I popped into the Well shop today and I was happy to see that Copa have produced a replica of our 1970s claret sash shirt. I was hoping to replace the less than accurate Xara replica I bought from the club shop a few years back and was hopeful that Copa would do the shirt justice. However, the design OCD in me was instantly drawn to the claret sash and the ultimate frustration that they have also fell short in producing an exact replica of the original. In my opinion, the point in producing replica shirts is to match the original design as accurately as possible (especially the main design features). Two minutes of online picture research would have shown the Copa production team that the edge of the claret sash should be almost flush against the amber ‘V’ section of the winged collar and finishing flat against the shoulder (see picture below). Accurate replica’s take time to produce and in the event of not having an original shirt to copy they should always be based around decent pictures from the time. I realise that the majority of our fan base will not give a toss on whether a replica is accurate or not, however, I believe if a job is worth doing, it’s worth doing well. Right I am off to take another dose of my OCD medication before I pass out.

Moult for me, the guy put in a really good shift and was a handful for the Aberdeen defence all game.

Motherwell Vs Aberdeen Saturday 15Th August

I hadn’t planned in going to this game, however, a last minute change in my travel plans meant I could go along. I thought we started brightly and managed to score the all important first goal. Their first goal seemed really bizarre, a nothing ball crossed into the box which appeared to miss everyone before hitting the post and eventually landing in the net. How many bad goals do we seem to lose? The second was a free header in the box, which either our keeper or defenders really need to deal with. On the positive side I thought Moult worked very hard up front and kept the Aberdeen defenders on their toes. Johnston took his goal well, however, he is very wasteful with his passing. Over all we still look a yard short, however, hopefully that will be rectified the more games that we play. My aspirations of us being top six have now been adjusted to being the best of the rest in the bottom six. -

He’s still out unfortunately. -
Sponsors are a necessary evil, however, I have never been a fan of the upsurge in gambling, pawn shops and alcohol brands that in my opinion have ruined some smart shirt designs. Despite their welcome financial support, the Cash Converters logo has tainted every shirt their logo has been on.

Sadly I won’t be at the game, however, going by the strength and quality of their squad this should be our toughest game to date. With that in mind we will do well to come away with a draw and I would accept a point from this game. I am going for a hard earned 1-1. -
I can picture the scene…An angry mob would gather outside his house baying for blood with pitch forks in their hands. After a brief ‘your guilty’ trial by television the group would erect some make shift goal post shaped gallows (it’s what he would have wanted) from which to hang the poor blighter from.

Although still a bit raw, I thought he looked very lively when he came on against Dundee United.

Good additions to a strong young squad, however, they are not names that you would automatically assume would strike fear into an opposition. I would hope that our new recruits are comparable in quality to the boys that Hearts have brought in. In my opinion, the only side out with Celtic who have recruited a higher calibre of player is Aberdeen and I would imagine that they will be the bookies favourites for the runners up spot again this season.
-
A Reading fan that I know told me that we have signed a decent player and he reckons that the boy has an excellent international future ahead of him. He described him as a solid steady player who makes very few mistakes and is someone who can also provide a goal threat. Given time I am sure he will make an excellent addition to the squad.
-
However, most sides could probably say the same and I am sure the Hearts team that played last night will have made a good few changes from the squad that won the championship last season. Just curious, are the new players Hearts recruited over the summer really that much of a better a standard than what we have brought in?

This has been my main concern, as at times it is difficult to predict which Motherwell team is going to turn up for the game. However, It’s still a little early in the season to judge how this campaign will pan out. Personally, I would give it 10-12 games before I start to show concerns or delight at the direction our season is moving in.

All over bar the shouting. I expected better from us tonight, however, it is looking like two defeats on the trot.

Yet another entertaining listen lads and there was a surprising amount of sense talked during the show. I was never one for reading fanzines, I would buy them, however, I would rarely get around to looking at them. For me the podcast has provided Well fans with a good alternative to the more traditional printed fanzine, however, in a format that personally suits me better. Keep up the good work and I am already looking forward to listening in to the Stevie Kirk podcast.

I spoke to a Reading fan that I know and he says that the boy can play and that he will be a great addition to our squad.

Remarkable turn around, well done to the ladies!

It will be typical of Motherwell to go to Tynecastle and take all three points, however, if we are to achieve this we will need to be more clinical in front of goal. Football is a simple game, if you score more than the opposition you will win the match. Early days, however, even after our defeat on Saturday I am still confident that we will be okay this season. As for Wednesday, I think it will finish 2-2.
-
It was either Laing, Ripley or Keith for me. In the end I went for Ripley.

I suspect that this may well be our last year with Cash Converters as our main shirt sponsor. I get the impression that they don’t fit in with the new owners vision on the way the club should be moving.

I was quite encouraged by our performance at various stages throughout the game, however, not capitalising when we were on top has cost us. Without doubt, we deserved to take something out of the game, however, the record books will only show that we lost the game 0-2. On a side note, Ripley was fortunate not to get a second yellow when he pulled the shirt of the United player on the lead up to their second goal. -

I am a big fan of the match day posters that we produce for the home and away games and whilst I am not 100% sold on this portrait illustration, at least it’s a positive departure from the usual posed player photograph. Well done to all concerned. -
I will be very surprised if they don’t fix this, stretching a club badge or any corporate logo is just wrong. Classic pre match shenanigans.
-
As the one who normally moans about poorly or just plain wrong graphics I look forward to seeing it. You would like to think if we were going to get any graphic right it would be the club badge. A club should always present a professional corporate image on and off the park and if it is as bad as you say it is, it will surely be fixed asap.

He appears to be playing for the under 20s today in Dingwall, I assume the ban doesn’t stretch to those games?
