  1. A well balanced midfield has ball winners and ball players. I don't remember many people complaining that Davie Cooper and Bobby Russell weren't doing enough tracking back. Too much emphasis on hard work over skill is why the Scottish game suffered over the years.
  2. Drifting in and out of games is often what ball players do; especially if their team mates dont pass to them. It's all about balance of course, but you can't fill a midfield with Craig Reids and hope to open a defence with a killer pass.
  3. Confirmed on MFC Twitter - signed until end of season.
  4. I think the idea is that it's open every night, not just on game days. Having said that, I don't think we have enough local support for that to be viable either.
  5. He was working as a scout prior to joining us, so could be someone he identified then.
  6. Surely nobody playing regular first team football at our level would want to join a team battling relegation.
  7. That just adds to the evidence that it wasn't possible to address the problems in the time available.
  8. Healthier than a night out down the pub and kebab on the way home (aka The Scottish Players' Diet).
  9. If we don't get relegated, will you cheer up a bit? Investigation/Inquiry is certainly overdramatic. Every business has regular reviews of its performance and I'm sure our Board is no different. Having said that, it's pretty well documented how and why we ended up in the state we're in, it just seems many posters on here either haven't bothered to keep up or are looking for something more sinister as a reason. Unlike many who want to point fingers, however, I expect our new owner will be looking at ways to move forward in a positive way rather than live in the past. That tends to be how successful business people operate - learn and move on.
  10. Now the Killie game is off, maybe a topic for the next podcast.
  11. What specific activities do you think 'Flow's involvement has caused to nosedive since he took over as GM?
  12. Difficult to be 100% certain of course, but is seems like his injury problems finally caught up. I think we were lucky/smart enough to get the best from him - and another good piece of business at the end of the day.
  13. He didn't do badly compared to John Gardiner, but he was pretty poor stuff.
  14. A game in October 2013 has nothing to do with the point I was making given I was talking about his later run in the team in Mar/Apr 2014.
  15. I'm not saying he started off well, but I'd be interested to hear opinions on what he did wrong in his last spell in the first team.

    Henri Anier

Paying off our debts so we could survive was probably a smart investment. I liked Anier, but don't rate him as highly as Ojamaa. He played well in a team that was playing well, but he'd probably be struggling as much as the rest of our mob right now. 11 goals in 4 years (9 of them with us) means the jury is still out for me on whether he is a genuine striker or not, but certainly put decent shifts in when he was fit. Good bit of business on our part to move him on for a tidy sum.
  17. So was Gunnar on many occasions, but his haters blamed that on him too and said it was his job to organize them and give them confidence.
  18. I imagined he'd be holed up in Bothwell in the new owner's holiday home.
  19. Ojamaa and Anier were 2 great pieces business and exactly the kind of deals we should be looking to in the future. If I got to choose, I'd stick with Ojamaa for the remainder of the season, but I realise that may not be an option.
  20. With our limited resources, we are more likely to wait on Moore getting back to fitness - which doesn't sound too far away now.
  21. I know I'm in the minority here, but I thought Nielsen did OK in his last run in the first team. Was a little surprised Hollis was given the nod when he was back fit. As for the game itself, 2 - 1 to us with a late winner.
  22. Not even close. John Gardiner and Howard Samaroff are easily worse than any of those three.
  23. The bottom line is that the General Manager is typically responsible for implementing the will of the Board. If there are problems at the club (and we can all see there are), then it's the Board's responsibility to identify the strategy to address them, not 'Flow's. I had my doubts about 'Flow's qualifications for the job, but the issues on the park are not related to that and neither are the financial issues that pre-date his promotion.
  24. Would still need someone to score goals - Anier has only managed 11 total in the last 4 seasons combined.
