can afford). We did unearth a few good loanees though, like Gent, Spencer and Biereth. Wimmer wanted a squad of about 22 players, and that seems about right to me.
  8. Did the loan rules allow a recall of Connelly last Jan? Regardless, I don't really take much notice of the messaging from the club at this time of year. It's all meaningless until an actual contract is signed and actual clearance obtained.
  9. Who knows? Maybe the new manager will have a training regime that doesn't crock 3 first team players per week.
  10. Of course, the "dialogue" might be "Do you know any good players we can sign?"
  11. Daws doesn't get to offer players new contracts.
  12. Agree about the legacy members. That has always been confusing, even before the monthly contributions arrived. Maybe we can get some clarity at the Society meeting at the end of the month.
  13. So no more "can play anywhere across the front three, number 10 or wingback" signings?
  14. So Paton to to Killie then?
  15. Even if we don't play with fullbacks?
  16. I know it's optimal to get players in early, but it's 12 weeks until the window closes. In particular, if we plan to bring in loans from down south, that usually happens later rather than sooner. As usual, I imagine the first starting lineup in the league cup will bear little resemblance to our starting lineups in September.
  17. I liked Moses, but remain unconvinced he could have been a starter for us. Most of the goals he scored were when we were in "throw the kitchen sink to grab an equaliser" mode. He was less effective in the starting line-up.
  18. Lennon Miller played in a team that shipped goals for fun and struggled to create last season. So it's possible to be a good player in an average (or worse) team.
  19. Any time any team in Scotland takes the opportunity to break the "good honest team" mould, I'm all for it. Whether it's Laszlo at Hearts, Ange at Celtic or ourselves with Wimmer. It doesn't always work out, but it's worth the risk to bring some new ideas into a too-often stale league.
  20. If they bring in another Biereth, I'm OK with that.
  21. High press, is relatively new, though. They didn't call it slow, passive, but the Spanish Tiki-Taka is much slower and less direct most of the time and was all the rage for a while. Then you have the counter attacking style that was (and still is) popular with many coaches. Again, not aggressive or front foot.
  22. Playing right backs as central defenders is as productive as playing goalies as number 10s.
  23. That also rules out Strathclyde Park.
  24. Fadinger sounded like a Miller replacement, but even if he is, we could do with 2 players that can fill that role.
  25. Like most players who leave us for a team in the same division, I hope they do well and I hope their team always finishes behind us. Here's hoping we can rebuild a less leaky central defence now.
