How long have you been sitting on that one?
  2. He might still be injured, but it's also true that some people are just crap at jumping. However, just because you are tall doesn't mean you thrive off the high ball. Higdon's strengths lie elsewhere. He is a bit like Porter - a good link up player, a natural goal scorer and, by SPL standards, a wee bit slow. You only need to see how many he banged in for a poor St. Mirren team to realise that he can definitely cut it at our level. From the highlights and live games I have seen, he does seem to be isolated far too often. Whether we are pressing or playing counterattacking, he needs support.
  3. I think they released them at the end of the season. I have definitely seen them.
  4. So maybe we should have tried against Celtic instead of putting all our eggs in this basket.
  5. Vidalia + Firefox + Foxyproxy. Takes 15 mins to configure then it's all free. One of these days I'll get around to posting exactly how to do it. As far as the game goes - oh crap.
  6. I roll this one out every time the subject is mentioned. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbWn204p6og "I Love This Town" - Used it for the MLB playoffs a few years ago. Simple tune a crowd can sing (esp. the chorus).
  7. English clubs can't lend out players to SPL on one month deals - it's against the rules (regardless of salary).
  8. Easy Here comes Omar Daley, He's Jamaican, not Israeli, He plays the ukelele, But never, ever gaily (not that there's anything wrong with that). I'll leave the melody to someone else.

    John Sutton

With their history of not paying bonuses, I guess he's on 2.7k total
  10. When it comes to sectarian bigotry, Scotland is a backward country. You can try and take context out of the discussion, but anybody with an IQ bigger than their shoe size knows that taking a Union Jack to a Celtic game is different from taking one to Last Night of the Proms. All this "but it's just a show of Britishness" is at best, disingenuous. I'm all for freedom of speech and 100% believe you should be allowed to display whatever flag you like. However, freedom of speech also gives me the right to say it drags us down to the OF level; something I don't want to be associated with my club.
  11. Sub-editors everywhere will be delighted. "Hibs Given Daley Lesson" "Win Bonus Earns Daley Bread" and when he gets his first hat-trick "Three Times Daley" etc. etc.
  12. Maybe we should use our normal system then instead of changing it to one that suits the old firm better.
  13. Maybe we could get some good posters in on emergency loan.
  14. I doubt it. The guy's a winger, I believe, and we aren't short in that department.
  15. England to Scotland transfer window rules, presumably. He's not a free agent, so need to abide by those. EDIT: assuming there is any truth in the rumour, of course.
  16. They also must either have Jumbo Muir or Kirkie Lawson painted on them.

I always thought he was solid, but nothing more. Over the past few years I would place Porter, Clarkson, Murphy and Jutkiewicz ahead of him.
  18. It's ex-pat code for a stream for the Celtic game.
  19. Aye, but lots of people (especially kids or folks with kids) often have activities on a Saturday morning - like playing football - that would make them miss a noon kick-off.

Agree with that, and like I said at the time, I think one of the reasons for his purple patch watch our signing of Jeffers. The work he did off the ball was very impressive and opened up all sorts of opportunities for both Sutton and Murphy. Hearts have struggled up front in recent months and Sutton was never going to magically change that - he's not that type of player.
  21. Also, many PATG punters are PATG because other commitments mean they can only attend a few games a season. This scheme allows them to invest in the club in a different (and for them, possibly better) way.
  22. Short term - cut our budgets. Long term - increase crowds with regular 3pm Saturday kick-offs and wait for the next TV deal to come along.

I agree with that. I don't think taking a salary bump at this stage in his career was greedy. Taking it with a club in turmoil and a track record of late payment of wages, however, was definitely higher risk that most moves.

Good news for his agent who, I'm pretty sure, was responsible for the whole "Didn't get offered a new contract soon enough (aye, ye did)" situation. Nothing against the player, but for shock factor this ranks somewhere between Catholic Popes and Defecating Arboreal Bears.
