  1. That's true. A few quid in the bank and no more squinting to look at their numbers.
  2. Alfred seems to like a few more forward passes than Jens too. So that should be interesting. Early days, but it looks like we have a plan.
  3. Faroe 'Nuff We've never lost a European tie wearing that shirt. Now take your pick - (they made me do my research to list the squad tonight).
  4. No VAR. It's been a treat. I especially enjoyed the ref playing advantage, seeing the resulting offside then bringing it back for our free kick.
  5. If Longelo and Charles-Cooke are fit to start next week I think we'll be fine.
  6. I'm confident that will happen. I'd be very surprised if this isn't the weakest starting 11 we field all season. We had a much stronger 11 against Clyde in the first game last season, and we were mince for most of it.
  7. Need to stay focused. This is the stage of the game where HB will be a bit more adventurous to see if they nick one.
  8. He's not really a centre forward, but maybe we can turn him into one.
  9. OK so far for a first competitive outing. Need to keep the tempo up second half.
  10. I think so. From what I read about them, their business model is to act as a platform for globally distributing smaller clubs video streams.
  11. There are plenty of counter examples to that, but that's not really the point. I vistied Wrigley Field last year, and they did a fantastic job refurbishing their classic building to keep its character, but bring it into the 21st century. However, as I said, I'm in favour of a new build, but there are legitimate concerns about its design. I honestly can't think of any Scottish team that has moved stadiums (stadia?) in the past 20 or 30 years where I was impressed with the new one. Forest Green Rover's plan for "Eco Park" is quite an attractive proposition, but that is budgeted at 100 million. I also have less faith in the local authorities or government in providing the necessary levels of support it may need. I do have faith in the current board to make good decisions, but any new build still carries mutliple risks, and mitigating those risks can lead to compromises we might not like.
  12. Bobby Graham. EDIT: to elaborate, he was a strong performer in an good Liverpool side that included Ian St John, Roger Hunt and later Keegan and Toshack. He almost certainly only signed for us beause Ian St John was the manger, and as well as being an excellent player himself, he struck up a great partnership with Willie Pettigrew. He spoiled me as a young fan, as I thought every striker that played for Motherwell would be as good as those.
  13. If there are genuinely viable options to ugrade Fir Park to a modern and sustainable stadium, that will always be my first choice. Sadly, I'm not convinced there is a viable option, so I'm on board with a new build.
  14. Not that we would have disclosed it either.
  15. Did you get kicked off for calling it a boat?
  16. We need to follow the same recruitment strategy as last summer.
  17. They could beat us 4 - 0 and I still wouldn't be embarrassed. You need to try and separate other people playing football from your own self-esteem.
  18. Most of the summer leagues are trying to avoid their unplayable winters. Ireland is the exception, but they wanted less competition from their more popular sports. I remember on a different thread I put together a list of all the challenges of playing a 10+ month season with off-season being the winter. I won't repeat them all in this thread, but a big one is the ever-expanding Euros and World Cups taking place every other summer. So teams with international players are going to be deprived of key team members for 5 or 6 weeks in alternate years. If the intent is to be more competitive in Europe, the Conference League for example, has ties scheduled in December and February. The Europa League has ties scheduled in December, January & February. So any level of success would mean a 12 month season including winter. Logistically it might be easier if there were less games in our season, but I don't see clubs voting for that either.
  19. It's being broadcast by SolidSport apparently. Not familiar with which countries they operate in, or if that means it might also be on MotherwellTV, but it might help locate a stream. https://solidsport.com/motherwellfc/games/g/b3deb2au EDIT: I just created an account on there, and it says I can purchase the game for 12 quid. But no hint to any geo-restrictions.

    Away kit

    Don't like.
  21. There's all sorts of challenges that would need to be overcome in Scotland with a 10+ month season. From pitch repair and remediation in months where the grass doesn't grow to preseason in mid-winter. That, however, is for a different thread.
  22. I'm on board in theory with the new stadium idea, I'd really want to see the numbers, though. I like the idea of having office space, conference and event facilities etc. for rent, but we'd need to approach the finances of that pretty conservatively so we don't end up with, to mix my metaphors, a money pit of a white elephant.
