  1. Delighted to hear this - welcome back sheriff
  2. Not surprised Ainsworth has been dropped if we are expecting the midfield to track back - the guy left Reid horribly exposed on Saturday.
  3. Like everyone else I can only wish him all the best on his recovery and look forward to seeing him at the 25th anniversary celebrations.
  4. We played poorly in parts yesterday and could have been punished but weren't. I'm sure that we will play a hell of a lot better than yesterday and lose but that's the game so I'm happy with the 3 points.
  5. Julian the London cabbie warned us a few weeks ago that they were dangerous from long range
  6. Thought the decorator would have posted a couple of pics by now.
  7. I suspect this team will come out at us and go for a win.
  8. To be fair Higginbotham was getting some pelters from our fans - including me - so I feel it was as much a shut the fuck up as a get it up you, which is fair enough in my books.
  9. I don't think we should ever look at a Euro draw and think we should win. Just because this mod are part timers or semi pro's it doesn't mean they are shite, only that their league cannot sustain full time football. As I said previously, I didn't see the first leg so can't compare this team but knowing our ability to screw up winnable games then I fear the worst.
  10. Odense - after the first game we should have beaten them at FP but shat the nest big time.
  11. That's the kind of odds I'd expect to see. As others have said we're playing against a team top of their league who can't stop scoring, playing away from home on an artificial surface and we have a relatively poor European record. So 6/4 doesn't seem that outrageous and we could very easily go out tomorrow night. Personally I think this could be our last European game for a while but by fuck I really hope I'm fucking wrong.
  12. Looks to me like Law will play behind Sutton with Ainsworth on the right and Vigurs on the left - let's hope at least one of them can score!
  13. Orangemen walk, republicans march, 'Well fans Corteo - if you're up for it have a great time
  14. Personally I only see these European games as our pre season warm ups which could give us a bit of a competitive edge over other teams for the first few weeks of the season. It would take a great piece of luck for us to reach the group stages so we can only hope to get two or three home games with hopefully decent crowds - and no expensive away legs. Apart from the competitive games advantage we get from these games, 4 or 5 thousand fans paying £25 (minus the cost of the away leg) is surely better than 2 or 3 thousand fans paying £10 for a friendly (minus the costs we have to pay the opposition)
  15. It's a hell of a lot easier to do well in the warm up without any players bearing down on him. I'm not trying to knock the guy but from what I've seen at the moment he struggles in games to find the openings and get a shot away before being closed down. As I said previously, I really hope that his luck changes and he does start putting some "screamers" away in the first team but, although I'm not making any comparisons, I seem to remember that Ross Forbes could hit a good ball from time to time.
  16. Unfortunately I've got to agree with you there, McHugh gives his all but never seems to get the breaks/luck that a striker needs. The ball doesn't drop for him to get a clear shot or even get a deflection that would build his confidence. I'm sure that SMcC must see him doing something in training that make him keep giving the guy a chance but watching from the stands I'm just not seeing it. Still, I hope he proves me wrong.
  17. we have been warned - I hope SMcC is now planning to close them down quickly if they can score from that range.
  18. Got to agree with Steve there, its better we spend money sending them on a pre season training stint to the sun rather than sending them on a post season thank you piss up to the sun. As for Clarky, I'm happy to let SMcC decide if he's still good enough to play at SPFL level.
  19. Maybe it the opposition who want the game played behind closed doors to trial players and we're happy to oblige as it give us some game time or maybe the opposition is that poor/bad kick off times that it would cost the club to open the ground, pay policing & open the kiosks.
  20. It's not going to happen but since its the silly season, I'd rather we signed Goodwillie over Boyd. Goodwillie has a bit of pace so with him and Ainesworth playing either side of Sutton we would potentially have one hell of an attacking team. The downside is that I fear both Ainesworth and Goodwillie would be hopeless at tracking back, leaving our defence in deep shit but if we score more that the opposition then who gives - roll on high scoring games with plenty of excitement!
  21. Great to hear that he's signed again - I've no doubt some of big Shaun's wages have been spent on him. What we need now - budget allowing - is one or two new players that will allowed SMcC to change our style of play from time to time. At the moment we are the same team as last year and although I think that we have a good squad, I think that it could make it easier for other managers to set up against us as they know how we player last year.
  22. £10 for a friendly is a good price. Don't see many Fulham fans making the journey up but it should be a good run out for our guys.
  23. Can't be arsed reading all this thread regarding the cost of a ticket but I'd imagine that since the club got stung last year due to who we drew, that this year they are costing things with that in mind - not nice we are paying 25 quid for a ticket against an unknown team but I'd rather that than the tickets were priced low and then the club lost money on an expensive away leg.
