I was having the same discussion at the weekend. I'd much rather see a decent player in his natural position than trying to push someone the manager thinks is better out of position. Players are getting drilled every day so their positional tactics become second nature. Asking them to play elsewhere after a couple of days' get together is just looking for problems. Both goals we lost in the past 2 games were entirely avoidable and I doubt if O'Donnell, Gallagher or any natural defender would have been caught out the same way.

I don't know about hopeless, but he's not at his best in a back 3 that Clarke seems to prefer. I wouldn't see being picked as part of the squad as being "career over" though. I'd be more concerned if I was O'Donnell as McTominay is not close to being a decent right-sided defender - not surprising given he is a centre-mid normally - and he has got the nod twice over O'Donnell.

Cedric's move confirmed. Despite all the speculation on here, I'd be surprised if we weren't getting our agreed cut of the fee. It's our bread and butter. Shame DT didn't follow this route, but maybe he'll be inspired to move down south sooner rather than later, and for hefty sell-on fee.

We certainly lost some of that intensity when we went all seated in the East. As a club with a financial philosophy these days of "break even", the only way we could obtain the cash to build a new stadium would be via a substantial loan or from a benefactor. Having just become debt-free, the thought of assuming a new debt or being beholden to an individual investor does not appeal. So unless we can get a substantial no-strings attached donation from somewhere, I can't see much beyond the usual fare of a small box effort with uncomfortable plastic seats and a one way system that backs-up at full time. I really hope I am well and truly wrong about that.

That's standard practice for just about any team who is about to transfer a player. It ensures we get a better price and sweetens the deal for both parties. If we'd played him, Celtic (or any suitor) would be asking for a discount.

The all seated Fir Park can look ugly. You notice that even more if you view it from the Phil O'Donnell Stand. It doesn't look as bad from the other side looking into the O'Donnell. While it was by no means pristine when it had terracing, its open air nature did make it look better when it was empty. Or maybe that's just the nostalgia talking.
