  1. It's certainly possible - he was decent last season, which is why I surprised his form had dipped so much the last couple of games. I'd have been tempted to keep Carroll at left back, but if it is only fitness lacking, maybe GA thought game time is what was required.
  2. Don't see a MoTM thread yet, but on the other end of the scale I thought McGinley was poor in the Airdrie game and poor again today. He's been easy to beat defensively and his passing when he comes forward has been even worse. I don't expect players to be on top form at this point of the season, but was surprised at his lack of form so far.
  3. Also, the window is open until the end of next month. I'd rather wait two or three weeks to get the right players for the season than panic buy bodies for the Hibs game.
  4. Unknown to you doesn't mean the people inside the game don't know him. Come to that, the Southampton fans know him too.
  5. "I'm really sorry, dear - I'd have loved it if you were sitting beside me, but the ticketing system MADE me put you up in the back row of the South Stand. Give us a wee wave to let us know you arrived safely."
  6. If I was the club, I wouldn't sell any away tickets unless every 'Well that wants to attend gets one.
  7. If anybody thinks we will actually be signing "brilliant" players then maybe we're not the team for them. What he actually said, of course, was that they'd be "brilliant additions to the squad" - which is an important distinction. A decent midfielder that can pass a ball could be a brilliant addition to the squad without being a brilliant player. Plus, of course, it's just a figure of speech - but I think we all knew that really.
  8. You're easily embarrassed then. Every year we see the July panic and every year it has zero relevance (good or bad) to the league campaign. Then again, I've seen us get hammered in the League Cup by the likes of Queens Park and Clyde, so not that worried now. We'll win the next win and on we go.
  9. They are better than the full backs. We obviously changed some of the personnel tonight to give them some minutes and try a different front 3 formation, but none of them have put a claim in for a starting spot as they say.
  10. Save your embarrassment for after the pre-season.
  11. Defence has been pretty poor tonight, especially the full backs.
  12. We should use the Premier Sports cameras more often, it's top quality video tonight,
  13. Should be good now. They weren't streaming until the players were in the tunnel. Timing varies between streams.
  14. Could the home team not even make the effort to wear their right kit?
  15. From the ticketing website. So while it's quite possible the club could be communicating better, it's Ticketmaster that need to be dealing with this. (I really hate Ticketmaster, but they have a monopoly over here too).
  16. Live stream tonight for overseas (and "overseas") subscribers to MFC TV.
  17. Even worse if it's a TV game in front of a big crowd. We never win those.
  18. And then draw a Premiership team away in the next round.
  19. That's how we got Skippy and Faddy back (and Cole come to that), and we managed to sign Watt and O'Donnell as free agents for similar reasons. I didn't think Long was all that bad, and one of the best games I have seen at Pittodrie was when Watt and Long destroyed the Dons defence when we beat them 3 - 0. But he was much better in in a front 2 then when we wasted him playing out wide in 3. He was certainly more effective than guys like Jordan White, Alex Fisher, Conor Sammon or the enigma that was George Newell.
  20. Last season they said they would give a credit to season ticket holders if they couldn't honour any of their 19 home games. By the end of the season they welched on that and offered a small discount on this season's ticket instead. According to their website, that saved them £700k. If they applied a similar approach to other parts of their commercial revenue, I imagine that quickly adds up.
  21. Or longer, if you think that Clydebank -> Airdrie Utd -> Airdrie means they aren't our old rivals that were liquidated in 2002.
  22. So what you're saying is the complaints about his lack of smiling were irrelevant and maybe even obsessive, when the real issue was his perceived ability?
  23. The irony about smile-gate is that Cole smiled even less, but nobody mentioned it.
