  1. 3-5-2 Is the formation we have played and have had most success with this season. It also seems the favoured formation on many of the top leagues. Id like is to stick with it tomorrow.
  2. Think we have proved on numerous occasions that Moult isnt as effective up front on his own. His partnership with Bowman looks very promising. It would be utter madness to split it up tomorrow. Lets play our game and let Hibs worry about how to deal with us instead of the other way about.
  3. Quietly satisfied and cautiously hopeful is a good place to be. I'll have some of that. Its a long way down from cloud 9!
  4. Hoping for a healthy away support through for this one. Real feel food factor both on and off the park. Not to far to travel and easy to get to by public transport. Add in some really good boozers and it has the makings of a great away day.....
  5. I think one of the things that impresses me most about Robbo is that he doesnt sugar coat things. If we've not performed to the standards he expects he says so. He doesnt single out players for criticism and is happy to include himself in the collective. I think the previous acceptance of mediocrity / just surviving is a thing of the past. This squad has higher expectations / goals than that. Very good man management exemplified by his desire for competition for places. If any player isnt cutting it then he will be out and someone else will get a shot. Its a million miles from what we had to endure this time last year....
  6. Mon the Steelmen! Living in Ayrshire is always that bit more enjoyable if we've pumped them!
  7. Neither Erwin or Thomas have done anything to deserve an adverse reaction from our support today. As long as they dont score against us and celebrate in front of the East Stand in Higginbottomesque style, they'll be fine Im sure!
  8. If Frear is injured, every chance Tait will go across there and Grimshaw to the right. I wouldnt be averse to seeing McLean get another run out. I know his preference maybe isnt out wide but he has the pace and ability to play there.
  9. I should probably pay more attention! But then Im already signed up so I will cut myself some slack!
  10. I know we have had the club open day and the Well Society were involved in that. However, has there been any thought to having a one off Well Society Fun Day to get a large number of Motherwell fans down to Fir Park with the specific purpose of directing them towards a table where the Society are taking new pledges? Ive no idea how difficult/easy that would be to organise or whether it would be best held on a matchday or maybe the next international break but its just a thought. Maybe in addition to buckets at turnstyles we should have a table inside every stand with folk taking memberships/pledges. Sometimes you need to be visible/in folks faces to make them part with their hard earned?
  11. Great listen again. Really good insight into the inner workings of the club. This is the type of interaction required to reassure fans that investing in the Well Society is the right thing to do. Well done.
  12. The way the repayment plan works I would have thought the recent activity would be paying off a decent chunk of both accounts owed. Given Les' double your money scheme we need to be really pushing the Well Society this year. We could end up with no debt in the very near future!
  13. Was listening to Sportsound today and I think it was Darryl Broadfoot more or less said that the inclusion of "cross border teams" was done to set a precedent with a view of smoothing access to England for Celtic and Rangers. If true, agenda if getting their U20s into the League wouldnt be a surprise.
  14. Good window for the club. Think the squad is in good shape going forward and certainly much stronger than last year. If we can keep everyone fit and healthy and settle on a formation / style of play that allows everyone to gel we could be in for a decent season. Not sure if Louis will be minded to sign an extension but hopefully we have some spare cash to improve the one on the table and give him something to think about.
  15. Its not the only consideration though..... "HANDLING THE BALL Handling the ball involves a deliberate act of a player making contact with the ball with the hand or arm. The following must be considered: the movement of the hand towards the ball (not the ball towards the hand) the distance between the opponent and the ball (unexpected ball) the position of the hand does not necessarily mean that there is an offence" For me the ball is fired towards goal. The defender turns his back to avoid being hit with the ball. It strikes his hand. Hard to call that deliberate. As others have said, just because we've had them given against us doesnt make it right. Usual lack of consistency from our referees though.
  16. What is the stonewall penalty that keeps getting referred to? Surely not the handball in the first half? The defenders arm may not be in a natural position and the ball clearly strikes it, but with him turning his body away from the ball it would be harsh to call that deliverate?
  17. Moult. Back to his best today. Cedric played well but Louis won it. Always believe in......
  18. Campbell and Bowman definitely both deserve to keep their places.
  19. Its a fair point. He would probably have got a yellow as long as it looked like a genuine attempt to win the ball. Shows how ridiculous the rules are at times.
  20. Buff was a player. Never forget his 30 yarder to give us the lead at Ibrox. Some strike. Was easily the best CB in Scotland for 2 seasons. Was criminal he never got picked for the national team until his form had started to fade.
  21. I think Dunnes red card will get rescinded, but the trade off will be Carson. Given the tv evidence available its hard to argue that he didnt deliberately handle it. They will therefore argue he has denied a clear goal scoring opportunity, albeit that with Kipre and Carson both in attendance, its not that clear. I agree with those raising concerns re over reliance on wing play and cross balls. Despite Fishers aerial prowess its not been that successful. I had thought Bigirimana would give us the option to play passes through the middle, but that hasnt really happened yet (Queens Park game aside). Still early days.
  22. Not sure Cedric deserves it today. Shows O'Halloran inside to get the shot away for 3rd and is at least part culpable for the Carson incident. If he sticks it in Row Z there is no issue and no decision for Thomson to make. Of our defenders, I thought Heneghan was probably the best. No real stand outs for me today but for work rate and his goal I went for Rose. Also forced Mannus into a couple of decent saves second half.
