  1. Not long after the Aberdeen game, Las said in an interview that the offer had been made and there were just a few details to be looked at. So hopefully that is still the case.
  2. I think most contracts expire May 31st.
  3. I doubt 2 or 3 seasons in the lower leagues appeals to Las at this stage of his career.
  4. Another one in the long line of "neds with talent" that have let their skills go to waste.
  5. Never any need to worry about the stories on here.
  6. Thinking about a deal you have been offered and/or negotiating the finer points, all before the deadline you have been set, isn't exactly dithering. Or should we tell Lasley to fuck off too for not having signed already? If nothing else, it shows the rumour of Ainsworth having already signed for an MLS team wasn't true.
  7. I guess they must have given him that big cut of the money he demanded from the profits of his Aberdeen goal.
  8. That's just giving the Motherwell TV DVDs to McCall The job has seems very high falutin' now. Did 'Flow not get it for taking some videos of McGhee's pre-season jolly?
  9. And getting paid good wages to play a game doesn't come close to the much used and abused term of 'heroic'.
  10. Heard from who? I know this is a rumours thread, but people claiming to know the details of alleged outrageous contract demands should be named and shamed.
  11. That would be a bit of a trek for a pre-season. Couldn't get much further west in the US unless you go to Hawaii.
  12. Aye, I'd take him for that. 2k a week is within our wage structure from what I can tell.
  13. Have we not offered him a contract then? Given that McCall said the contract offers to the U20s were made a few weeks ago, I'd be surprised if Leitch was omitted.
  14. Aye, we really need to put players in a locked room and beat them up until they sign contracts. I thought contracts didn't expire until May 31 anyway.

    That works for me.

Making players (which we also do) isn't going to reduce our gate prices.

That's a good question. I have no idea how it works with the youngsters. With the senior players, these types of clauses generally never expire, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was different at that age.

That's excellent, but we still need to sort out the compensation payment to Celtic. I think that was the only reason he didn't get a shot in the first team last season.

Given the lengths we went to get the Anier deal financed and the length of his contract, you'd have to think the plan was to move him on for a fee like Henrik.
  21. McCall: “We always had it in mind to bring him in and we are delighted he has chosen to sign for us. He’ll battle it out with the other goalkeepers at the club for that number one shirt.” But you'd expect him to say that.

That's the problem, but there are no easy answers. Most leagues in Europe get a lot more TV/Sponsorship money than we do. We rely on gate money for most of our income. If we drop the prices, then we drop the quality of players we attract. To watch the same players perform in England costs the same (or more). If there was an answer we'd probably have found it by now, but so far it's better financially for clubs to have 4,500 fans at 22 quid than 5,500 at 15 quid. A longer term solution would be for the SPFL and SFA to do something, so we can rule that out.
  23. I don't even understand that sentence, never mind argue against it. If O'Brien was willing to take a wage cut due to relegation and McCourt was not, then you offer O'Brien a reduced wage contract and punt McCourt. Relative talent is irrelevant.
  24. All that means is O'Brien was a cheaper option after Barnsley were relegated.
  25. For those wanting O'Brien back, in the last interview of his I saw on telly he said that it was McCourt that was keeping him out of the team.
