  1. Did Turnbull get injured again? I saw he was a sub midweek, produced the assist for a late winner, and won his starting spot today. I turned today's game on later in the first half and he'd been subbed after 32 mins.
  2. Slattery to AP for the opener.
  3. He certainly was under SK, but on the other hand he's played in leagues that tend to be (or certainly used to be) a bit more technical and more likely to play a JBA style. I'm sure JBA will be able to assess him pretty quickly, though, and agree it's much more likely he will be moved on.
  4. It will probably never happen, but I'm curious to see if Stuparević fits into JBA's style.
  5. He did. And we did get relegated with McAllister, which led to his first major (?) title when we won the First Division in 1885.
  6. Guys like Faddy and Gary McAllister have played in some of the poorest Motherwell teams I have seen.
  7. When a young player is out of contract, my understanding is the two clubs can still make a deal e.g. waive the compensation fee due, and take a future cut of transfers instead. The UEFA calculation only comes into play if no agreement is reached. (Although I could be wrong, because I don't really keep up to date with all those rules) Agree about Derby County, though. Seems like a step backwards.
  8. Sparrow out too. Which by my reckoning means SOD playing right back and central defence.
  9. I don't see anyone getting animated - just poking fun at the fact he has been predicting a miserable defeat every week for many years. Like our own Marvin the Paranoid Android.
  10. Arsene Wenger says a new player needs a 6 month stint in the first team to 'come good' - and that's if they have moved from a team in the same league. Longer if they are from a different league. Maybe he's right.
  11. As long as he keeps moving his legs to avoid blood clots!
  12. I'm not sure this is true. Different strikers have different abilities, and different strengths in different areas. Just like any other position. I'd say Kris Boyd was a penalty box striker. Michael Higdon, not so much.
  13. Well that was the defence they offered. Not necessarily the actual truth.
  14. If we tried passing it in front of him instead of lobbing high balls he might be more productive.
  15. I would think so. And given most of Europe goes on holiday for 2 or 3 weeks in August, things tend to slow down a bit.
  16. Didn't make much of an impression at all.
  17. It feels like anyone we sign who ever played for St Johnstone has scored against us at McDiarmid Park.
  18. Typical Motherwell. Cup game, live on telly, in front of a big crowd and disappointing their fans before a ball is kicked.
  19. I'm assuming at 5ft 9 (and a half) he's the type of player that needs the ball to feet.
  20. You can prove anything with facts!
  21. Attendance now posted on St Johnstone's site: 4330
  22. In his last 3 seasons, he's made 49, 30 and 32 appearances in all competitons, so his knees can't be too bad.
  23. Seems to fit the bill nicely (unless we were looking for a 6ft 3 bruiser).
  24. After JBA dips into his war chest.
