Or maybe - just maybe - professional scouts and coaches whose livelihood depends on these things know more about identifying players they can develop than the punters who can't see passed their own biases.
It's always amusing that the same people who complain that we never get big fees for players are the same ones who post how poor our players are.
"Heneghan is shite, and won't ever improove!"
"What do you mean we flogged him for 50k? We were robbed!"
2014/15 was his best international season during the same 4 year period.
Zero goals in 2 games 2013/14
5 goals in 6 in 2014/15
3 goals in 11 games in 2015/16
3 goals in 8 games in 2016/17
Not too shabby.
But still not sure we could afford to make him a top earner for a couple of years and hope he scores more than another 4 domestic and 6 international goals.
Of course, he'll sign for Hearts now and hit 20.
His recent club stats are far from impressive. Five goals in his last 3 seasons, 16 goals in his last 4 seasons if you want to be more generous.
Not sure we have the room in our budget to pay him top dollar and hope he hits some form.
TBH I'm not sure what to make of Jules. We threw a him into a terrible team with a makeshift defence. Quickly killed his confidence. Not the best way to judge someone. Other guys like Hall and Hennigan have had big Mick beside them to talk them through a game.
Certainly didn't cover himself him glory, but not a lot of our first team regulars managed that either.
I know it's not quite the same, but no doubt the Cooper Bar will also be open to all fans before the game too. Let your Killie mate donate a few more quid to the club there.
In one of the Society emails, they said you could request a copy of the accounts. I'm sure if you do that and have questions, they'll be happy to discuss.
I'll be doing that myself at some stage.
I think someone also needs reminded that we all "own more copyrights than I care to mention". Mainly because anything original any of us have ever written is automatically granted copyright.
In fact, this post has probably added one more to my list.
Oh, I agree it's all ifs and buts at this stage of his career, but if the stories were to be believed, the big boys in the EPL are closely monitoring his progress.
But delighted he is continuing his development with us.
TBH, I don't have a problem with trialists any more than I have a problem with job interviews. In fact, I think it's a better way to get an idea of how a player will fit into the squad than watching them play in a different team with a different system in a lower league.
It's all about how we make use of the opportunity to assess them.
Sent 20 quid via Paypal.
Like a clueless computer n00b I wasn't paying attention to the updated Paypal website and missed the option to add a message. So I have PM'd you with my payment details (including the email address it will have been sent from).
Thanks again for organizing.
