  1. Robinson said earlier this week he was looking for 2 more forwards - so one of those might end up with 11. These days, players often pick and choose their favourites, so it's not big surprise to see the wide range and the odd blank.
  2. Has Taylor touched the ball? I've only had one eye and ear on the game, but haven't heard his name mentioned.
  3. Nicky Law also starting for Exeter today.
  4. Bowman starting for Exeter in the play-offs today.
  5. By how many teams? And how would you resolve the unfairness in, say, The Championship where, with 8 (or in some cases 9) games to go, no team has mathematically secured promotion and every team down to Partick Thistle could accumulate enough points to secure a play-off spot? What would be a fair way to decide who is promoted into the expanded Premiership? Also, what were your fair plans before it got to this stage?
  6. Still waiting to hear what solution you had that would have been fair to every team in promotion and relegation slots.
  7. Not many good young wingers in world football, never mind Lanarkshire.
  8. The problem we faced recently is that we moved on most of our good youngsters, willingly or unwillingly. McKinstry, Hastie, Scott, McAlear and Cadden all left us and Turnbull would have too but for his injury. Given that one youngster a season claiming a first team spot is a pretty decent return, there is a lot of catching up to do there. Although we will be starting the season with Cambpell, Turnbull and Maguire in the frame - all of whom feel older than they actually are.
  9. In his latest Twitter piece, Robinson says he's looking for 2 more strikers (budget permitting).
  10. Aye, but he plays for Solihull Moors in the National League. (Not that I thought he was signing for us - just joking about when someone mentioned National League strikers).
  11. I think Tait still has a future in the Premiership. If I was him though I wouldn't have even considered signing for any team that plays on plastic.
  12. Be nice if he stayed. We'll cope if he leaves. It's how we roll.
  13. Given that Robinson said a couple of weeks ago we'd be depending on more youngsters this season, we need to hope they are good enough.
  14. The only thing I remember was he "was out for the rest of the season" - but haven't seen any updates since then. Never hurts having cover for left back, though.
  15. Seems like Samson has a nice coaching career these days.
  16. I can't imagine we are doing social media promos for Tait.
  17. Right, but the main argument on here is band vs hoop (and how it's the hoop that is the "traditional" style). How many true hoops since 1970? Like I said, my formative years from the ages of about 5 - 20ish were hoopless, and images of guys like Wullie Pettigrew are seared onto my brain wearing the sash kit. So while I am 100% in favour of maintaining traditions and the hoop, on a purely personal front, the memories of chipmunk crisps, kia-ora and "goal for Pettigrew" will always be emotionally tied to those other styles (even though, aesthetically I'm a big fan of the current version). It's for much the same reasons I'll never like any change kit more than a white one.
  18. As long as we don't sign the plastic pitch from Livi, it will all be good. (Talking of which, are we ripping up the turf again this year? I remember the groundsman saying at the start of the project, the plan was to reach a point where the summer work would be less intense than the early years).
  19. A precontract is a commitment to sign anproper contract at some point in the future. There's still some legal questions about how enforceable they are if one party pulls out. A lot of that depends on exactly what was signed. Richie Brittain is a fairly recent example of someone changing their mind after signing one.
  20. To be honest, in the 50 odd years I've been following MFC I'd guess about half of our kits have had no hoop/band at all. The first games I went to were in 1970, and until 1984/85 we had less than one season with a hoop. All the other seasons were either plain shirts or the diagonal sash. So my formative, mpressionable years as a 'Well fan were very much with no hoop or band.
  21. Generally yes. Stopping a production line, retooling, restarting for 50, stopping, retooling and restarting would typically be very expensive and the cost overhead could only be spread across those 50 shirts. Newer technology can make these things quicker, but downtime and idle machines are still something that any manufacturer of any product wants to avoid.
  22. Setting up a manufacturing run for 50 unique shirts would be very expensive I imagine. One-offs and small batches rarely make economic sense.
  23. I think the rules are clear. It's just impossible for us to test a matchday shirt with the appropriate equipment, so all we can do is guess. Like I said earlier, though, the explanation for us could be as simple as Macron don't do hoops for clubs like us.
  24. You're trying too hard now. You won't catch any fish unless you dial it back a bit.
