  1. After the start to the season, delighted we are safe in the top 6. Even a month ago I thought 7th or 8th would be a great success. Looking forward to watching the play-offs now!
  2. I'll be delighted if we keep the 1 point.
  3. You could also mention how the fans are about to own our club instead of some greedy Americans who borrowed money against the club's assets and use the income to pay themselves millions every year. Of course, then you could be accused of being jealous of them and all they have achieved...

We have brought in 2 youth players who established themselves as first team regulars, and guys like Thomas on the fringe. We have also recruited younger players like Kennedy (22), Moult (23) and Laing (23) with an expectation of selling them. If we can do that every season we will be in decent shape. From what McGhee said in his Manager of the Month interview, it certainly sounds like he wants us to still invest in small transfer fees to complement the youth programme.
  5. So are you saying we didn't sign him on loan from a Championship team? Or just that he didn't play for Reading from 2009 - 2016? My point still stands. There are plenty of Jake Taylors in the lower half of the Championship just as there are EPL level players in the top half.

It's not about chasing. Each of the models you mentioned continue to be successful to a large degree. Of course there are ups and downs depending on the talent pool, internal politics etc. but it seems we are still too parochial in the way we address the grass roots. What makes that even more galling is that the UEFA coaching schools we run are regarded as some of the best in Europe.
  7. Very much this. That's what makes it so ridiculous he is still viewed as a top flight senior official. He just makes so many poor decisions and, by all accounts, is an arrogant twat along with it. A classic case of always being picked last when he was a boy.
  8. Not sure if it's better for us if Aberdeen win or lose against Hearts. If they win, I guess we'll see how the current Celtic players react to the pressure. Was watching the Cletic highlights at the weekend and while I thought the scoreline flattered them a little, that boy from Man City looked useful.
  9. So what we're saying is that we got it wrong and Championship player Jake Taylor is actually better than SPFL standard?
  10. The Rangers v St Mirren game has no bearing on the title, but that's why they moved it.
  11. Sounds like we should ask the authorities to change the kickoff time to ensure fair play. That precedent has been set in place recently with the St. Mirren game nonsense.
  12. As long as we finish above 10th, I'll still be happy. Top 6 finish would be a huge bonus, but not as important as keeping us away from the bottom 2.
  13. Maybe we should have taken an extra point from one of our other games to have made sure.

I'm OK with Celtic losing tonight and against us.
  15. Scottish players' failures down south has more to do with their character than their talent. Granted, recent parachute payment agreements hve meant a large sum of money flowing to talent in the top Championship teams, but watch a few games with teams in the bottom third and you'll see your fair share of mediocrity. I spent a few years going to Portman Road to watch Ipswich after they had been relegated, and some matches were reminiscent of our 80s spell in the First Division.

I'm sure he took it seriously too - just worried he might try to overthink thing again if he got the chance. I wouldn't want to pass up the chance of another Euro spot, but I'd almost prefer McGhee got an extra couple of weeks pre-season with the team than have an early start again.
  17. The funniest part was Ainsworth holding his head in anguish at sclaffing his shot and then watching it go in. Looked like his left foot just gave way under him as he hit it, but no way the keeper should have let it in. Happy to take it, though.

Nancy - change to an unrecognizable shape, no shots on goal - seriously?

If Utd make the play-off spot it's bad luck for the Championship team that plays them. Not that they are guaranteed a win as the Premiership team, but that momentum is a priceless. As Accies proved when they beat Hibs - much better to face a team that has slid down to 11th. Fair play to Utd if they do stay up, though. Football can be fickle, but even as recently as our win over them, I though they were a banker for the drop.

Also true! I know it's fans nature to look ahead, but I'll still be happy if we finish 10th or higher. If we make the top 6 then that is a hell of an effort after the way we started the season. Even McGhee earlier in the season said it would be "a miracle". Watching the highlights, we weren't great today. We'll need to step up a gear if we are to keep the run going. What was encouraging, though, was the players' reaction to the goal and the win. I don't think I have seen them celebrate so much since the playoff win. Looks like a great team spirit again, and that alone can put a few extra points on the board.

Let's get in the top 6 first, eh?
