  1. It doesn't just get into their heads, it's awful to play on and when you don't train on it every week can be difficult to adapt to. When the ball has strange bounces and passes get stuck, things that players do instinctively on grass need a little extra thought to adjust - and that slows things down. Killie's pitch is worse, and if you can bear to watch a game on there, you will often see players having to take 2 touches to control a bouncing ball that they would normally have tamed in their sleep. Plus, it's easy for teams to make it difficult for passing sides but making sure it's kept dry and sticky. The worst example of that I saw was at an Accies game where they literally watered the half Accies were attacking into at half time, and kept the other half dry. Can't get rid of it soon enough.
  2. VAR 1 - 2 Motherwell' Take your pick...
  3. Aye, I can see why he might have wanted to come back to play in the UK, but given Derby's recent troubles on and off the park, that always felt like a bad move. There must have been better options available from a footballing perspective.
  4. Remember it well. Strolled through a game on a pleasant evening. The only reason we were on the telly was because, in those days, the rules said if you wanted to show the highlights of an English or Europoean Cup game when there were Scottish games being played, you had to show highlights from a Scottish game too. And we were the best option that night.
  5. Not one of our finest seasons, but I did like that kit.
  6. It's not just the defence that is the issue when we concede, it's what the entire team is doing when we don't have possession. When we stick to plan, we generally do the right things to get back into shape quickly , compress space and shut them down. When we don't stick to the plan, we sometimes lose the plot and panic, leaving big gaps all over the place. While that has happened in spells this season, for some reason against Falkirk we spent the entire 2nd half playing that way. All the more surprising after the first half performance.
  7. I have trouble keeping up with the coaching staff appointments across the teams these days. I only recently discovered Paul Smith was at Falkirk.
  8. Maybe JBA doesn't need him at the first team games because he integrates the youngsters a different way.
  9. He did - and it made him joint top goalscorer for Scotland alongside Denis Law. Worth watching the whole video if you have half an hour to spare.
  10. I'm a jinx. Other than the 1991 Cup Win, we have lost every other game I have been to. Unless you count the 2nd leg of the League Cup tie against Queens Park which we won, but were still eliminated because they had put 4 past us at Fir Park. Can't complain about about the win I have seen, though! Best Scotland game I have been to was the World Cup qualifier against Spain (in 1984) when we beat them 3 - 1.
  11. Of course not. But I was responding to the discussion about Rangers fans supporting (or not supporting) England, which seems to have upset you for some reason. That doesn't magically make me pro-Celtic, unless you follow the Old Firm method of sectarian logic.
  12. Having an England shirt as their change kit doesn't help their case.
  13. I must have good blocking in place, because it opened fine for me (and I've never paid them). Usually pasting the URL into a private browser window does the trick. Anyway, here it is.
  14. Our form always drops after an international break. Discuss - after you take your pick...
  15. That's what I was thinking. Looks like they have been practicing final balls, and he's not there.
  16. Finally a booking - even if he should have played advantage.
  17. For a team that "plays football the right way" Falkirk are doing a lot of hacking.
  18. That, plus every other 5 minute VAR decision.
  19. Wasn't an error at all. Never a foul.
  20. SFA: VAR won't be refereeing games VAR: hold my beer.
  21. I suppose it depends of they are looking to develop him as a full back or a midfielder. As good as he is, Stevenson can't play both at the same time.
  22. There were all sorts of complications surrounding the Hampden redevelopment, from the Taylor Report requirements appearing mid-plan to the city council withdrawing support. Not the mention the fundamental issue that Queens Park owned the stadium and had zero funds to contribute. The people in charge, however, didn't make things any easier. It is also very true that - to quote the Time article here, the "Tories Planned to Destroy Hampden Park". It's rare to find a government that doesn't treat football and fans with contempt, but that particular government was worse than most.
  23. Fans giving up on us 7 games into the project is why we can't have nice things.
  24. If they ever decide to play a semi final on the plastic at Rugby Park, I am giving up on the game. I have no problem paying them at neutral grounds, but grass needs to be involved.
